A man with a shotgun was arrested on Wednesday night by U.S. Capitol Police while attempting to gain access to Capitol grounds as President Barack Obama began to deliver his speech to a joint session on healthcare.
Capitol Police stopped Joshua Bowman, 28, of Falls Church, Va., at approximately 8 p.m. on Wednesday night several blocks away from the Capitol as he made a “failed attempt to gain access to [a Capitol] barricade,” a spokeswoman said.

Since the headline didn’t scream “REPUBLICAN ACTIVIST WITH GUN....”, (and his political affiliation, or ethnicity, wasn’t mentioned anywhere in the article..), I’m guessing the guy was a Democrat.....

“Man with a Gun” in the title is pretty misleading. He didn’t rush the barricade with his shotgun. It was left in his car... so unless this guy was some sort of master at telekinesis, I’d say he wasn’t an armed threat.

Police spokeswoman Kimberly Schneider said Thursday that 28-year-old Joshua Bowman of Falls Church, Va., was arrested around 8 p.m. Wednesday. Schneider says Bowman approached a security checkpoint near the Cannon House Office Building in a 4-door Honda Civic and told officers he wanted to park. People who want to get into the area must have a permit and have their vehicles searched. The timing of the request raised an officer’s suspicion, Schneider said, and Bowman consented to a vehicle search. Schneider says a shotgun and ammunition were found in Bowman’s trunk. She says Bowman was charged with having an unregistered firearm and ammunition.

Give me a break. No competent killer would try to take out any specfic person in a crowd with a shotgun. One has to be too close and the weapon is too visible to make it a credible threat. This was just some random nutjob of unknown political leanings. A staged stooge would not be beyond belief.
Never, ever consent to a search. The police are NOT your friends.
