Nitrous oxide is top destroyer of ozone layer: study
AFP on Yahoo ^ | 8/31/09 | AFP

Posted on 08/31/2009 10:39:20 AM PDT by NormsRevenge

WASHINGTON (AFP) – Nitrous oxide emissions caused by human activity have become the largest contributor to ozone depletion and are likely to remain so for the rest of the 21st century, a US study has concluded.

The study by the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Agency said efforts to reduce chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) in the atmosphere over the past two decades were "an environmental success story.

...

Emissions and production of those substances are regulated under the 1987 Montreal Protocol.

But the treaty excludes nitrous oxides, which are emitted by agricultural fertilizers, livestock manure, sewage treatment, combustion and certain other industrial processes.

Since nitrous oxide is also a greenhouse gas, the scientists said reducing emissions from manmade sources would be good for the ozone layer and help temper climate change.

1) We stick up satellites to measure atmospheric gasses
2) Satellites find hole in ozone almost immediately
3) Nobody assumes ozone, formed by sunlight and O2 interaction, MIGHT HAVE A FREAKIN’ HOLE IN THE POLES IN THE FIRST PLACE, ALL THE TIME AS THERE’S NO SUNLIGHT A GOOD CHUNK OF THE YEAR
4) Commiegreenies get a hold of it and further their elimination of human progress agenda

“...a US study has concluded.”

The word “a” is not plural. These folks who love consensus have to first build one by offering grants to those that will “research” this. Then they need to find an ex-vp to make a movie and announce that “the debate is over”. They can then propose some draconian measures as an excuse to totally control all activity.

Biden should be available for the movie in a few years.

We must also work to reduce H2O, by far the most influential molecule responsible for “climate change”.

And we must do it quickly.

I have a plan (resulting in great profit to me, of course) to ship all this surplus H2O to the sun.

I am awaiting my Nobel Peace prize from the loons in Norway.

More than a few tons of Nitrous were consumed...

Nitrous is an oxidizer that helps fuel burn more quickly - the nitrous is burned, and therefore omitted not emitted.

More high-end systems and multi-stage systems have precise pressure requirements. Any overage is released.
Not to mention purges on nearly all systems that clear the lines of air thereby releasing the NO2.
I put a purge on the lawnmower above.

Same around here.

It's obvious that a nitrogen cap and tax bill is overdue.

The only problem for me is that when I was in high school in the late 1930's, my books said that the atmosphere was 79% N2, 21% O2, with some miscellaneous other gases thrown in.

Hasn't changed much.

But I'll sound the clarion call:

The sky is falling!

Dihydrogen Monoxide - The Truth
The Truth about DIHYDROGEN MONOXIDE
Dihydrogen Monoxide (DHMO) is perhaps the single most prevalent of all chemicals that can be dangerous to human life. Despite this truth, most people are not unduly concerned about the dangers of Dihydrogen Monoxide. Governments, civic leaders, corporations, military organizations, and citizens in every walk of life seem to either be ignorant of or shrug off the truth about Dihydrogen Monoxide as not being applicable to them. This concerns us.
Spreading the Truth about Dihydrogen Monoxide
In 1997, the Dihydrogen Monoxide Research Division was formed and went online spreading the truth about DIHYDROGEN MONOXIDE. As word has spread, so too has the public awareness of Dihydrogen Monoxide and its implications involving the Internet and accessibility of such information. To that end, the DMRD’s web site at DHMO.org continues to provide the most comprehensive collection of Dihydrogen Monoxide information available anywhere.

Common Dihydrogen Monoxide Scare Tactics
Unfortunately, some have seen fit to fill many thousands of web pages with purposely slanted propaganda meant more to titillate and sensationalize than to inform. The following “information” about Dihydrogen Monoxide is what you’ll commonly find on the Internet. The Dihydrogen Monoxide Research Division does not endorse the use of such scare tactics, particularly when telling people about the invisible killer, Dihydrogen Monoxide.

“Ban Dihydrogen Monoxide” written by the Coalition to Ban DHMO © 1988

BAN DIHYDROGEN MONOXIDE - THE INVISIBLE KILLER!
Dihydrogen monoxide is colorless, odorless, tasteless, and kills uncounted thousands of people every year.
What are the dangers of Dihydrogen Monoxide?
Most of these deaths are caused by accidental inhalation of DHMO, but the dangers of dihydrogen monoxide do not end there. Prolonged exposure to its solid form causes severe tissue damage. Symptoms of DHMO ingestion can include excessive sweating and urination, and possibly a bloated feeling, nausea, vomiting and body electrolyte imbalance. For those who have become dependent, DHMO withdrawal means certain death.
Dihydrogen Monoxide Facts
Dihydrogen monoxide:

is also known as hydric acid, and is the major component of acid rain.
contributes to the Greenhouse Effect.
may cause severe burns.
contributes to the erosion of our natural landscape.
accelerates corrosion and rusting of many metals.
may cause electrical failures and decreased effectiveness of automobile brakes.
has been found in excised tumors of terminal cancer patients.
Dihydrogen Monoxide Alerts
Contamination is reaching epidemic proportions!
Quantities of dihydrogen monoxide have been found in almost every stream, lake, and reservoir in America today. But the pollution is global, and the contaminant has even been found in Antarctic ice. In the midwest alone DHMO has caused millions of dollars of property damage.

Dihydrogen Monoxide Uses
Despite the danger, dihydrogen monoxide is often used:
as an industrial solvent and coolant.
in nuclear power plants.
in the production of styrofoam.
as a fire retardant.
in many forms of cruel animal research.
in the distribution of pesticides. Even after washing, produce remains contaminated by this chemical.
as an additive in certain junk-foods and other food products.
Stop the horror - Ban Dihydrogen Monoxide
Companies dump waste DHMO into rivers and the ocean, and nothing can be done to stop them because this practice is still legal. The impact on wildlife is extreme, and we cannot afford to ignore it any longer!
THE HORROR MUST BE STOPPED!

The American government has refused to ban the production, distribution, or use of this damaging chemical due to its importance to the economic health of this nation. In fact, the navy and other military organizations are conducting experiments with DHMO, and designing multi-billion dollar devices to control and utilize it during warfare situations. Hundreds of military research facilities receive tons of it through a highly sophisticated underground distribution network. Many store large quantities for later use.

IT’S NOT TOO LATE!

Act NOW to prevent further contamination. Find out more about this dangerous chemical. What you don’t know CAN hurt you and others throughout the world.

We must put an end to seasonal climate change!

How could the secular religionists of climate change [previously known as global warmongers] overlook the inevitable approach of winter, and the deleterious effects of elevated fuel oil, natural gas, and electricity usage, along with the contamination of our waterways by salt and grit runoff to make our snow and ice caked roadways passable.

Nitrous oxide isn't fuel, it is an oxygen substitute. Think of it this way. Instead of turning ordinary oxygen into carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide they destroyed several tons, (tons? unlikely) of dangerous nitrous oxide at the event. They did the earth a favor, if you believe the environmentalist morons.

BTW oxygen also destroys ozone. Next they will be calling for a ban on oxygen.
