During several of those years that McCain was a POW Kennedy worked closely with "anti-war," our-troops-are-war-criminals groups that encouraged the NV Communists to just hang on, help was underway in the U.S.
(I mean groups that helped the NV Communists besides the American press.)
Yes, Ted worked with Kerry to undermine the war effort here at home during Vietnam, and he also worked to undermine Ronald Reagan by working directly with the Soviet government during the early 1980s.
Ted was a traitor, a domestic enemy of the Constitution and of America.
That he will be planted in Arlington is a travesty of the highest level.
I believe that McCain was shot down in late 1967 and spent five-and-a-half years as a POW. In 1968 the U.S. forces and allies virtually destroyed the Communists' Viet Cong.
I believe that the NV Communists were then ready for serious talks and a settlement.
Kennedy, Kerry, et al IMO kept the war going and they kept McCain and others prisoners far longer than it should have been. It don't make a lick of sense that McCain can be buddies with them.
.. and I wonder about Kennedy. Was it ideology or did the Communists have something on him? Good heavens! Given what we did know at the time there's probably dead girls all over the place.

I think Ted was compromised with the Soviets early on in his sordid life. By 1969-1970, with the antiwar movement in full swing, Teddy was clearly in their camp.
His betrayal of South Vietnam in 1975, the Church Amendment, and his traitorous actions during the early Reagan years made it clear the Evil Empire had a hold on him. The 1986 Amnesty might have part of the whole deal.
When you look at his career from 1969 on, there was a clear anti-American cast to his actions. The question is why, when he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth?
