"The floor is completely engulfed. We're on the floor, and we can't breathe, and it's very, very, very hot...I'm going to die, I know it. Please, God, no. It's so hot, I'm burning up!" These were some of the last words of Melissa Doi, 32, one of the thousands of innocent victims that perished at the hands of radical Islamists on September 11, 2001. In all, 3,017 souls were lost and 6,291+ people were injured on that fateful day by al Qaeda terrorists in New York City, Arlington County, VA, and Shanksville, PA. Now, eight years later, one of the biggest fears held by counterterrorism experts and experts on radical Islam is coming to pass and we are less safe for it.
One of the biggest fears advanced by myself and people who I have had the honor of working with in the quest to educate Americans on the threats and dangers posed by radical Islamists, is that the American people would soon forget the horrors of September 11th; that they would start to forget the sense of helplessness they felt as they watched the World Trade Center collapse into the streets of New York City, the carnage at the Pentagon and the despondency of rescuers demonstrated in a field in Shanksville. We all understood that there would be a waning of the immediacy felt in the aftermath of the attacks – immediacy of response, education and prevention – but we feared the encroachment of apathy to the grotesque loss of life and butchery foisted upon the American people on that day. We feared it because we all understood – and still believe today – that to abdicate vigilance to the threat of Islamist aggression is to set the stage for another catastrophic event.

I listened to the audio on youtube and brought tears to my eyes :(
“Bring me the head of Osama Bin Laden” Yes. I still want that head. On a Crusader’s pike. I want his followers blown to smithereens. I want all who sympathize with his cause made to leave my country — and all Western countries. I want everyone in the world to recognize Islam for the evil that it is and that it brings.
Until our government decides to fight a war the way a war should be fought.....yes, we will be attacked again. Remember WWII, we went in with overwhelming force and power and beat two of the best militaries in the world. We almost lost that war but when we finally woke up things changed. Afghanistan will become another Viet Nam, Obama’s Viet Nam. We will eventually pull out of there with nothing changing. Our fortune and blood will be spent for nothing. So, that being the case, we need to pull out now. We do not have the will to win this war and the Iraqi’s and Afghans want us to stay and will do anything to keep us there. Just my opinion folks and I say this because we do not have a Commander in Chief that knows how to win nor has the will to win the way this country has won in the past.

He was talking to the emergency dispatcher, and the poor dispatcher knew his fate but just tried to comfort him by saying that help was on the way (it wasn't and she knew it). It was dark, very hot, and the smoke was slowly choking him (and others) to death. The last thing you hear on the tape is his shrieking screams as the floor beneath him collapses with the building sending him to his death. It still haunts me.

That is where my nephew, 30 yrs old was on that day. He called his mother after the plane hit his bldg to assure her he was OK and was standing by a widow so he was able to breathe. I can only guess they broke the window since I was under the impression they were unable to be opened. cantor Fitzgerald if I am not mistaken is up around the 100th floor, above where the plane hit.
All they ever found was his key chain and that not for almost a month. His poor mother has not been the same since the tragedy.

His final heartwrenching cry of “OH, GOD! O-!” as the South Tower of the World Trade Center collapsed made international headlines.[1]
Cosgrove was a Vice President of Claims for Aon Corporation. According to the 911 recording played during Moussaoui’s trial, Cosgrove was located in the northwest corner of the 105th floor in the South Tower (Tower 2), overlooking the World Financial Center. He told 911 dispatchers he was calling from John Ostaru’s office and had two other individuals with him. One he mentions by name, Doug Cherry. The second individual is often assumed to be John Ostaru since the call was made from his office, but Ostaru is not listed as a victim of the attack. After American Airlines Flight 11 impacted the North Tower, Cosgrove reportedly called his wife to let her know that he was alright and was preparing to evacuate the building. However, before Cosgrove was able to evacuate, United Airlines Flight 175 impacted the South Tower, trapping him.

The media, the Democrats and, indeed our President have “moved on” from 9-11, turning what should be a day of remembrance into little more than another Earth Day.
I could not help but comment upon what I noticed when I looked at my Yahoo! “home page” this morning. Under its “Top Stories”, the first is headlined, “9/11 marked with mourning and a spirit of service” (italics mine)
Other news stories describe how President Obama issued a letter celebrating 9/11 as a “National Day of Service and Remembrance” (italics again mine).
I found the order both significant and telling. I also found it disturbing.
The body of the letter is even more disturbing. In it, the President (or his proxy) writes:

We can modernize our health system, but we need volunteers to care for the sick and assist others in leading healthier lives. What exactly does commemorating an attack against American civilians who were beginning their work day at their places of employment have to do with “investing in clean energy?” Not a blessed thing.
This letter, like almost everything else that emanates from Obama and the Democratic Party and is dutifully retransmitted by the mainstream media, is about what they want for America and nothing else.
At the funeral mass for Sen. Kennedy, the very first petition (normally, it would be for the Church, the sick, or, especially at a funeral, the souls of the deceased and what we Catholics refer to as “the faithful departed”.) The memorial service for Sen. Wellstone was 80% campaign rally, 10% political event, and 10% to celebrate the life of the deceased.
Even when the dead are their own, the Democrats place their political agenda ahead of everything including honoring the dead. And the mainstream media dutifully supports their efforts.
Go to Obama’s serve.gov and see what others are doing on this day. According to the Heritage Foundation,

None of that has even the faintest connection to what happened eight years ago on 9-11.
Leave it to Obama and the Democrats to find new and creative ways to desecrate the memory of those who died on 9-11, and especially the 343 firefighters and paramedics and 60 police officers who perished while bringing others to safety. It is an absolute disgrace to, on this day, diminish their ultimate sacrifice by featuring those who “assemble Energy Efficiency Outreach Bags” (whatever that is) or beautify gardens.
And leave it to the mainstream media to feature them (in a dutifully laudatory tone) instead of on what we should be focused as we recall that terrible day.
If you are not willing to kill your enemy and all that stand with him, surrender to him for he has already defeated you.
There is no middle ground for compromise with this enemy.

They have defeated us already since this administration has changed to rules of engagement in Afganistan so our people cannot fight back fully and safely.
I heard that tape again yesterday. Just as a terrible roar began, the man screamed, “OH MY GOD - NO!!!” Then the phone goes dead.
I cringe just thinking about it. I simply cannot fathom the sheer terror he must have experienced in just that few seconds of time.

You are correct. Three marines were killed this week because of lack of air cover or artillery. We had both available but were not allowed to use them due to the new Rules of Engagement.
My son has done two tours of Iraq and served proudly with honor. Thank God he is now out of the Army. If he had refused to go to Iraq (the thought never crossed his mind) I would have disowned him. If he were still in the Army I would counsel him to leave the army even if it meant a court martial or dishonorble discharge. No man or woman in the military should have to serve under a president that will not use the full capabilities of their armed forces to minimize their chance of becoming a casualty or worse. These three recent deaths occurred in Afghanistan. The enabler of these three deaths is at 1900 Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington DC.
I think that there were at least three or four in the past few weeks and numerous since the policy change.
