BURBANK, Calif. - Spider-Man and Iron Man have a new boss: The Walt Disney Co.

Disney announced this morning that it is buying Marvel Entertainment -- and the more than 5,000 Marvel characters.

They include X-Men, Captain America, Fantastic Four and Thor.

"This is a great fit for us," Disney boss Bob Iger told CNBC this morning. He said the acquisition was a way to attract more boys.

Disney said the transaction value is $50 per Marvel share -- or about $4 billion. Iger said the acquisition will grow both Disney and Marvel.

Nah. Thor is a hippy environment loving protestor.

Great point. Marvel was already trending leftie in the mags, but the movies had remained fairly meat-and-potatoes. But Disney? Ugh. What used to be a byeword for quality and family-friendly movies has become a haven for homosexual-friendly messages. So, I guess we’ll see the Hulk “come out” and marry the Thing.

Disney Corp. has been fighting the Milne estate to argue that Winnie The Pooh SHOULD be a public domain figure.

Or definitely will change how the whole subplot is viewed in “Adventures In Babysitting” talking about Thor being gay.

The X-Men movie franchise was an “argument” for gay rights. Casting an outspoken homosexual as a lead character was only icing on top.

hence Marvel’s present second rate status.

Marvel USED to be legendary in their incompetence in moving from pages to screen.

Once Sony too over, Spiderman was their first success. (anyone remember the FIRST spiderman trailer? the helecopter caught in a spiderweb between the twin towers.)

Homosexual characters = marketing flop and money wasted.

The only Disney character who I could relate to was Scrooge McDuck. You can’t beat a guy who keeps all of his assets as cash lying loose on the floor in a huge building on top of a hill with giant dollar signs engraved on the sides.

But now they can subject Winnie to gamma rays and produce The Incredible Pooh...

“Stan doesn’t own anything with Marvel anymore I believe.”

Didn’t the Clintoons see to the fact that Stan Lee was ruined? Or at least maimed?

Northstar was gay. It was hinted at even in the first issue, but I think he “came out” within the first couple of years.

Lasseter is the head of the animation division of Disney. His first order of business was to save Disney’s brand name by killing their entire “straight to DVD” department.

I don’t know if he will have anything to do with the Marvel acquisition though.

The Pirates was ridiculous. First, they had the pirates chasing women (pretty true, although having some of them chase men would have also been historically accurate); then they had them chasing women with food (gimme a break. That’s the first thing you think about after months at sea?); then they had the women chasing the pirates (uhhhh, no.)

Does this mean that Marvel Comics is now officially "The Mouse of Ideas"...?

About 10 or so years ago Marvel was on the rocks. It literally took out around a $1 billion loan to bet on movies being more profitable than comic books. Looks like it worked out well.

If their movies had flopped, Marvel would have gone bust a long time ago.

I was happy when he killed that elton john project about some prince...

Disney CORPORATE is savy enough to know that family friendly means Mommy and Daddy and baby makes three. This is why the deny having anything to do with the early june homosexual days at the park. They know homosexuals are bad for the family business.
