The inspector general's office for the Social Security Administration is looking into the problem as part of its broader audit on stimulus spending. The Social Security Administration acknowledged the $425,000 glitch following a report that nearly two-dozen inmates in Massachusetts had wrongly received the $250 stimulus checks.

These inmates probably are ACORN workers. My guess is that ACORN workers all got money from the stimulus as a thank you and keep up the good work incentive.

Maybe the best answer to providing medical insurance coverage to the uncovered is to figure out what it would cost to buy private health insurance for them, and then fire as many federal employees as it takes to cover the cost of it. Just randomly select the ones to go. It won’t matter which ones get the pink slip anyway, and if the government has to choose, it will take them a decade or more to do so as they flounder about trying to insure that the cuts fall evenly among departments, and don’t harm any special interest groups, minorities or women, gay, lesbian, transgendered, and, of course, all the other special considerations bureaucrats can come up with.
