A top Republican senator warned Tuesday that if Democrats try to overhaul health care without Republican support, "it will wreck our health care system and wreck the Democratic Party."
"The intensity on this issue across the country is like nothing I"ve seen in a long, long time," said Sen. Lamar Alexander of Tennessee, the third-ranking Republican in the Senate.
After a month of town halls back home, Alexander said it's clear to him and other Republicans that Americans are "scared to death" about the sweeping policy changes coming from Washington this year and the massive debt they are creating.
Alexander warned there would be "a minor revolution in this country" if Democrats try to "ram" a health care overhaul using a legislative tool called reconciliation, which would allow a bill to pass with 50 votes instead of 60.(continued)

We want Repubs to get real, grow a pair, and submit and push for a bill that starts with cutting corruption in Medicare, Medicaid, tort reform to prevent abuse, laws that ALLOW ins. to offer the coverage people want and need and FORCE ins. to cross state lines and insure small groups without regard to prior illness--for starters.
vaudine
We’re not scared, Lamar, we’re pissed off. Best you know the difference!
I look in vain among the current Republican officeholders for a leader suited to our time and need. Daily the Democrats pile outrage upon outrage on this nation and Republican officeholders mew like kittens or pretend not to notice.
Minor my azz! It's going to be major and just what Obama's waiting for so he can declare a state of emergency and seize control of everything!
Sarah "Barracuda" will clean their clocks! She's the only one who can do it! Of that I am sure!!
Another GOP fossil.
Did you notice one thing, though? The senator had a “month of town halls”. Wow! I’ll bet no Dem went THAT distance. Good on ya, Lamar!
You are so right. They, the D’s and R’s, think we’ll just go on our merry way now that we appear to have “won” on the public option...not a chance.
They’ve awoken a sleeping giant and I personally will not end my fight until they (Congress) are forced by We the People to live within the Enumerated Powers of Article 1 Section 8 of the US Constitution. If we don’t press this fight now, the time may come that we won’t be able to.
Just to put his comments in context w/ your RINO stmt: He voted for The Empty Suits Supreme Court nominee...the Wise Latino Woman. Lamar has been in Dc too long and needs a real job. He’s a RINO make no mistake about that.
.....”a minor revolution in this country......
That is understating the event. Once it starts there will be no cover for the “Rats. They will be literally starved out of their defensive bunkers in the cities.
Lamar! could give McLame,Grahamnesty, or any other Republican CINO a run for the money on being the biggest pantywaist in the Senate.
A few years back when Bush et al. were trying to ram illegal alien amnesty down our throats, Lamar! refused to get off the fence until he was sure which way the vote was going to come out.
He’s as strong as jello and as out of touch as anyone inside the Beltway.
Amen brother rave on. Lamar is pretty much a chair warming SOB
The congress clowns don't even understand that the anger they've seen is only the tip of the iceberg.
I e mailed the Senator this Free Republic thread with this note:
As I sit at my desk looking at the faded poster of a younger Lamar in red nylon jacket and plaid shirt, I remember taking it down from the Blountville telephone pole and bringing it to my office where it has been for many years.
"Come on along" it says
The following is a thread from the number 1 conservative web site in America expressing disdain for what is perceived as cowardice in the face of fire.
We no longer want to "Come on Along"

My biggest concern is the government doing something big like a Reichstag fire, and then turning around and blaming talk radio, Internet, etc to impose Marshal law.
Lamar,
are you aware of the gun and ammo sales since McCain was nominated?
Minor?
They seem to be practicing for it lately. Marshal Law that is...

Exactly the right attitude to take, and that puts an accurate picture on what is going on in this country now. The ObamaCare debacle is only a small part of the problem, if the most emotional part. We want the Federal government to get out of the business of the People and the States.
Lamar’s one of those collegial, compliant senate snuggle pubbies. For him to even admit there’s a controversy brewing over government controlled health care is telling.
