According to reports from Afghanistan, New York Times reporter Stephen Farrell and his driver/interpreter have been kidnapped while attempting to cover the story of the NATO airstrike on the two Taliban-hijacked tankers in Kunduz, Afghanistan. The local Afghan press is reporting on Farrell's kidnapping; however, the international press and the wires services have been silent on this issue.
Multiple sources in Afghanistan tell me that The New York Times is attempting to suppress the reporting on Farrell's kidnapping.

All he has to do is show them some of that liberal understanding. You know, all the stuff we mean-spirited and intolerant conservatives just don't get.
Stephen, just tell the Taliban how much you respect them and their unfairly maligned religion, about how their culture is just as valid as America's. Tell them you're on their side, showing all the world how unfairly the poor Taliban have been treated.
I'm sure you'll be home in the morning with a grateful hug from your Taliban brothers.
It’s acceptable to publish a photo of the mangled body of a U.S. soldier against his family’s wishes, but not ok to report about the kidnap of a civilian reporter, unless it is Daniel Pearl. It is terribly difficult to follow the illogical liberal presstitute mindset.
The NY Times will suppress these reports, but the Associated Press will print a picture of the last moments of a dying Marine’s life...against his family’s wishes.
This is just so wrong on so many levels
the international press and the wires services have been silent on this issue.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>( The ransom is being gathered)
Any bets that Farrel will keep his head? The Taliban are now
executing spies by explosives taped to a “spy’s” body and making them walk out into the desert and setting their personal bombs off by radio.
Maybe we can get pictures to post of Farrel, just like AP did with one of our heros suffering from fatal wounds.
What goes around comes around.
We should be writing about this and insisting on US intervention immediately, Send over Bill Clinton, send in a special forces rescue etc.
The press is the enemy of America.
I imagine the Taliban just want to show him a little love and appreciation for all the help they receive from the NYT.
Prayers for the reporter just the same
Yawn.
vaudine
Why do they kidnap their friends???
So who should we send over to rescue him? Hillary, Bill, or now that Van is out of work maybe he can travel.
Cue Clinton @ Ron Brown funeral tears!
Kiss ur ass goodbye Stevie!!!!
NYT reporter Farrel will become a conservative one second before the Islamist terrorists cut off his head - too late to make a difference.
A NY Times reporter?
Offer the kidnappers a 9 day old ham sandwich, take it or leave it.
He was no doubt over there to do a story maligning the US military and foreign policy.
I sure didn’t see this coming! /sarc off>
NYT’s chickens . . . come home to ROOST!
He best be able to speak Afgani. Unless terrorists have english translators in house. haaa...
No worries guys.
The New York Times has been supplying the Taliban/Al Quaeda with highly classified American intelligence for years..via the front page headline stories of the New York Times no less.
I am sure the Taliban will soon enough realize how valuable the New York Times reporter is to them..back in the US and busy leaking classified US intelligence to the Taliban, and let the loony left sucker go free ..as usual. Too bad.
Let’s send in Bill and then ask Hillary what Bill thinks about Afghanistan...
I would imagine we’ll soon see an example of the normal practice of the MSM when it comes to displaying the dead bodies of their employees.
The Taliban don’t know all their friends. For one thing most of them know very little English, and about all of them are illiterate in any languge at all.
This does not bother me...
One less reporter that the times will end up being forced to layoff.
....... driver/interpreter have been kidnapped .......
So Sorry for the driver/interpreter, hope that he makes it out ok!
(The MSM reporter is what the reporter does - but I hope he’s ok too!)
The NY Times posted the dying Marine’s photo as well at its “Behind the Scenes” blog.
I wish they would grab Olbermann.
You would think the press would get wise; but they don’t; not even when one of their own is kidnapped.
How stupid can one be?
I’m long past caring what happens to “reporters” who are kidnapped or worse when they’re in war zones.
I’m fairly certain that they have people who probably care about them or love them, but I no longer do. For me the last straw was what AP did to the family of the Marine.
My only regret about this story is that it wasn’t an AP reporter.
