Colorado: Parents win against Obama Propaganda. Here is how they FORCED a student Opt-out 4 9/8/09

Posted on 09/03/2009 7:51:53 AM PDT by steve0

The purpose of this thread is to secure a commitment from each local Principal to provide an opt-out so that no one is forced to endure Obama's subtle, presumptuous speech. Below, I will provide a sample of reasonable letters we want the Principal to sign. If refused, we know where they stand and will take the appropriate action against them. Here is an article of how they roll in Colorado. http://blogs.westword.com/latestword/2009/09/douglas_county_school_allows_p.php It would be useful if the only comments on this thread are how to do this, report your results and contact information for the press to report and follow-up on.

Example of actual letter send and agreed to by local Principal Parents, We have mailed the individual CSAP scores to your homes. Please look for their arrival within the next few days. On September 8, 2009, President Obama will be addressing the children on TV. Some of you have called our office asking if we will be showing the presentation and you have asked that your child not be in the room if we do show the presentation. Only a few classrooms at AWE will be offering the children an opportunity to view the President's speech. If a child chooses not to watch the speech, the child will be sent to our media center to engage in an individual literacy activity directed by the teacher. You will be informed this week by your child's teacher if they will have the option of watching the presentation. After the viewing, there will be no discussion held in the classroom. The follow - up conversation may happen at home with parents. Thanks for your continued involvement, Staci McCormack, Principal

America has OFFICIALLY landed at the intersection of...

ARE you a RACIST?
ARE you a COMRADE?

Meaning if you hold your child back on Tuesday and skip school, or you do not allow the child to enter the auditorium to be brainwashed...

The media will say...

The child is in a RACIST family.

If that child’s teacher is black, you do think your child will have a chance at having a happy and productive school year?

WE ARE “OFFICIALLY AT THE CROSSROADS of “picking a side while using the children”

I’ll either be in the classroom with them.
Or, we’ll take advantage of the great fishing weather here.

THese opt out parents need to see how the schools send a list of names and addresses of parents who opt out to the White House.

If so, a breach of privacy law suit needs to be launched against the school itself.

“If a child chooses not to watch the speech, the child will be sent to our media center to engage in an individual literacy activity directed by the teacher”

what does this mean? Do they actually have to do work versus a free ride of just sitting and watching obama?

Kids already face great peer pressure for a whole host of(TM Obama) things..this is just one more way to divide students.

I’m in Massachusetts and a caller to a radio show here said that her kid was forced to watch a video from Michelle Obama yesterday in class. There was no notice to the parents prior to running it but apparently it was about community service.

This isn't the first time a president has addressed U.S. public school students, and it's not the first time there've been accusations of politicization, either. President George H.W. Bush gave a similar talk in 1991, PolitiFact notes. At the time, then House Majority Leader Dick Gephardt said, "The Department of Education should not be producing paid political advertising for the president, it should be helping us to produce smarter students."

This was a well reasoned civil approach, compared to the bull dozer obama approach.

I think that Principal chose the right way to satisfy everyone and everyone has a chance to allow their child learning moments ( well as much learning as a hitler type speech from barry can be). It sounds like there will be a really good alternative to watching the Dear Leader spout.
THAT was my concern, that kids who didn’t want to be brainwashed would be singled out.

Good job

Here is the synopsis of basically how we are winning. Susan Meek, spokeswoman for the Douglas County School District received many calls of complaints. The office considered the issue and issued a communique to schools on the issue. Next, Staci McCormack, a local Principal took action and agreed to an opt-out policy. Amazingly, the Principal went so far as to alert each and every parent about the choice that they could make for their child under the opt-out policy. She also acknowledged that she’d heard from some parents unhappy at the prospect of their children seeing the Obama speech.

So basically, going that extra mile and making an actual phone call to the Principal can have results and a direct impact.

I had to do that for sex ed in elementary school when my kids were students. AZ had that option, but if we had still been in Cali, they would have been forced to go. Just amazing the power the government thinks they have over good ole Mom and Dad!

People...! It isn’t the speech by Dear Leader that’s the problem. It’s the follow-up “lesson plans”, push-poll questions, etc., the teachers have been provided with that will do a mind f**k on your kids.

How is this video going to be piped into schools/classrooms? Presumably, it will be via the internet, so the White House will be able to tell which schools participate and how many classrooms/computers receive the feed. The amount of info gleaned from this experiment is scary. Also, attendance data is already required from each public school by the federal government. I’m not sure if they require data down to the individual student.

It’d be rather amusing for the computer system to crash during the speech. LOL

Where I went to school the funds that the schools received were based on attendance. Back in the late 80’s the rate was something crazy like $120 per student per day that the schools got funded and they lost that $120 per day each day the kid wasn’t in school.

This is why we could only miss 3 unexcused absences for half a year and a total of 5 unexcused absences for the year.

If it is still the same way they get funded I think the rate would be over $200 per day and if you had a school that had a few hundred students not showing up for a day it would impact the bottom line on the order of $xx,xxx or more.

Here is one approach: 1. Bypass the school board for now(unless you do both) contact the Principal directly 2. Before you talk to the Principal fax or email them the above sample letter tailored to their school. 3. Do not get off the phone until you have a committment to agree to the opt-out provision. 4. Report back to this thread the names, numbers and ,status: agreed to opt-out or refused, so that others don't duplicate your work.

Well consider taking action, just fishing will help your kids but won't help Johnny's classmates.

I believe that this is an insufficient response to this intrusion.

Suppose Dear Leader is wise enough go give only a "welcome back" "do your best" talk. Very benign.

Next talk, probably before summer, more parents will allow their children, and in fact there may be no outcry at all, and that is when he will be free to do a WHAMMY.

This is the time to ELIMINATE ALL this garbage. Just because YOUR CHILD is not a member of Obama's Youth, does not mean that YOU are free from being "reported". Suppose your child's friend is!

This Marxist propaganda ploy must be shut down now.
