San Marcos: Two Teens Dead, One Hurt in Shooting Newsroom 9/4/2009
Two Luling teenagers are dead and a third seriously wounded after they were shot by a resident in an attempted home invasion early Friday in San Marcos. The shootings happened shortly before 2 a.m. on Chestnut Street on the west side of San Marcos. One 16-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene and a second 16-year old died at Central Texas Medical Center. A third teen, also 16, was transported to Brackenridge Hospital in Austin with serious wounds.
Police are withholding the identities of the teenagers as the investigation continues. A fourth teen, who was uninjured, has been arrested in connection with the home invasion with charges pending.
According to Chief of Police Howard Williams, police responded to a call of a home invasion with shots fired at 1:52 a.m. Friday. When police arrived, they found several people shot by a resident of the home.
Three residents were in the home at the time of the incident and were not injured. Police did not release the names of the residents. The investigation is continuing.
Guns lead to dead “children”. < /sarc >
Of course, for the statistic, they count persons up to age 25 as “children” just as they count up to age 19 as “teen pregnancies” which is why we have seen the headline “teen pregnancies decline after age 25”.
If these kids had tried this in the People's Republic of Massachusetts instead of Texas, they would probably still be alive.
good shooting, shame one got away completely unharmed. Should have taken the injured one to the hospital in a wagon pulled by a horse. If so, they would be approaching a hospital about now.
ping for followup reading...
Too bad the third perp is alive. But I guess it is not too much to ask that the other two are dead!
The only thing criminals are afraid of is someone with a gun.
Kindly old-grandmother loved by one and all: not very many quality of life years left. Time to take the blue pill.
I know I’m cold, but this kind of thing needs to happen more often. When the perceived risk to the criminals is high enough, the crime rate will drop.(In other words, the criminally inclined will make different decisions....)
hh
Prayers for the homeowner. Even though he/she was defending their family, they have to live with killing another person. Can’t be easy no matter what the reason. Also, prayers that this homeowner won’t face any charges.
Short on facts for the teen invaders here, unfortunately I expect either a Tyrone, Pablo, or Juan will be mentioned in the police report.
Statistics was one of my favorite subjects.
Amen to that.
Luling and San Marcos are in Texas...close to Austin.
Good shooting and no consequences to the resident because in Texas you can shoot anyone on your property in the middle of the night.
Linky no worky.
I think this article is trying to say that four teenagers perpetrated a home invasion, then two of them were shot to death by their intended victim, one is still alive in hospital, and the fourth one was arrested. Is this another example of liberal liars twisting facts to pursue an agenda?
Oops ... I thought this happened in San Marcos, California... Now, however, given it came from a source called “KLBJ,” I guess it happened in Texas.
I love happy endings!
I wonder if the uninjured, and the wounded one if he survives will be charged with manslaughter, since there were deaths as a result of their crimes.
Misleading headline of the day......................
I kinda like a wagon with no springs pulled over rough terrain where each jolt to the wounded perp would be a painful one. Of course the trail taken to the hospital will be the longest one.
I have a good friend that is a San Marcos Cop I will see if he can give me the DL on this....
Just think of all the robberies, and perhaps murders, the homeowner prevented, let along the cost of "rehabilitating" these thugs, courtesy the public.
I’m not caring much for the headline - it’s misleading in that one who only reads the headline could conclude that the teens who were shot were the victims.
Honest mistake. Yah, thanks to Castle Doctrine, the residents won’t be charged and can’t be sued by the ‘grieving relatives’. What amazes me is that people still try to break into houses here in Texas. I know everyone on my street here in Austin and out of 26 residences, I know for a fact that 15 of them have firearms in the house (mine included).
There will be more information as the day progresses, I should think.
Sorry--but I always rejoice when it's the perp who dies and not the homeowner/potential victim.
We also know that a lot of news in and around Austin has a very liberal slant to it, don’t we? LOL!
Yep, but I really hate the first impression the headline gives.
Two Criminals Dead, One Hurt in Home Invasion would have been more accurate, IMHO.
Corrected:
Two Thugs Dead One Hurt in Home Invasion
"Citizen Successfully Solves Two Challenges to Life, One Still Remains"
My guess is that the guy transported to Austin was flown and was critical. That is probably their nearest Level 1 or 2 trauma center. That flight probably cost you and me $20K. Then the hospital charges start.
People who form opinions from only reading the headlines deserve to be misinformed.
Headlines are a teaser to read the article, not a Readers Digest version of the story.
Are you kidding me?
Are you KIDDING ME!!!
This home owner will be villified, and the anti-gunners will turn this headline around to read
What a biased headline.
How ‘bout “Teen Home Invaders shot by Resident”
I think officially, it will be scored as two runs, triple and a walk.
:)
Thanks for the working link, Shooter. I just could not seem to get it to work.
I guess perp #3 & 4 should just be glad it wasn’t YOUR house they tried to break in to....
I doubt that very much. This is Texas.
You’re welcome.
I saw the photo of the house with all those overgrown weeds. I’m wondering if the kids thought it was an abandoned house. They could have at least tried knocking first.
No matter. The homeowner did a service to the community.
Whoops. Shooter 2.5 beat me to it. Oh well, here’s another BTTT.
I feel sorry for the parent.................
True on both accounts. However, you know that the headline was written specifically for those who do not read the entire article and with the intent to mislead and mis-inform. This is sophistry of the worse kind IMHO.
I have to wonder with all the carnage for the bad guys that maybe more than one good guy was shooting.
I hope the one that got away sobers up and leaves his gangsta lifestyle. He is still young. There may be hope.
Dont mess with Texas
While this was a home based crime, crime has gone down in Texas since they passed the Right to Carry Laws.
Crime goes down when citizens are lawfully armed.
As per KLBJ Newsroom, a fourth one is in police custody.
