If it was carrying arms for the government of Iran...I hope it is at the bottom of Davey Jone’s locker by now.

When I first heard about this bizarre story, I figured something like this was going on. The KGB rulers of Russia may have changed their identification from communists to “ex”-communists, but they are the same old enemy working with the world’s rogue dictators to create more dictators, just like before.

There is still Soviet blood running in those Kremlin veins.

Good. I first thought send them to the bottom of the sea but there is something much better. Let Israel keep them.

With the Russians involved and the ship transiting the Channel, I'm surprised they didn't find it
wrecked on the Minkies with a load of scrap iron.

Since the Arctic Sea was retaken, Russia has imposed a security blackout. The hijackers, the crew and two investigative teams were flown back to Moscow in three Il-76 air freight planes. For more than a week after being freed the crew were not allowed to talk to their families. The captain and three crew are still on board the ship, which has resumed its voyage to Algeria, but they have not been able to call home. MISLEADING HEADLINE. The ship is no longer 'missing'

Let's face it, it seemed rather "fishy" that a ship would disappear, that there would be no radio transmissions nor satellite images. It was obvious there was a story there someone in the USSR Russia didn't want us to know.

I’d say question how many of the Israeli navy Dolphin class submarines were at sea at the time but if you’re talking about 140m of water it’s too easy to discover torpedo damage on a sunken vessel.

The real B.S. in this coverup is the russian government painting this as rogue military officers and arms dealers/mafia gangs. Russia was likely notified by Mossad that they knew about the S-300 missiles as they were in transit. And they had two choices. Save Face with some b.s. story and get your missiles back or the real story goes public and/or your ship goes to the bottom of the sea.
I mean come the hell on. Take a look at this picture. Iran was going to need/or has already procured all the other toys as well like the radar and control systems from Russia as well to use these missiles. To claim the Russian government was completely clueless that all this hardware was being exported to a major trading partner without their knowledge is beyond fantasy land.

THe enhanced PVO-SV S-300V system, armed with the hypersonic 9M82 and 9M83 missiles, guided by the 9S19M Imbir / High Screen acquistion radar and the 9S32M Grill Pan engagement radar. The missiles use semiactive continuous wave homing, with illuminators on each TEL. The S-300V was designed from the outset as an ABM, to the extent that the specialised High Screen ABM radar is used. Both the S-300V and the S-300PMU-2/S-400 are highly mobile weapon systems, equipped with radio datalinks to connect battery elements.

Reading some of the comments can basically leave one incredulous. Their logic is that since Israel has nuclear and missiles, so should Iran.

Aren't the Russians saying that they can sell Iran whatever the hell they want to? They didn't feel the need to hide it before.
The level of drama and secrecy surrounding the Arctic Sea suggests weapons beyond SAMs. Weapons that cannot be acknowledged.

Here is an article about the missing Arctic Sea Cargo Ship. Although it is long, the second page has a fascinating account about Pirates and Nuclear Weapons. It is recommended reading.
Is Russia setting the stage for a nuclear apocalypse?

Curious why the smugglers chose this route? Why not via the Caspian sea, which both Russia and Iran border? Or via an overland route through a country like Azerbaijan, which both countries share a border with? This is why I found it a little hard to understand the arms would be going to Iran?
