VIDEO: Coast Guard To Suspicious Boat: "Slow Down" Or "You Will Be Fired Upon"

USA Today: CNN broadcasts what it says is audio of the Coast Guard apparently speaking to a suspicious boat. The Coast Guard speaker is heard saying; "Slow down or you will be fired on."

Yeah, at least half of the stories on the "News" have serious holes in them these days. If you listen carefully, you can detect the spin - Especially if it is political.

Add up the context with a critical eye and you'll find out how good a fish wrap most stories are. This is an excellent case in point.

Now, from the CG press release, let me indict the press on this too:

The exercise was planned in advance and was being conducted on a marine radio frequency reserved for Coast Guard training and operations.

It is incumbent on the press to assume some responsilbility for their use of intercepted (legal or otherwise) radio traffic too. Several local fire departments perform drills in our area utilizing the common 'trunked' 800 MHz radio system they share; if one doesn't listen carefully enough, "man down" messages sent during these training events could result in press reports/news media response out-of-order with the actual events taking place

Fact is most people aren’t malicious they are stupid. This administration may prove to be the exception.

The excercise is tone deaf at best. It did not have to take place today or on the Potomac. BUT the exaggerated response by some here is also pointless. it is breathless and trying to make something out of stupidity. Because I ain’t biting doesn’t mean that I am not disgusted

Not all drills are announced to the public ahead of time -— defeats the purpse of the exercise ( fir, rescue, military, etc)

Yes they do but not every day is on the Potomac. They could have as easily been off shore or on one of the other nearby water ways.

I was watching this “made up” story, while I was working out.

CNN is inventing news. I mean that had all kinds of stock footage with a bunch of boats and police cars lining the shore, somewhere, but no footage of someone being detained.

Fake but real to give a sense of “watch over” on 911.
