Recall a congressman?
I’ll volunter mine. He’s Mark Schauer in Michigan’s 7th district.
He’s Nancy’s golden boy. I call him Golden Schauer.
*snicker*
Awesome.
recall a congressman? why yes, i do. he was rep. richard h. ichord, democrat of missouri 8, who was chairman of the ohuse unamerican activities committee in the mid and late 1960s. hated and despised by the antiwar crowd, he was nevertheless a total jerk. i recall him vividly.
Congressmen and senators cannot be recalled. The Constitution only provides for election.
Can I put up my entire state of NY?
Members of the public who would like to participate, as well as members of the press who would like to listen in, should dial 1-877-269-7289, enter PIN number 13909, and follow the automated instructions."
I didn't want to talk to him on the phone, if I got to say anything at all. Who knows how these teleconferences are handled. They can eliminate you, I'm sure.
Very disappointing.
That’s too bad. Thanks for the info.
Our protest outside his office.

We need some of the best minds on here that are familiar with the steps needed. I’m in if it’s a possiblity. Could you imagine the ruckus??
Yep, what he said.
Only the Senate can remove a sitting senator, and only the House can remove a sitting Representative.
I’m not sure all states have that provision. I think that states that do only need someone to start a petition.....not sure though.
well, and as we learned this week, the Almighty.
I wish we could vote every liberal and every moderate out of office and keep just those who believe we should abide by the Constitution, as it was written.
Thanks to all for your posts.
Your post made that obvious. Not all states have recall.
If the politicians have read the Constitution like they have read the other Bills.......we are in trouble.
Great work!! Yeah, you guys look like a pretty wooly mob, what with your homemade posters and all.
Thanks for the link to your pics!
Was the Schauer Boy there to witness the protest/counter protest?
I don’t get the “throw them ALL out” movement. It’s like zero tolerance. You can’t use drugs, so we’re suspending you for taking an aspirin. My congressman’s a good guy with a solid 100 rating from the ACU, so I think I’ll keep him.
Golden Schauer spoke to the Obamaturfers an hour before our protest was due to start. (After saying he was too busy to hold a townhall metting)
Figures. What a loser.
I’m for term limits with a twist.
My idea is that they can serve two full terms but can’t run for a 3rd consecutive term. They can run again but they have to sit one out.
Tom McClintock is as conservative as they come!
Recalling Federal Officeholders CANNOT be recalled. Work harder to get good people elected in 2010/2012.
Prior to the 17th amendment couldn’t the State legislatures recall their senators? Seems like a loop hole has been created if in fact we use to have the ability but have lost it.
Senators have have always had six-year terms whether chosen by State legislators or by popular vote. Legislators could not recall or remove their chosen senators, they just chose someone else to serve the next six years.
Now that is a good suggestion! Every district should find someone (a conservative) to run in 2010.
Under no circumstances. We can't do it. They can only be removed by their fellows in Congress.
US Constitution, Art I, Section. 5.
...
Each House may determine the Rules of its Proceedings, punish its Members for disorderly Behaviour, and, with the Concurrence of two thirds, expel a Member.
You really should *read* the Constitution
We’ve got three in Oregon

National congressional recall day.
No, we can’t Constitutionally, and I wouldn’t want to change that, however some states allow for Recall of State Legislatures, and I’d say: Go for it! recall every socialist.
If the Constitution does not directly address it then it is left to the state to determine recall. The Constitution just says they will serve 2 or 6 year terms, not that they are guaranteed those years. Some states have laws covering removal.
And if they do, those laws are unconstitutional.
Read about Frank Church.
In 1967, a recall campaign was waged against Church by Ron Rankin, a Republican county commissioner in Kootenai County in northern Idaho. Rankin unsuccessfully sued Idaho's secretary of state to accept recall petitions. The U.S. District Court for Idaho ruled that the state's recall laws did not apply to U.S. senators and that such a recall would violate the U.S. Constitution. Allan Shepard, Idaho's attorney general at the time, agreed with the court's decision.
"It must be pointed out that a United States senator is not a state officer but a federal officer whose position is created by Article I, Section I of the United States Constitution," Shepard wrote in a June 17, 1967, opinion for the secretary of state. "There seems to be no provision for canvassing the votes of a recall election of a United States senator."
Love your Country. Do not Trust your government.
In other words, there’s no getting rid of the basturds—and by election time nobody’s p!zzed anymore—besides half the voters or more are commies anyway...
Most of the voters have no idea what communism is, did not really vote for totalitarianism and are going to start hating it really quickly, once they recognize that it has been imposed. It is going to take a miracle recovery and the evaporation of all personal and national threat from this administration to allow folks to forget and stop being po’d.
Oh, and when someone starts in on you about equality: in the national service bill, there is a provision for a $500/month stipend. There is also a provision for a $750/month stipend for any minority. I wish I had noted paragraph and page number, but I didn’t. It is near the end, IIRC.
Fairness. Equality. Democracy.
Regardless of what these others are saying on this site YOU CAN RECALL a congressman in certain states. Louisiana has a congressman who will be soon facing a recall if the citizens get the needed signatures on the petition. There are only certain states that permit a recall.
The following are the 18 states where state representatives can be recalled: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, North Dakota, Oregon, Rhode Island, Washington and Wisconsin. The District of Columbia also allows recalls.

The constitution does not prohibit the recall of congressmen and therefore this falls under the 10th ammendment which gives the rights to the states and the people.
