Cheney: new doubts about Obama By: Mike Allen August 25, 2009 07:51 AM EST
Former Vice President Dick Cheney said in a statement Tuesday that the Obama administration's decision to name a prosecutor to look into Bush-era interrogations of suspected terrorists should foster "doubts about this administrations ability to be responsible for our nations security.
"The people involved deserve our gratitude," Cheney said. "They do not deserve to be the targets of political investigations or prosecutions."
Cheney maintains that records released this week show that waterboarding and other harsh interrogation techniques "provided the bulk of intelligence we gained about al Qaeda" after the Sept. 11 attacks.
Cheney said in the statement: The documents released Monday clearly demonstrate that the individuals subjected to Enhanced Interrogation Techniques provided the bulk of intelligence we gained about al Qaeda. This intelligence saved lives and prevented terrorist attacks. These detainees also, according to the documents, played a role in nearly every capture of al Qaeda members and associates since 2002.

"Fraunces Tavern is a restaurant and museum in lower Manhattan, New York City. It was built on the site of a former building which played a significant role in pre-Revolutionary activities, and in which, on 4 December 1783, General George Washington bade farewell to his officers at the end of the Revolution, before returning to his home, Mount Vernon."

"During the 1970s and 1980s, FALN members set off at least 138 bombs in five major U.S. Cities. Six Americans were killed in those attacks. One of those bombings, in January 1975, was at the historic Fraunces Tavern in lower Manhattan while patrons were at lunch. The explosion killed four and injured more than 50."

"Between 1974 and 1985 the FALN (Puerto Rican Armed Forces of National Liberation) organized 120 terrorist bombings in the United States. Many Americans were killed in those bombings, and many more were crippled. In 1983, another Puerto Rican terrorist group known as the Macheteros, attacked and robbed a Wells Fargo armored car in Connecticut. The Macheteros intended to use the money to finance a terrorist campaign against the United States. Working under the cover of Puerto Rican nationalism and claiming to act on behalf of the 'oppressed people of Puerto Rico,' the FALN and the Macheteros are nothing but Communist revolutionaries. Both groups were organized by Fidel Castro's secret police. The ultimate goal of the FALN and the Macheteros is the creation of an independent Marxist-Leninist dictatorship on the island of Puerto Rico."

Bump
Last time Obama and the Dems tried to take on Cheney, they got their ass handed to them. Cheney won that argument big time. Now they’re doing it again (for reasons COMPLETELY unknown to me) and the stakes are higher. My money is on Dick Cheney and the brave men in the CIA.
It doesn’t really raise new doubts. There was never much doubt Obama is a terrorist-sympathizing far-left radical.
We need to get rid of these American haters.
These doubts are new?
Great info, ETL.
I was thinking about this last night and I have come to the conclusion that Cheney, may have almost singlehandedly been responsible for the lack of successful attacks against the U.S after 9-11.
The sheer fact that the Zero Administrations and it’s minions are hellbent on destroying anyone that fought the attacks on us, makes it very clear as to WHAT side the Zero bunch are on. AND IT’S NOT THE SIDE OF THE UNITED STATES,
Cheney is so far above their thinking process it’s funny.
The Obama Administration is a combination of Mickey Mouse in the Sorcerer’s Apprentice and kids playing with matches and gasoline.
It doesn't raise new doubts among us ... but consider the folks who are reading these memos, and seeing the stories about Leon Panetta, and Obama's team starting their own interrogation unit....
That'll raise doubts among a whole new set of folks.
Yep Cheney will hand them their nuts.
It’s a shame Cheney didn’t run for president.
Hear! Hear!
Cheney is the biggest distraction the Dims can come up with right now. Notice every time their plans seem to be on the rocks they trot this crap out, hoping to deflect attention from what is really happening? I don't think it's going to work because the average Joe doesn't harbor ill feelings towards the former Veep. Personally, he's in the top five on my list of folks I'd love to sit down and have a chat with....
No, it is NOT funny.
It is frightening that we have evil clowns in charge of our national security.
BUMP! I get p*ssed about it every day. I don’t think I’ll EVER get over it until every last enemy is DEAD; foreign and domestic!
I’ll bet you a donut that 9/11 is totally glossed over this year by this Administration. Oh, there might be some wreath-laying or something, but I’ll bet the underlying message will be, “Move on, Folks. Get over it. Just reach out! Muzzies are our friends!” *SPIT*
Spot on!
Thank God we had Mr. Cheney defending America!
Ditto that. I wish he were still in office.
“The people involved deserve our gratitude,” Cheney said. “They do not deserve to be the targets of political investigations or prosecutions.”
+++++++++++++++
So much for zero ‘looking ahead’ like he promised. Liars. He needs to collar Holder. Liars.
How quickly Americans forget...
++++++++++++++++
The libtards. The rest of us who’ve been fighting the Iraq and Afghanistan war overseas (our brave heros), and the psy ops at home with libtards for 8 years, haven’t forgotten for one minute.
I don’t agree....I REALLY think it’s a good idea that George is not public at all. It completely neuters the libtards that so desperately want to blame him for everything. With him not out in public at all, the dems can’t feasibly point to someone as the enemy that isn’t even on the scene.
Amen MikeWUSAF. How quickly these weak sisters forget what happened that day. I hope VP Cheney comes out swinging.
I understand, but I have to believe that there are those that will tell this guy, if he goes to far, to sit down and shut up or he will be removed.
True, but Cheney is far more intelligent than the entire lot of Obamalamadingdong clowns combined. I am very grateful to Dick Cheney for standing up to the clowns and beating them about the head with their own nonsense. Consider for a moment if there were no Dick Cheney to battle these clowns. Now that would be a frightening proposition!
Well said VP Cheney. Keep talking, loud and proud.
Thanks, FK! There is lots of important info on those 2 threads I linked to.
It doesnt really raise new doubts. There was never much doubt Obama is a terrorist-sympathizing far-left radical.
+++++++++++++++
Maybe not for us it doesn’t. But it should raise new doubts for those Obama lied to and said we’d look to the future...all those indies that thought he’d govern from the middle. Yet another lie - new day, new lie(s).
May God bless Vice President Cheney.
Yep..I think the trauma of sending young men and women into battle was a shock to GW’s psyche.
Cheney had the responsibility of getting the info to stop another attack and he carried out his responsibilities with honor.
Consider for a moment if there were no Dick Cheney to battle these clowns. Now that would be a frightening proposition!

Is the RNC listening? Is the NRSC listening?
It's a head fake ... red meat for his moonbat America-hating supporters, who are really pissed that he hasn't Rahmed thru Deathcare.
The moonbats hate America more than they want Deathcare, so this move is to appease and distract them from his failure so far to foist Deathcare upon us, in spite of controlling the WH and both the House and Senate.
Bama is Holder's collar and he just unleashed him.
VERY, VERY WEAK character flaw and at some point, he must adopt a "take a gun to a gun fight" mentality. Otherwise, he simply fades into oblivion as another big spending, failed liberal president.
Grow some, Jorge...like you did when you attempted to push amnesty on America!
I disagree. W needs to stay silent, go fishing with Dad, cut some brush, eat ice cream with Laura...and let Boy Wonder keep throwing wiffle balls.
I happen to agree with the others, GWB should stay mostly silent on the matter, let Cheney be the iron fist. It works out much better that way overall, for various reasons.
If Dick Cheney gets arrested out of this distract-the-nation ruse, there should be an unprecedented demonstration of soldidarity for him. The man is a patriot.
[/sarcasm]
NEW DOUBTS? No, these are not doubts. I am quite sure Obama is a leftist ideologue who is trying his best to turn the US into a Socialist country.
The moonbats hate America more than they want Deathcare, so this move is to appease and distract them from his failure so far to foist Deathcare upon us, in spite of controlling the WH and both the House and Senate.

I think this makes sense.
Perhaps I've missed something, but I don't see either doing diddly squat. Micheal Steele was on F&F this morning with the same old tired lines the 'Pubbies have been using and losing with for years. Similarly, I see only token responses from Senate Minority Leader McConnell or House Minority Leader Boener. The Republican Party seems completely content to be in the minority. It is a sad and bewildering sight to behold.....
It is a sad and bewildering sight to behold.....

ARGH!! How can we stir them up? I think we need to run candidates against them in the primaries...and see a number of them win!
