CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) The wife of a former North Carolina senator and presidential candidate has opened a furniture store.
Multiple media outlets report that Elizabeth Edwards opened the store called Red Window in downtown Chapel Hill Saturday. Edwards says the store will have styles similar to The Red Door, a charity store her mother managed in Japan.
Edwards husband, former Sen. John Edwards, also attended the opening.
**SNIP**
Elizabeth Edwards says shes trying to ignore tabloid reports that her husband fathered Hunters child.
A federal grand jury is investigating whether the candidates campaign funds were illegally paid to Hunter to keep quiet about the affair.

“Nearly-new bed, used only once”?
If that barn of a house reflects her taste in architecture, I don’t think I could trust her taste in furnishings and decorations.
Not even mentioning her taste in husbands.
Go to www.wral.com and watch the video. I hope someone can capture the part where John was looking around the store. It’s priceless!
Grand Opening specials on baby cribs and high-chairs!
LOL
I watched the video. I could not get over the outfit Elizabeth Edwards was wearing. I guess she doesn’t care about how she looks for that jerk she is married to, knowing she won’t be around. I pity her, she got the shaft...
I don’t know why we judge people for making the decisions in their personal lives they do. There are thousands of things we don’t know that factored into this woman’s decision to stay in her marriage. We are such a busybody society. It makes me sick.
The reason we are interested in this is because Edward’s is such a scoundrel and was a Democratic “star”. This hardly qualifies as busybody. Get off your high horse.
Seems to me she should have opened a rug store so John could walk all over some more?
I got to hand it to her though. She is one tough woman and John is just a lucky bastard to have her, Still.
I kind of admire but wasn’t there some announcement regarding her cancer being terminal and expected during the campaign?
What will she do in her store when those scary Republicans walk in and ask to see a chair?
She was pretty freaked out to learn her neighbors (only a quarter mile away!) were Republicans, she said they were scary, some owned guns!
‘wasnt there some announcement regarding her cancer being terminal “
That may have been Trial Lawyer Edwards working the jury (there may have been large elements of untruth).
We don’t and probably won’t know her real health status. She looks OK, but cancer is insidious.
The press covered for him up until the picture of his love child appeared. If it hadn’t been for the National Enquirer - he might have been President...
Ah - keep your eye on the cup covering the ball as the cups are moved to and fro...
What you saw during the campaign was John Edwards and his wife walking out of a medical clinic complex to a position in front of some microphones, followed by two fellows in white medical lab coats. The two in white, presumably doctors, never spoke. Mr. Edwards spoke and made statements about the re-occurrence of cancer in his wife Elizabeth. Very dramatic stuff, but, like all medical information - protected by privacy laws that he as a lawyer is very familiar with. Thus, the only information the world was given about Mrs. Edwards status was delivered by Mr. Edwards or his campaign. For her sake, we’d like to think it was untrue, and that she genuinely continued to be in remission, and that the campaign sought to capitalize on the dramatic image by releasing false information. But the point is - you cannot know. Because of medical privacy laws - it’s the one area where fraudulent claims are essentially impossible to contradict. Given the extent of what John Edwards told us during and after the campaign which has proven to be untrue - a reasonable person might wonder if she ever had a re-occurrence of cancer.
Well, with Edwards involved she should have named it The Green Door.
I just saw Elizabeth on LKL tonight and Larry inquired about her health. She said she is feeling good, despite the fact that she's in Stage 4 breast cancer.
I will add that she looked good and seemed full of spunk.
I admire John Edwards, because he is so smart!
So smart, in fact, that he was able to skip kindergarten!
Most little boys learn in kindergarten, that you’ve got to keep your pee-pee in your pants!
Young John was so smart that must have skipped that homework assignment!
Taking pleasure in watching someone’s private life fall apart in public is disgusting. If that puts me on a high horse, so be it.
That is *the* first time I’ve ever seen John Edwards not whore himself to a news camera. He looks like Elizabeth has beaten the snot out of him!
She did look great. But, there was some imperative in there announcement, two years ago.
As I recall, from my many friends, John was “just” copying Hillary, in his proposals.
Whatever. We didn’t want it then and we don’t want it now.
In the video, it looked like she rolled her eyes when she saw him in the room...?
“.....a reasonable person might wonder if she ever had a re-occurrence of cancer.”
For Elizabeth Edwards, a public battle for her life

“Elizabeth’s oncologist, Lisa Carey, told reporters after the Edwardses spoke that Elizabeth has Stage IV metastatic breast cancer. That means the cancer has spread beyond her breast and lymph nodes. The doctor, medical director of the cancer center at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, said there may be other areas of cancer besides the spot on her rib, citing “small abnormalities” in the lung.
“Metastatic breast cancer is considered incurable, but it is also considered treatable and controllable,” Carey said. “We don’t know what’s going to happen with Mrs. Edwards, but we do know there are very effective therapies.”
For some patients, no treatment works, so they don’t live long, Carey said. “Unfortunately, we don’t know until we give therapy exactly how hers will go.”
Statistics from the American Cancer Society indicate that women initially diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer have a 1 in 4 chance of surviving after five years”

Don’t feel sorry for her, apparently she is the brains behind Obama care.
“I pity her,”
I pity that she’s got terminal cancer. My pity goes no further.
She was part and parcel of the enabling scam.
That is one weird commercial.
Well, I hadn’t seen that at the time. I still have tremendous distrust of information coming from John Edwards. He is slime.
Strange all around.
