“It has now been nearly a century since Theodore Roosevelt first called for health care reform.”
You, Mr. President, are no Theodore Roosevelt.

From reading I get the feeling he is looking at co-ops.

“Everyone in this room knows what will happen if we do nothing. Our deficit will grow.”
Takes brass ones for Mister $11 Trillion deficit to utter those words.
Think what he really is saying. “I am doing this because Medicare is too expensive and the GOVERNMENT needs to save money”. That means rationing. That is not a prescription for quality care.
Also it was supposed to be evil to cut government spending for the elderly. Now it’s a virtue. Oh yeah I forgot, it’s all going to be done with “cost savings”.
Then why is government medicare too expensive?????? Oy

First, if you are among the hundreds of millions of Americans who already have health insurance through your job, Medicare, Medicaid, or the VA, nothing in this plan will require you or your employer to change the coverage or the doctor you have. Let me repeat this: nothing in our plan requires you to change what you have. What this plan will do is to make the insurance you have work better for you. Translation: "I'm from the government and I'm here to help."
It'll be the same only different.

FWIW, the Republican response will be given by Rep. Charles Boustany (LA), who is a cardiothoracic surgeon.
One might hope that the MSM will pay attention to what he has to say; odds are heavily in favor of the fact that they won't.

Sounds desperate, almost like his presidency and his facist regime hang in the balance. It probably does.

What’s new here?
It sounds like “Deja vu, all over again.”

Its a plan that asks everyone to take responsibility for meeting this challenge not just government and insurance companies, but employers and individuals. Just not the lawyers.

Everyone in this room knows what will happen if we do nothing this. Our deficit will grow. More families will go bankrupt. More businesses will close. More Americans will lose their coverage when they are sick and need it most. And more will die as a result. We know these things to be true.Fixed

John Dingell Sr. in 1943. Sixty-five years later, his son continues to introduce that same bill at the beginning of each session. LOL. He mentions Theodore and the Dingle's but not Edward M. Kennedy?
The speech needs a fast re-write...lol.

"I am not the first President to take up this cause, but I am determined to be the last." And we're here to help.
KILL THE BILL!!!
If the flames of the pyre are tall enough, history will be well informed, and no President will ever try to CONTROL OUR BODIES like this commie b*stard.

This is because the government has a disdain for “We The People”.

Thanks for posting this
I see he won’t call it Public Option but he really thinks we are stupid
here “ We will do this by creating a new insurance exchange “
and where will the funding come from? Gov’t.
calling a pig a cat doesn’t change that it is still a pig
and that “ exchange “ is the public option.’’
Yes there is a GOP response from a LA cardiologist congressman

" As soon as I sign this bill, it will be against the law for insurance companies to drop your coverage when you get sick or water it down when you need it most " Two lies here...
1,..the bill is due to kick in in 2013
2...including pre-existing conditions on the insurance companies now will ensure they are all bankrupt by 2013.

Am I missing something here? It looks like the big new tactic here is referring to the “public option” as an “insurance exchange.” I supposed that phrasing polls better. He’s playing word games. I suggest we tell this son of a female canine to take go make himself airborn before interfacing with a body of water.

"But what we have also seen in these last months is the same partisan spectacle that only hardens the disdain many Americans have toward their own government." True. Opposition to your "reforms" is becoming a large majority.

Yo Zero, why don't you just buy Cuba, fly those with no insurance there for socialized health care, and leave the best medical care system the world has known alone? It'd be a lot cheaper than the steaming pile you're trying to foist, and it would leave our system intact. Oh, while you're at it, send all the tort lawyers to Cuba too (and maybe Pelosi). There... problem solved.

He says NOW IT WILL COME TO PASS. That isn’t “bipartisan”. Some are saying “I don’t want it”. There is no mandate for it.
That right there shows no bipartisanship on this matter.
It’s “my way or the highway”, “join onboard my program and MAYBE get some input or deal with the hand I give you”.
