Americas: The U.S. hit Honduras with harsh new sanctions last Thursday, slashing $30 million in aid. Nothing new, but the timing's strange, given that the rest of the world is starting to normalize ties with the tiny state.
That isn't going to be good for us in the long run. Back in June, Zelaya launched an illegal referendum to extend his rule. As recently as Thursday, he called the referendum "necessary to the legislature and the constitution" in a George Washington University speech.
The Honduran Constitution is quite clear: Any president who expresses such talk gets the boot. Hondurans have stood by it.
But the U.S., along with other nations, misread the Honduran Constitution and called it a coup. They vowed to force Honduras to take back Zelaya. The U.S. pulled visas for Honduran officials and businesses. It expelled Honduran diplomats who didn't support Zelaya.
Now it's pulled $30 million in aid and threatens to extend this crisis to forever by not recognizing Honduras' November elections.
It thinks it's part of a group:"This is a regional and international effort," a senior administration official told IBD Thursday. "We've talked to the Europeans . . . so if anything, we'll be redoubling efforts moving forward on this. And no, we're not isolated at all."
But as Honduras remains firm, the rest of the world, sees this and has started to restore normal ties. If this continues, the U.S. will be left holding the bag as the world's bad cop bully.

Freedom-loving people are starting to fight back. The Marxist Bros. like Bammie and Zelaya need to watch each other’s backs. That’s all this is about.
First Fidel,then Hugo,now Barack...this trend needs reversing.
“Freedom-loving people are starting to fight back”
We should send the 100’s of thousands of illegal alien Hondurans in his country back to Honduras to help them.
Good idea. I’m all for it.
When violating our Constitution, it would seem appropriate for our military to ask them to straighten up, or oust the buzzheads. God Bless the Hondurans.
We need to learn something from the Hondurans...
One has to be blind not to see that he is a Marxist
BTTT
...especially Gen Petreaus..
..and he should lead by their example....
“One has to be blind not to see that he is a Marxist”
Apparently being a democrat causes blindness.

US ends up isolated ... siding with Chavez and castro.
wow
just wow
Evidently
Never thought I would see the day that a US President would stand with a leader that tried to overthrow the Constitution of their Country and side with the Communist Castro and Chavez.
Obama is a disgusting chapter in American history.
Big surprise. One thug standing up for another.
This is Obama’s Yankee Imperialism.
From the article: In the end, it's quite likely that the U.S. will be the loser, since it's increasingly clear that this time, we're on the wrong side of history.
Obama & Co. are always on the wrong side of history.
0bama’s defacto regime of Marxists has turned the United States into a rogue nation. I’m sure the rest of the world will be waking up to that and making adjustments before long if they haven’t already.
Was discussing this with my folks today. This, the 0bama regime’s treatment of Honduras is, in my opinion, the single most incontrovertible piece of evidence of the communistic dictatorial nature of 0bama. Even though it’s happening in a remote location and doesn’t really affect us per se, it is truly a shockingly hypocritical act and stance to take.
I think you need the Hondurans to teach you how to get rid of your communist president
I love the Hondurans. They have made freedom-loving people everywhere extremely proud.
The Kenyan Clown has nothing but contempt for our Constitution and for that of Honduras.
Viva Honduras indeed - standing up to US led drive to spread Bolivarian revolution in alliance with Chavez, Castro and Morales. How the world has changed with the US now really being the friend of dictators.
The Honduran Supreme Court played Alka-Seltzer and threw out their headache. Now they have rodents, roaches and other assorted pests called Communists carping at them.
Pests: SHUT UP!

US cuts aid to Honduras in support of ex-leader
{Snip}
Clinton made the decision even though she did not determine that Zelaya's ouster met the U.S. legal definition of a military coup d'etat.
Such a finding would have forced the administration to cut off assistance and had been urged by some leading lawmakers, including Rep. Howard Berman, D-Calif., chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
"This one looks, walks and quacks like a duck," Berman wrote in Thursday's editions of the Los Angeles Times. "It's time to stop hedging and call this bird what it is. And if, for whatever reason, the State Department lawyers do not conclude that this was a coup, Congress should examine other ways by which it can directly affect the flow of aid."
Clinton did not make that finding because Zelaya's ouster involved "the participation of both the legislative and judicial branches of government as well as the military," Kelly said.
So, it wasn't a coup , but the Drive By Media will continue to call it just that?
“I think you need the Hondurans to teach you how to get rid of your communist president”
Agreed!!
This reminds me of what the peanut farmer from Georgia did to the Shah of Persia
What does General Petraeus have to do with this?
