PRINCETON, NJ -- In August, an average of 45% of Americans identified as Democrats or leaned to the Democratic Party, while 40% identified as Republicans or leaned to the Republican Party. This 5-point advantage represents a decided narrowing of the gap between the parties from the 17-point Democratic advantage in January.

Obama will crash so badly that even I will pity him.
Tragic that nearly half the country still identifies with that traitorous lot.
Not this ole country Boy. He is on a path to destroy our Country. No Pity from the Red Neck Wing Headed by Voter#537.
You RINO! ;p
As George Costanza will attest, “shrinkage happens” when you spend too much time in the liberal cesspool.
worked the state fair yesterday....3-4 people (that I know of) changed their Registration from DEM to REP....I was only there for 4 hours....
This sounds good but could you give us more background?
I worked in X state or region.... If you do not want to mention the state say a red or blue state in such and such region. SE, Midwest, etc.
Your were at the state fair doing voter registration, judging pie contest, milking cows???
3 to 4 switched in 4 hours. What is normal? Thanks and good job. Hopefully people are waking up.
I was at the State Republican booth as a volunteer....helping get people to sign petitions to overturn some taxes here in OREGON.....we also had REGISTRATION forms, and people took them and said they were changing to Rep from Dems....do NOT know what is normal.
Thanks. OR is a funny place (pretty too). A lot of the state is pretty conservative while Portland and a few other parts are lib.
Were you in a more lib area? I think as far as voting in presidential election - OR is more conservative than CA and WA.
YOU must be kidding....OR is the one with the Assisted Suicide law.....sure....a lot of the state is conservative....the RURAL parts....Portland area RUNS the state, just like Seattle area runs Washington. I’m in the capitol...Salem....it’s kinda half and half.
Thanks neverdem!

The fact that 45% of the people identify with leaning democratic is a sign that there is still a lot of work to be done by libertarians/conservatives in changing the political landscape. Unless we take back our major institutions such as media, entertainment, universities etc.. we will be cooked. 45% is still way too damn high for what should be classified as fringe lunatics. It means that the public perception of democrats is still too mild and not reflective or reality..
