Travel Icon Says He'll Avoid Arizona Because of Gun Laws

Travel icon Arthur Frommer says he won't be spending his tourism dollars at the Grand Canyon, or anywhere else in Arizona, because the state's laws allow people he described as "thugs" and "extremists" to openly carry firearms.
The author of budget-travel guides said on his blog Wednesday that he was "shocked beyond measure" by reports that protesters openly carried guns and rifles outside a Phoenix building where President Barack Obama spoke on Monday.
Frommer says he won't personally travel in a state where civilians carry loaded weapons as a means of political protest.

I consider this to be good publicity. It might scare away liberals and attract conservatives to the state.

It looks like someone knowledgeable has already updated Wikipedia:
He is also known to be quite a liberally slanted propogandist. His political viewpoints often overshadow his travel viewpoints; in his blog he stated that he will boycott Arizona because he was "shocked beyond measure" that Arizona citizens could openly carry firearms as a form of protest, conveniently ignoring the fact that at least 17 other states allow the same high level of freedom that Arizona does. However, research show that wherever law abiding citizens are allowed to carry arms, the violent crime rates are generally low.

Aside from local ordinances, there are no laws against carrying a firearm openly in any states, is there?

Is this guy dumb or something? Arizonans have ALWAYS been able to “openly carry guns.” What a moron. BTW Arty, Grand Canyon is still there and still looks the same as it did the last time you were there.
To: Jet Jaguar
the state's laws allow people he described as "thugs" and "extremists" to openly carry firearms. Not only that, they shoot every third "travel icon"...The second one just left.

How does he feel about states where citizens can carry handguns concealed for their protection? I’d guess he wouldn’t want to travel there either. So that leaves him, what 2 or 3 states where he can “spend his travel dollars?”
What a BEM!

Yes, how will Arizona ever survive? I’m sure the Grand Canyon, the Pertrified Forest, the Colorado River, the many ski resorts where you can actually ski, and the wonderful winter conditions will scarcely be able to overcome this idiot’s temper fit.
Some people have extraordinarily inflated opinions of themselves. I too have never heard of this either.

So let the old sissy boy fruitcake travel to places where citizens do not have guns,,,, only muggers do.
Haven’t seen any writing from him on how nice it is to travel to the South Bronx or Cabrini Green, however.

By the looks of this guy, it seems he'd be a ripe candidate for the Obama Death Panels. However, here in the United Pens of Animal Farm, Mr. Frommer will mysteriously be granted all the free healthcare he wants. Oh, and all his family, friends, and illegal aliens that work for him.
Imagine that.

I remember visiting Tombstone a few years ago. A number of the clerks in the stores carried revolvers on their hips. The wife and I were traveling with her sister and bro-in-law from England. I don’t know what they thought about it, but they didn’t say anything.

Every day is a total surprise to Herr Frommer. He's been to and through Virginia many times, and not once did he notice that we can walk around with firearms ~ WITHOUT PERMITS ~ wherever we wish.
Even Obama comes over here regularly, and buses in crowds from Maryland, for propaganda shows.
There's much less chance of getting shot down like a dog in Virginia than in Maryland where they have the sort of gun controls Herr Frommer would like to see imposed on law-abiding people.

An inordinate amount of the crime is commited by blacks, most of it against other blacks. But considering all crime versus the number of guns, a statistican would inform us that ‘’statistically’’ the amount of crime is zero. We’re a much more law-abiding people than the bueaucrats and commies will have us believe.
