LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A Lubbock woman is suing President Obama.
Dr. Penny Kelso of Lubbock and other members of the Tatriot's Heart Media Group claim that Obama's real name is Barry Soetoro. They claim he is an Indonesian citizen and therefore not entitled to be President.
Dr. Kelso has not returned a call from NewsChannel 11. Meanwhile, the local chairwoman of the Democratic Party says the lawsuit lacks merit.
"The birth certificate is signed, sealed, and delivered. And there's simply no debate. But there is a sense of real desperation on the part of the extreme conservative fringe of the Republican Party," says Pam Brink.

Unless there a lot more concurrent articles, I would be inclined to think that the article’s writer just assumed from what he knew of Obama’s bio that he was born in Indonesia because some of his childhood was spent there (after all, how much depth is a Hawaiian writer going to go into in researching an Illinois politician?). Or the woman he interviewed may have told him that, based on the same assumption.
No doubt Obama is hiding something relative to the birth certificate, but this article is pretty flimsy as any kind of evidence.

I agree with you. Shoddy jouralism seems to be the norm, now. The thing is, there well may be no long form int eh Hawaiian Vital Records. If Barry was born in Kenya or Canada or even Indonesia, unless Madelyn turned over a copy to HI vital records to obtain a HI CoLB for Stanley Ann’s baby, there may not be a record of long form actual birth cert in Hawaii. With Fukino reading lawyerly prepared statements—and she’s not smart enough to use such phrasing—I don’t trust Hawaiian officials at all! They used HI BC registry for anyone applying back when they became a state, to increase their demographics and garner more federal monies.
Just another piece of the puzzle. The picture that is emerging is one that will have to be addressed eventually.

The story in question was written on deadline more nearly four years ago. The story was not about Obama, but Tammy Duckworth. I knew little about Obama at the time, other than that he had lived in Honolulu and graduated from High School here. With time running out, I Googled “Obama (and) birthplace,” (or something similar) – and incredibly the first thing I found said Obama was born in Indonesia! Hey, it looked factual (apparently it was from a site trying to discredit Obama’s Hawaiii origins – so much for trusting Google). Anyhow, that’s what wound up in the story. I quickly, and sheepishly, learned otherwise after the story appeared. I believe a correction soon followed.
So in 2006 there were stories on the internet that Barry was born in Indonesia.
