PEEVED OBAMA TRUMPS PATERSON'S RACE CARD
NY Post ^ | August 23, 2009 | FREDRIC U. DICKER and MAGGIE HABERMAN

Posted on 08/23/2009 3:50:49 AM PDT by Scanian

President Obama's aides were so furious that Gov. Paterson dragged him into a rant about racism that they sent a message sharply criticizing the governor's comments just hours after he made them, The Post has learned.

Aides to Obama were angered by Paterson's tirade on liberal talk-radio station WWRL on Friday, sources said.

Paterson blamed his political woes on racially slanted coverage and predicted the president would be the next "victim" of biased media.

Obama's team delivered a pointed message to Paterson within hours of the morning broadcast, multiple sources said.

It came in a call from White House political director Patrick Gaspard, who has deep ties to the New York political scene, to Larry Schwartz, the governor's first deputy secretary.

Gaspard wanted to know "why [Paterson] was dragging the president into" his troubles, said one source.

But although Obama's aides were unhappy, the sources said, the conversation was not hostile.

Obama, who still enjoys popularity in the polls despite taking some hits on the health-care issue, has rarely touched directly on issues of race. He won election by a wide margin with support across demographic lines and broad support among white voters.

"I'm not surprised" that his advisers were displeased, said one Democratic insider, adding that Gaspard is a fiercely loyal adviser who has been monitoring the situation in New York.

“Obama has rarely touched directly on issues of race.”

If I smoke some of that good stuff will I be able to pretend that Obama has rarely tried to destroy America with his policies?

Paterson is an idiot...plain and simple...race is not the issue...his politics stink....that’s why the people of NY don’t like him.

I don’t understand the need for the 0 admin to comment at all. 0 took all the worship to heart and any criticism seems to cut right through him. Patterson’s comments could have just been ignored.

the health-care debate was an example of how the nation is "not a postracial" society,

Read through this carefully. The 0bama Admins. are supposedly upset because he brought 0bama into this. Patterson wasn't supposed to mention 0bama in his rant, he was only supposed to take the policy debate into racial lines? He was/is being used by the Administration.

This was a planned and well orchestrated incident, meant to highlight 0bama as the 'post racial' president. We all know he is not and the more they pull and try to agitate with the race card the less effective it becomes.

Look how effective this article is at taking the debate off healthcare and putting back on Race. Folks stay on topic and don't let them pull you into the race-bait game.

Agreed, the comments should have simply been ignored, but that is not what the administration wants to have happen. 0bama is a community organizer and community agitator. His administration will use every opportunity to push the only thing 0bama understands...race based hate mongering.

How many times has he pulled the race card in the past year? None of the incidents, none of them were legitimate issues.

Patrick Gaspard

Until shortly before he joined Obama’s 2008 campaign as political director, Gaspard was a registered lobbyist for the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).

“There’s no debate here over policy,” Sharpton said. “There’s a debate over you said this about me, your guy said that about me. It sounds like a schoolyard fight rather than a presidential campaign.”

It is standard operating procedure for 0bama. The sooner we figure out he only has one tactic in his bag, the sooner we can defeat him.

Holy cow, check this out. Scroll down the page for...

Patrick Gaspard Joins Obama Team

Gaspard was the national field director for 'America Coming Together' [ACT] during the 2004 cycle. In October of 2004, St. Louis County Board of Election Commissioners trashed hundreds of faulty voter registrations, most of them collected by voter drive groups like ACT. Many voters registered twice by using variations of their names.

In 2004, the AP reported that ACT under Gaspard had paid convicted felons to canvass homes and solicit private information (including Social Security numbers) from voters as part of its "Get out the vote effort".

In 2007, ACT was fined $750,000 by the FEC for violating election finance rules.

One of the authors of this article is Fred Dicker, a Post reporter who has covered Albany since the Permian Age. Dicker is a good reporter and has broken countless political stories about lowlife Albany politicians. The problem with Dicker is that he’s been in Albany so long he no longer identifies with his readers as well as he does with the slugs he covers.
He’s a lot like the Washington reporters who instead of being the eyes and ears of the people feel their real job is to run cover for the administration and shield Obama.
We still have a free press in this country but we no longer have a fair and impartial press.
One of the great things about William F Buckley was his ability to out these prejudiced reporters by taking their stories apart sentence by sentence and exposing the innate hypocrisy of not only their views but their writing style.

Yeah, I bet Bozo was pi***ed./SAR

The lie about Bozo never using the race card is the biggest load of BS they have tried to shovel yet. Just off the top of my head I can think of several times: During the Campaign, "Because I don't look like the guys on the dollar bills!". Recently with Gates, exact quote escapes me but something like, "We still have a race problem here in the US".

Both of those times, and they are not the only examples, were blatant playings of the race card directly for Bozo.

All this crap is smoke and mirrors trying to fool the still stupid base into believing Bozo would never do something like play the race card.+
