Believe me, I never imagined that I'd one day leave my beloved home state, but the sad fact is, the California I was born and raised in disintegrated a long time ago.
I was forced to uproot my business and my family because of the deteriorating conditions there. Once you become aware of something, you can't pretend you don't see it. We had to go.
I've got four little ones to think of. In good conscience, I couldn't abandon their futures to chance in that place. Where we are now is a lot more like the California of my youth. I think my kids have a much better chance here in Texas, than in our home state.
You are correct. For me, Texas was a wonderful place to grow up. We moved there from New Jersey when I was a kid. After the culture shock wore off, I had a great childhood.
Texans are great, freedom loving people, and it certainly rubbed off on me.
that’s mowing, not plowing...
I am sure you can all imagine the pride with which I viewed the WHEAT field outside of Lubbock. Sam Bates is now one of my many heroes!
