The Huffington Post explains that "Melissa Lafsky is the deputy web editor at Discover magazine, where she writes the Reality Base blog. She was previously the editor of the New York Times's Freakonomics blog, and is a former associate editor at HuffPo's Eat The Press." So she's a major-media-certified pundit when she wrote about Chappaquiddick drowning victim Mary Jo Kopechne on Arianna's pages today:

That’s the compassionate Left at it’s most honest. One life means nothing in the quest for a perfect society (run by Liberals, of course).

I wonder if Mary Jo was holding the elevator for Ted with her finger on the Down Button.

These Liberals are pretty twisted.

The abyss=like depth of the stupidity required for anyone to think, much less publish a piece of debris like this is breathtaking.

arguably being a catalyst for the most successful Senate career in history.

She fell off the credibility scale right there. This person was a journalist for the NYT's. Every time I see that ad for the NYT where the guy says there's no debating that the NYTs has the best reporters....I just have to snicker.

There was an article written (Boston newspaper?) a few years ago stating that Mary Jo would have reached retirement age at that time and would have benefited from Kennedy’s work for retirees. Ouch!

The logic of the Culture of Death, which at least one person suggests is Kennedy's legacy.

Lets make it clear for those Democrats in South Carolina, Ted Kennedy killed his mistress and still got to be a Senator for 40 years!

She may have been inspired by this famous 2004 quote:

“If she had lived, Mary Jo Kopechne would be 62 years old. Through his tireless work as a legislator, Edward Kennedy would have brought comfort to her in her old age,”

Mark Sanford.

The same media that has ignored a dead mistress is drumming a Governor for a live one.

Let me interven here. SC Governor Mark Sanford had a mistress, who is STILL alive. The Dems want to run him out of office.

I certainly agree criminally negligent homicide or manslaughter and an obscure mistress are hardly similar.

Next time give us some context.

Let me get this straight; this is the same Ted Kennedy that was 1. expelled twice from Harvard. once for cheating and once for paying a classmate to cheat for him 2. while in the service never was promoted past the rank of private. 3. Injured in a plane crash in 1964 while being legally intoxicated. And the list goes on and on and on for the loud boisterous drunk. This is the paragon of virtue that Mary Jo should have been willing to lay her life down for? Please ... how wacked are these people?

Maybe we should ask the douchebag Lafsky if she would like to switch places with Mary Jo. I personally wouldn't trade the life of a maggot for Ted Kennedy or his traitorous career in the senate. It's as if she had to one up the other talking heads fawning over the fat drunk and dead coward.

The world has spiraled into madness and a sickening brew of amorality.

Liberalism tells us “there’s really no “right”, there’s really no “wrong”.
To say THAT there is clear opposite poles would be “judgemental”. Not politically ‘correct’ certainly.

Nevermind that “rules, judgements and socially accepted values” are what have held every hamlet, village, metropolis, empire and the entire civilized world together from the beginning of time. Not to mention the most vast cooperative, competitve system of all—DOH-—nature! Lots of judging going on there—hence it sustains.

But liberals are idiots you see. Not big picture thinkers. Can’t see patterns, can’t see cause and effect. Just ‘feel-good for the moment, sounds good for the fashion’, thinkers.

But back to the point—the fact that this grotesque writer has no compunction in writing such an outrageous comment about the doomed Mary Jo tells us what happens to our social fabric when we abandon common sense.

We caved. We allowed ourselves to be ridiculed away from faith, principles, belief and adherence to clear, demonstrable and concrete definitions of right and wrong.

Away from our ‘true north’. Away from what has sustained the great American miracle.

This is the result of endless, relentless lampooning of our strong and eons-proven ideals by faux intellectual liberal blatherskites that have hijacked the ubiquitous 24/7 stream of popular culture—now glued in unholy alliance to our policy makers—where even legislators have a shallow, packaged, “celebrity quotient”.

This is what happens when the weaker among us start to question our traditions, beliefs and convictions after decades of being firehosed and ridiculed as rigid, narrow minded, uptight, non-”progressive” by the vapid celebrity and media “elite”.

The ‘celebrity and media elite’ who just so happen to be the most twisted, gluttonous, dishonest, immoral, dysfuntiontional, narcissistic sample of humanity in the country.

And yet they are emulated and followed by our youth and we have allowed them to shape our world.

This is what happens when some of us give in to the endless barrage of media noise that conservatives are stupid, greedy, religious ‘nuts’ and hypocrites, and just “not nice” people....and sin of sins in this shallow age, in no way HIP. Basically laughable losers.

The weaker among us want to be ‘included”. We quiet down, pull back, even transform robotically our deepest convictions in a collision with our innermost ‘gut’.

We do not boycott films and media outlets that tender destructive and vile garbage. We “go along” to get along.

All that is ‘right and wrong’ is on a sliding scale.

Entertainment is god.

The sickening comment from a empty-skulled journalist that Mary Jo might have thought that her agonizing death was “worth it” to advance a corrupt, debauched politician’s ambitions shows how far we’ve allowed ourselve to fall.

This is the deterioration of all that we hold dear — we are seeing it decay as we fold from sheer weight of the massive liberal programming onslaught—we are exhausted by the slamming, we have been attacked from every front—our ground disappears, our world is transformed.

We need to wake up on EVERY LEVEL. We are losing our souls in this country.

From a practical perspective, I do not patronize movies anymore with my dollars. Hollywood and its disgusting set of scripted, empty-headed, polished puppets and politically driven meglomanical puppetmasters is the sewer of the world.

The liberal democrat party with its dishonest, vain and hungry borg of political power calculating the dependent enslavement of all but its innermost ruling elite is its hideous lover.

“Maybe Mary Jo would thought have it was worth it”

A comment like that is what happens when “liberalizing” everything gives nothing any meaning at all.

We must not falter. Speak up everywhere, to anyone. No more going along to get along. Courage of true convictions cannot be compromised.

If Mary Jo Kopechne Would 'Feel It Was Worth It'

Yeah, too bad he killed her. To bad she didn't get a chance to grow old, to have kids, to live her own life.

Too bad the Whale killed her and left her to die and then lied his way out of it.

Too bad....

To quote William Munny (Clint Eastwood) in Unforgiven, "Hell of a thing, killin' a man. Take away all he's got and all he's ever gonna have."

How does Teddy make up for killing someone and not saving them when they could... ?
