"Obama is correct," Steven Camarota, director of research for the Center for Immigration Studies, tells Newsmax. "The legislation states illegals won't get the affordability credits [to pay for their healthcare]. But Wilson's comment is correct in that the normal enforcement mechanism was excluded from the bill. I think that's the fundamental question."

Blah, blah, blah, Lie, Lie, PERIOD.
Let him apologize all he wants. I think it’s great that the SRM is reporting it. It reinforces the message that Obama can’t be trusted.
Never should have apologized....
Yeah, he got a phone call. Weak.
The point all are missing is if they don`t kick out all illegals or change the law to allow the refusal of treatment to illegals then they will get treatment and we the taxpayers will pay for it.Its illegal to refuse medical treatment to anybody right now.
I don’t believe he apologized for ‘what’ he said, only in the way he said it.
Exactly.
Hopefully we will be able to say “Obama lied, the bill died”

.
Ah, then I stand corrected.
oops... doublepost :(
Everything these liberals do is about transferring money from those who work hard for it to those who vote democrat.
Read just pages 16 - 19. Then marvel as the Commander in Chief just lies his arse off over and over again about how you get to keep your health insurance if you want to.
And illegals? POTUS has PROMISED that, next year, they won't BE illegal anymore. They'll be on “a path to citizenship”. Presto! Legal! Covered!
Never should have apologized....
++++++++++++++++++
Why did he apologize? He should have said, I shouldn’t have been so in your face, however, what I said is TRUE. (if he wanted to apolgize for being ‘rude’.
How RUDE is what bammy and company are donig to us - with their constant lies, obfuscations and Alinsky tactics...
ENOUGH!
Im not sure it was a lie, from the bill:
Page 143, Line 3, Section 246: “No Federal Payment for Undocumented Aliens. Nothing in this subtitle shall allow Federal payments for affordability credits on behalf of individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States.”
I think it’s lame that he apologized and just shows what pansies these politicians in Washington are.
Who cares if it was rude to call Obama what he is, during his speech...the democrats boo’d Bush big time during his an as rude and insulting as that was, NO ONE apologized to Bush.
Who cares if people didn’t like that someone called Obama out...someone needed to.
It was the truth and it needed to be said!! And it’s a shame an apology was said at all, IMO.
Bela Pelsoi
He owes his apology to his colleagues, for his breach of protocol.
He should not retract a word of what he said, though.
Don’t be fooled. This language is just to get the bill passed through Congress.
The Dems know that just as the courts ruled that illegals must be given access to our public education system, the courts will rule that illegals must have access to our health care system.
The Dems know they can pass a bill ostensibly denying coverage to illegals, and then the courts will then make health coverage for illegals mandatory.
It was a lie by omission!
What Obama DOES NOT say is that Democrats actually voted AGAINST a specific provision in the health care bill that would have checked citizenship status.
I believe Obama will try to give citizenship to all illegals but could you direct me to a source where he actually said he would?
Thanks!
From the article “Obama had earlier this year signaled his support for immigration reform that includes a path to citizenship”
I'll see if I can find the actual quote. My main point is that, once you are on the “path”, you may not be a citizen, but you aren't illegal anymore.
Lacks 2 things:
1. A mechanism for proof of status
2. A mechanism to discourage illegals from attempting to obtain credits.
A lie based on omission is...a lie.
A single US-citizen newborn infant will qualify an entire family of illegal immigrants for affordability credits.

He apologized only after the RNC began demanding an apology and other Republicans jumped on him too. Also he's a freshman legislator.
He still stuck to his guns on the illegal alien part. Should he have apologized? No, but it doesn't rise to Macaca moment that did in Allen.
Weenies all.
Oh baloney.
When you step into the storied halls of Congress, you are awash in history. The memories are so thick you have to brush them away from your face. Extraordinary, legendary men strode those halls, and world-transforming decisions have been made within those walls.
Sophomoric outbursts such as Wilson’s have absolutely no place there. Centuries of tradition DEMAND it be thus.
It’s not about the person of Obama, it is about the Office of the Presidency, and the Congress of the United States, and the respect due those establishments, regardless of the name of any given individual who happens to be standing in them at any given moment.
It’s not a matter of disrespect to Obama, because Lord knows he deserves it, but disrespect to the hallowed halls in which Wilson stood and to the memories of all the exemplary gentlemen who have stood there across the ages.
You can most certainly call Obama a liar in the halls of Congress, but the only proper place to do it is at the podium, under the gaze of C-SPAN cameras, after having been recognized by the Speaker of the House.
Wow! And until they acquire citizenship, the democrats have stopped legislation that would require anyone from asking their legal status.
Thanks so much for your help!
Steven Camarota, he knows perfectly well that illegals do and will get free healthcare on our backs. Period. End of story.
The Usurper lies. The press covers.
If the original colonists held your ideals and attitudes, we would be singing "God Save the Queen", and not "The Star Spangled Banner".
The extraordinary, legendary men have left the building. The halls are now hallowed in memory only, and are currently stuffed with rats liars and cockroaches thieves.
He only apologized for the speech interruption, adding that he did so at the behest of the GOP.
At the same time, in his statement, he specifically went on to, in detail, expose Obama’s lie.
This was a very weak apology, as apologies go.
It’s kind of like when somebody lies and you call them a liar and punch them in the face and then you apologize for punching them in the face but say they’re still a liar.
What should have happened is that the initial heckle should have opened a floodgate of heckles, but it must have gone against some sort of code among lawmakers, I dunno.
The GOP needs to grow some.

Fast-forward to about 45:50 to see it. And at 46:05, take careful note of who you see in the lower left corner of the frame.
Hint: he didn't vote "present" this time.
I’ll bet that if you were alive during the Revolutionary War you would have scolded the patriots for sneaking around hiding behind trees and firing at the British instead of marching in formation properly and politely like they did.
Our liberty and lives are at risk here. I am not worried about any perceived respect given to plaster and marble. I’m more concerned about my children and grandchildren who will have to live as slaves under this tyranny. If a few protocols have to be broken in the process so be it. Better than a few million heads in civil war.
When I hear people speaking like you are I fear that you have no real grasp of the seriousness of the situation.
There is nothing wrong in challenging our leaders — they are not kings or god-men.
Go to UK or Australia and hear how the government is harshly and loudly ridiculed by the opposition in parliament every day. It is entertaining to watch the rhetorical brawls. It is only in our system that we put on this fake “be nice” attitude.
Everybody knows that O is a liar. Lying is what Democrats do. Remember how Clinton was praised for being an “extraordinary” liar? For these people truth is constructed by those in power. They are in power, so if illegals can get coverage indirectly all the president has to do is assert the opposite and it is marvelous.
"You vile piece of white trash. How dare you demand healthcare?"
Ohaha wants it both ways: The final legislation will SAY no coverage for illegals BUT it will also prevent checking on the citizenship status of any person seeking healthcare. That's what prompted Cong Joe Wilson---he knows Dems voted down these provision in committee. The end game is that vote-hungry Dems will kneel in obeisance and suck-up to illegals b/c they NEED those votes to stay in power. Read on.

Government-Run Healthcare: A Prescription For Failure; Paying The Price For Illegal Care
IBD Exclusive Series | August 21, 2009
FR Posted by Kaslin
Democrats are right that uncompensated emergency care for the uninsured is driving up costs. What they don't say is it's illegal immigrants who are bankrupting ERs, and the federal government is encouraging them.
Last decade, the Clinton administration added teeth to a little-known Health and Human Services Department regulation mandating that hospitals provide emergency treatment even to illegals. Under the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act, or EMTALA, hospitals can't ask for a patient's immigration status or ability to pay prior to delivering treatment. They also can't keep such uninsured patients waiting, even if their problem isn't an emergency. Nor can they discharge them until they're fully stabilized and have safe transportation. More, hospitals must post EMTALA signs in Spanish and English.
The law isn't limited to ERs. Hospitals must accept illegals at any facility on campus including outpatient clinics and doctor's offices located within 250 yards of the main buildings.
Hospitals end up treating uninsured illegals for the sniffles and other nonurgent care, and pass that exorbitant cost on to the insured, the Government Accountability Office has found. Resulting overcrowding leads to delays in "care for patients with true emergency needs." (Excerpt) Read more at ibdeditorials.com .....

OBAMA CON JOB: Obama keeps saying "ObamaCare is not going to insure illegal aliens EXCEPT that the several bills floating around do not have verification provisions to make sure illegals can't apply and get benefits." And Obama surely knows (doesn't he?) that our courts have ruled repeatedly that hospitals cannot turn illegals away from emergency rooms
Vote-starved Dems will lose the Senior Citizen vote (when they realize what socialized Medicare means). So if Ohaha does get his socialized medicine atrocity passed soon, amnesty is a must. Ohaha and the Dems are greedily eyeing all those new votes----illegals here, and those pouring over our borders for yet another gov't freebie.
You appear to be conflating combat engagements with conduct on the floor of one of the single most historic and hallowed institutions in the nation.
When revolutionaries - the very ones who were at that very moment preparing to orchestrate the killing of thousands of British soldiers - went to England to petition the king and the parliament, they behaved as consummate gentlemen, not as boors.
Richard Penn, descendant of the founder of Pennsylvania, was one of the delegates who delivered the final appeal of the Olive Branch petition to the Secretary of State for the American Colonies, Lord Dartmouth, on August 21, 1775. Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson were two of the petition's authors.
MOST EXCELLENT SOVERIEIGN: We your Majesty's faithful subjects of the colonies of New-hampshire, Massachusetts-bay, Rhode island and Providence plantations, Connecticut, New-York, New-Jersey, Pennsylvania, the counties of New Castle, Kent, and Sussex on Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina, in behalf of ourselves and the inhabitants of these colonies, who have deputed us to represent them in general Congress, entreat your Majesty's gracious attention to this our humble petition.
I have a very clear grasp of the seriousness of the situation, but I happen to believe that it has no bearing on ancient and respected traditions of decorum.
I feel exactly the same way when the Democrats repeatedly stain the dignity of Congress and the Office of the Presidency with their conduct. President Bush didn't permit anyone to even enter the Oval Office without a jacket and tie:
Ill never forget going to work on a Saturday morning, getting called down to the Oval Office because there was something he was mad about, said Dan Bartlett, who was counselor to Mr. Bush. I had on khakis and a buttoned-down shirt, and I had to stand by the door and get chewed out for about 15 minutes. He wouldnt even let me cross the threshold.
As former Bush staffer Andrew Card put it, it's about respect:
Mr. Card went on to add that, while he would not criticize Mr. Obama for his appearance, I do expect him to send the message that people who are going to be in the Oval Office should treat the office with the respect that it has earned over history.
House Rule XVII:
1. (a) A Member, Delegate, or Resident Commissioner who desires to speak or deliver a matter to the House shall rise and respectfully address himself to Mr. Speaker and, on being recognized, may address the House from any place on the floor. When invited by the Chair, a Member, Delegate, or Resident Commissioner may speak from the Clerks desk.
(b) Remarks in debate (which may include references to the Senate or its Members) shall be confined to the question under debate, avoiding personality.
5. When the Speaker is putting a question or addressing the House, a Member, Delegate, or Resident Commissioner may not walk out of or across the Hall. When a Member, Delegate, or Resident Commissioner is speaking, a Member, Delegate, or Resident Commissioner may not pass between the person speaking and the Chair. During the session of the House, a Member, Delegate, or Resident Commissioner may not wear a hat or remain by the Clerks desk during the call of the roll or the counting of ballots. A person may not smoke or use a wireless telephone or personal computer on the floor of the House. The Sergeant-at-Arms is charged with the strict enforcement of this clause.
I’m sure there are such passages in the rulebook for the British parliament and Israeli Knesset as well. But people there are not afraid to be heard.

And it is here that critics who draw a sharp contrast between the legacy of Lincoln and the current Republican party have a point. Mr. Wilson and others of his ilk can be as ill-mannered as they wish (though personally I think such tactics may well prove counterproductive in the long run). What they should not do, however, is press their rancor so far that it undermines public confidence in the republic itself. Little by little, the people who talk darkly of Obama’s “un-American” spirit, who claim he is destroying the foundations of the republic, who pursue silly red herrings like his birth status, and yes, those who ignore long-standing and cherished traditions which hold that there is a certain level of respect to be afforded to the President whenever he speaks—like the slow drip-drip of Chinese water torture, they are damaging democracy.
