AUBURN, Calif. -- A fast-moving wildfire burned dozens of homes and scorched hundreds of acres Sunday afternoon in Placer County, prompting Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to declare a state of emergency. The fire started near Highway 49 and Bell Road in north Auburn at about 2:20 p.m. (map). It destroyed at least 60 structures, many of them homes in the North Park and South Park subdivisions, and the blaze burned about 275 acres overall. "It's absolute devastation. My sister's house is up there, and we think it's the only one standing," resident Jody said. "We weren't able to get back into the neighborhood earlier."

My brother lives and works near there (meadow vista/auburn) and my parents are buried at Auburn cemetery...living there was great. My thoughts are with the people in Auburn and surrounding communities.
I live in Meadow Vista and it is scary because we are so dry.
we hosed down the house last night.
Do you know any Mapas?
I love MV... we lived on McElroy Road. Do you go to Dog Bar and Plum Tree?
Prayers to the people in Auburn. I live in Placerville and know how easily this could happen here... My family sends it prayers.
