President Barack Obama said his administration remains focused on rebuilding New Orleans and the Gulf Coast, that anything less "would be a betrayal of who we are as a country, " and that he plans to visit New Orleans by the end of the year.

"Well, keep in mind I've been in New Orleans multiple times, and I intend to be back in New Orleans before the year is out because I want to see first-hand where progress is being made, and where it is not, " Obama said.

Obama should tell old feeble New Orleans to just take the pill.

No...I’d prefer that Obama become so enamoured with New Orleans that he undertakes to move the entirety of the Washington DC government establishment there. I would pay the taxes necessary for that to happen. Then, just sit back and wait.

Just send more money to New Orleans. The Politicians and their Special Interests just love to see that money sink into their private candy bags.

"Rebuilding New Orleans still a priority, Obama says - (More BILLIONS on the way??)"

Translation: Obamacare is in a shambles and not likely to pass so I now will focus America's attention to the fact that BUSHitler destroyed New Orleans and I 'The Chosen One" will rebuild it as my legacy.

Here's how that blather was enunciated:
"Well. KEEP in mind. I've been....in...New Orleans multiple. Times. And I...intend to. Be back in New...Orleans. Before the YEAR is out. Because. I want to SEE. First-hand. Where...progress is being. Made. AND where it is. Not."

anything less "would be a betrayal of who we are as a country, "

Like Obama has any clue about who we are as a country. Of all the things that Obama says or does that get me wee-weed off, the one I find most intolerable and offensive is his phony invocation of American values to justify their very opposite.

At what point is enough enough? $250K per resident and they still want more? Funny, I don’t hear the people in Mississippi whining—ditto the folks in Cedar Rapids from the floods last year, or the ones this year upriver, or the folks in California from all the wildfires, or...you get the idea.

This is not about money. It is about symbolism. There is so much symbolism to be milked out of the black community in NOLA, that they have barely tapped the keg.

Why do we need to spend billions and billions on a city foolishly built below sea level which will just get flooded again? According to Einstein, that’s insanity.

I came to post the same.

Don't hear much about Mississippi do we? Things have to be going well for the MSM and country by and large to ignore them.

I want to make a prediction that upon this visit to N.O., the BEPLN will announce a “Relocation” program to pay the expenses of moving BACK to N.O. in time for the 2010 election and especially the 2012 election, of the Katrina refuges, wherever they are now living. Need those votes in N.O. to keep reelecting DemoRats...

Houston will be more than happy to see them leave and “go home”

Because the Democrats successfully politicized Hurricane Katrina and the damage to New Orleans. Even though the mayor and governor of Louisiana were both good Democrats, the Republican president was blamed for everything.

New Orleans has become a symbol of Republican neglect. So now a good Democrat like Obama will make it a priority, or so he says.

And those low lying areas will be flooded again in the future. It’s just a matter of time. Remember that Katrina turned at the last minute and caused much more damage in Mississippi than New Orleans. As bad as New Orleans damage was, it was mainly from the flooding, not wind or rain or storm surges.

Get MS to loan Haley Barbour to NO for a few months. He knows how to get things done without Dem corruption, featherbedding, malfeasance and payback.

As little as possible, in typical New Orleans fashion.

People need to remember that the number of REGISTERED SEX OFFENDERS living in that place was 1 in 10 of the residents.

That is a very high percentage, seems to me.

Those jerks fled the flooding and the government doesn’t know yet where they all are.

The Feds asked the perps “to register again wherever they were”.

DUH!!!! Ya, Shure...

Poor New Orleans. What they need most of all is not more federal cash but zealous federal and state investigators and prosecutors and an aggressive reform program imposed by Baton Rouge and Washington. Since that seems unlikely, the systemic corruption and incompetence that brought the city low will persist and prevent its recovery.
