Cheney: new doubts about Obama By: Mike Allen August 25, 2009 07:51 AM EST

Former Vice President Dick Cheney said in a statement Tuesday that the Obama administration's decision to name a prosecutor to look into Bush-era interrogations of suspected terrorists should foster "doubts about this administration’s ability to be responsible for our nation’s security.”

"The people involved deserve our gratitude," Cheney said. "They do not deserve to be the targets of political investigations or prosecutions."

Cheney maintains that records released this week show that waterboarding and other harsh interrogation techniques "provided the bulk of intelligence we gained about al Qaeda" after the Sept. 11 attacks.

Cheney said in the statement: “The documents released Monday clearly demonstrate that the individuals subjected to Enhanced Interrogation Techniques provided the bulk of intelligence we gained about al Qaeda. This intelligence saved lives and prevented terrorist attacks. These detainees also, according to the documents, played a role in nearly every capture of al Qaeda members and associates since 2002.

"Fraunces Tavern is a restaurant and museum in lower Manhattan, New York City. It was built on the site of a former building which played a significant role in pre-Revolutionary activities, and in which, on 4 December 1783, General George Washington bade farewell to his officers at the end of the Revolution, before returning to his home, Mount Vernon."

"During the 1970s and 1980s, FALN members set off at least 138 bombs in five major U.S. Cities. Six Americans were killed in those attacks. One of those bombings, in January 1975, was at the historic Fraunces Tavern in lower Manhattan while patrons were at lunch. The explosion killed four and injured more than 50."

"Between 1974 and 1985 the FALN (Puerto Rican Armed Forces of National Liberation) organized 120 terrorist bombings in the United States. Many Americans were killed in those bombings, and many more were crippled. In 1983, another Puerto Rican terrorist group known as the Macheteros, attacked and robbed a Wells Fargo armored car in Connecticut. The Macheteros intended to use the money to finance a terrorist campaign against the United States. Working under the cover of Puerto Rican nationalism and claiming to act on behalf of the 'oppressed people of Puerto Rico,' the FALN and the Macheteros are nothing but Communist revolutionaries. Both groups were organized by Fidel Castro's secret police. The ultimate goal of the FALN and the Macheteros is the creation of an independent Marxist-Leninist dictatorship on the island of Puerto Rico."

Last time Obama and the Dems tried to take on Cheney, they got their ass handed to them. Cheney won that argument big time. Now they’re doing it again (for reasons COMPLETELY unknown to me) and the stakes are higher. My money is on Dick Cheney and the brave men in the CIA.

I was thinking about this last night and I have come to the conclusion that Cheney, may have almost singlehandedly been responsible for the lack of successful attacks against the U.S after 9-11.
The sheer fact that the Zero Administrations and it’s minions are hellbent on destroying anyone that fought the attacks on us, makes it very clear as to WHAT side the Zero bunch are on. AND IT’S NOT THE SIDE OF THE UNITED STATES,

It doesn't raise new doubts among us ... but consider the folks who are reading these memos, and seeing the stories about Leon Panetta, and Obama's team starting their own interrogation unit....

That'll raise doubts among a whole new set of folks.

Cheney is the biggest distraction the Dims can come up with right now. Notice every time their plans seem to be on the rocks they trot this crap out, hoping to deflect attention from what is really happening? I don't think it's going to work because the average Joe doesn't harbor ill feelings towards the former Veep. Personally, he's in the top five on my list of folks I'd love to sit down and have a chat with....

I’ll bet you a donut that 9/11 is totally glossed over this year by this Administration. Oh, there might be some wreath-laying or something, but I’ll bet the underlying message will be, “Move on, Folks. Get over it. Just reach out! Muzzies are our friends!” *SPIT*

I don’t agree....I REALLY think it’s a good idea that George is not public at all. It completely neuters the libtards that so desperately want to blame him for everything. With him not out in public at all, the dems can’t feasibly point to someone as the enemy that isn’t even on the scene.

True, but Cheney is far more intelligent than the entire lot of Obamalamadingdong clowns combined. I am very grateful to Dick Cheney for standing up to the clowns and beating them about the head with their own nonsense. Consider for a moment if there were no Dick Cheney to battle these clowns. Now that would be a frightening proposition!

It's a head fake ... red meat for his moonbat America-hating supporters, who are really pissed that he hasn't Rahmed thru Deathcare.

The moonbats hate America more than they want Deathcare, so this move is to appease and distract them from his failure so far to foist Deathcare upon us, in spite of controlling the WH and both the House and Senate.

Well, Jorge continues his practice of not defending his policies.

VERY, VERY WEAK character flaw and at some point, he must adopt a "take a gun to a gun fight" mentality. Otherwise, he simply fades into oblivion as another big spending, failed liberal president.

Grow some, Jorge...like you did when you attempted to push amnesty on America!

I am concerned that innocent women and children may have been hurt or emotionally scarred when Joshua brought down the city walls of Jerico. I think that Obama should issue an official apology for this, and then put Dick Chaney and George Bush on trial for it as soon as possible.

Perhaps I've missed something, but I don't see either doing diddly squat. Micheal Steele was on F&F this morning with the same old tired lines the 'Pubbies have been using and losing with for years. Similarly, I see only token responses from Senate Minority Leader McConnell or House Minority Leader Boener. The Republican Party seems completely content to be in the minority.
