We give up freedom one little piece at a time. Sometimes you can see the nature of the beast when it gets too brazen.

Ah, Taxachussets. I didn't think it could be Springfield, Missouri.
There are not enough beer trucks in Milwaukee to haul off all the legal guns in Southwestern Missouri.

Delaney said the shooting appears to be gang-related, and Hughes was known to police.Known gangs and gang members but they're going after the guns.
If they had cracked down on the gangs the shooting probably wouldn't have happened.

Someone should start a ping list and track the recent “Martial Laws,” “Temporary Government Shut Downs,” “Law Enforced Curfews,” etc. It would be interesting to see how far this let’s shut down the local governments and local activities while we increase police presence goes.

You should ask the Mods to add the words “Martial Law” to the title of this post.

Swan said more may be needed, and suggested police be allowed to operate under what he called "a short period of martial law." The move, over a period of 30 to 60 days, would give police the power to sweep all the illegal guns in the city. "No one I know has gotten shot with a legal gun," he said. Not until you start rounding up arms in defiance of both the Second Amendment to the US Constitution.
General Thomas Gage would be right proud of you though. He tried rounding up "illegal" guns too.

Didn't work out too well for him though.
On a more serious note. The Courts have ruled that martial law is not allowed as long as the regular courts are still functioning. Thus it might be allowed after some natural disaster or foreign invasion. But not because you can't do your job. I say the good citizens of Springfield should fire your ash and restore the right of the people to keep and bear arms. It was good enough for Revere, the Adams brothers, and the many other patriots whose state you and your ilk have stained.
