Inspired by Saul Alinsky, FCC 'Diversity' Chief Calls for Confrontational Movement to Give Public Broadcasting Dominant Role in Communications Wednesday, August 26, 2009 By Matt Cover
(CNSNews.com) Mark Lloyd, chief diversity officer of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), called for a confrontational movement to combat what he claimed was control of the media by international corporations and to re-establish the regulatory power of government through robust public broadcasting and a more powerful FCC.
Lloyd expressed his regulatory call to arms in his 2006 book, Prologue to a Farce: Communications and Democracy in America (University of Illinois Press).
In the book, Lloyd also said that public broadcasting should be funded through new license fees charged to the nations private radio and television broadcasters, and that new regulatory fees should be used to fund eight new regional FCC offices.
These offices would be responsible for monitoring political advertising and commentary, childrens educational programs, number of commercials, and content ratings of the programs.
Frequently referencing one of his heroes, left-wing activist Saul Alinsky, Lloyd claims in his book that the history of American communications policy has been one of continued corporate control of every form of communication from the telegraph to the Internet.

Left wing nut.
how many wingnuts will surface or be appointed before the coffin is tightly sealed on liberty?
The coffin will not be sealed on liberty....
Yet another communist in Obama’s administration. How many is that now?
...”confrontational movements” amongst minorities move us a little further down the road to the coming race war....the Left knows this, hense their desire to disarm law abiding gun owners.
What the hay does “confrontational movement” mean?
Sounds like some left-wing psychotic is advocating violence.
IMHO
Like when the SEUI sends in the 300 pound goons that shove cameras in peoples faces or push people around. But we got to see it on Youtube. You precious SEUI and ACORN scum will be found out, Lloyd.
The march toward implementing the fairness doctrine and suppressing the First Amendment begins.
Perhaps not on the ideal, but perhaps on the embodiment.
However, history has its Houdinis.
Pity it may have to get to that.
Anyway, the question remains and for your, reformulated: how many wingnuts till a generation is wasted and there has to be a war for liberty?
rephrase it anyway you like, split hairs if you will with the premises, the question still remains? How many more?
“These offices would be responsible for monitoring political advertising and commentary, childrens educational programs, number of commercials, and content ratings of the programs. “
The Ministry of Thought and Propaganda.
I think the groundswell of peaceful revolt by otherwise un-involved people is what makes me believe we are turning this around.
They have awakened a sleeping giant: Middle/Upper Middle Class white people.
The shouting and screaming at TownHall meetings hopefully will serve as a reminder to the extremists in Washington: You serve at our pleasure...
Neither Progressive era reforms nor new communications technologies have been able to correct the problems resulting from government abdication of a responsibility to advance the equal capability of citizen discourse, Lloyd added.
Amazing. The bald face advocating of government tyranny.
This looks like it’s way beyond the fairness doctrine!
Is that you, Charlie?
It’s Claire Wolfe Time.
Pretty much all of them, I'm afraid.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

What he advocates is clearly Un-Constitutional.
Obozo's minions simply choose to ignore the restraints placed on government by the Constitution. They choose to pretend that it is no longer relevant. They are Wrong.
Anarchist sit-ins and studio take-overs, coming to a JACK-FM station near you.....
So TRUE. Liberty NEVER dies, only those that defend it come and go.
Instead, Obama uses yet another "czar" - an Executive branch officer within the FCC accountable to no one except him. His purpose is to promote a "local control" policy whose primary impact would be to regulate programming to insure it focused on diverse" views and government activities in the "public interest". In essence, private broadcasters would be taxed in order to support their governmental competitors - just like the "public option" in Obama's health care plan!
Among the many examples of incipient Fascism we have witnessed from this Administration, this is perhaps the most dangerous, and in my view, the most likely to incite something more than simple protest.
This sort of tyranny has been on the globalist agenda a long time.
They are now so brazenly confident they can’t be stopped, it’s surfacing all over the place.

So, does this mean this guy will break up GE’s NBC/MSNBC/CNBC, etc....? They’re this admin’s biggest cheerleaders, lol.
Right you are. We are dealing with a movement inspiried by third world dictatorships. Chavez activists and media...
>The march toward implementing the fairness doctrine and suppressing the First Amendment begins.<
yep, they don’t like protesters against their agenda like tea party goers, but what they like less is them getting attention.
Anything to stop it has to be top in their priority. Only government sponsored and approved media will be tolerated by Obama ... hes a socialist / fascist
We just move on to the next “box of liberty”.
When?
In the book, Lloyd also said that public broadcasting should be funded through new license fees charged to the nations private radio and television broadcasters, and that new regulatory fees should be used to fund eight new regional FCC offices.
Go for it numbnuts...Watch what happens...
So the idiot liberals want to start a fight over the First Amendment? I’ll see any confrontational movement they want to dish out... through my open sights.
I believe we’ll see after the 2010 election whether the ballot box has been so severely corrupted that it’s no longer a viable box of liberty.
Sort of like INGSOC in George Orwell's 1984
Glenn Beck is a MUST watch tonight. Don’t miss it.
The Moving Boxright of association, in particular territorially via migration
The Soap Boxright of free speech
The Ballot Boxright to a voice in your government
The Jury Boxright to a trial by jury of your peers
The Ammunition Boxright to threaten or use appropriate violence in self-defense
They're being closed, one by one.
So a socialist wants to raise taxes and stifle freedom of speech. I’m shocked, shocked I tell you.
Encouraging as it is, it's too early to tell. In fact, it's always too early, as "no cause is truly won because no cause is truly lost."
If nothing else, this is one terrific test of "the American experiment."
I am confident the founders and all patriots and soldiers have prayed that we pass that test.
But the cost is probably going to be far outside the reach of most people.
What is a “diversity chief”? I really hope I’m not paying taxes to fund this man’s salary and his nonsensical opinions.
These are dangerous idea from the far left. The federal government already has too much influence over the news media and this man wants to give the FCC more power over the media. The GOP has got to retake the House in 2010 to stop this radical craziness.
Talk to me folks, will Beck/El-Rushbo be broadcasting from a trawler of the coast of Bermuda?
The Lloyd will use “diversity mandates” to crowd out conservative talk radio programs by means of diversity mandates” that will force station owners to include shows reflecting “racial balance”, “ethnic balance”, “gender balance”, “gender-identity balance”, or whatever other silliness nobody will listen to.
After conservative space is squeezed down to next to nothing, he will finish the job by by means of “confrontation”, i.e., using local community leaders and activists to lean on station owners to get rid of any remaining offensive programs.
Perhaps it is time to crank up a pirate radio station. Remember the movie, “Pump Up the Volume”?
Have you checked the price of .38 ammo?
You are right, but for different reasons, IMHO: these radicals will be using the Executive branch to reach their goals first, not Congress...so I'm not sure if the 1st Amendment would apply here, would it? What about the powers that the Constitution gives to the Executive branch in Section II -- would they find some "implied" power in one if the clauses in that part of the Constitution?
This Traitorous Congress is allowing him to totally disregard the Constitution.
Treason is a serious charge.
Very Serious Charge, but their actions indicate this.
Have been a Ham since 1976, know about such things.
Also have a commercial license.
Yes, there is still a place for HF communications.
Libs are all tough in their college bull sessions and coffee shops, but it doesn’t occur to them that they can just as easily be on the business end of a confrontatuonal posture, as soon as they can enjoy being confrontational themselves.
Like my granny used to say, these people have been drinking too much of their bath water.
I appreciate hearing your reply. I’m glad to see that I’m not the only one who is willing to use the “T-word” against either Obama or Congress. After listening to Glen Beck all week, that’s the only honest word that I can think of re: what they / he is doing to US, & I have been meaning to write Beck & ask why he has not yet used that word.
