WASHINGTON -- The CIA's internal investigator found that interrogators conducted mock executions of terror suspects and in one case threatened a detainee suspected in the USS Cole bombing with a gun and power drill, congressional officials said late Friday.
The disclosure is contained in a 2004 report by the CIA's inspector general, which has keep secret and is to be released next week, two officials told The Associated Press. They spoke on condition of anonymity because the report has not yet been cleared for release.
The report's findings were first reported by Newsweek on its Web site Friday night.
In one case, interrogators brought a gun and power drill into a session with suspected Cole bomber Abd al Rahim al-Nashiri, the report says. The homicide bombing of the warship USS Cole killed 17 U.S. sailors in Yemen in 2000.
In another episode, a gunshot was fired in a room next to a detainee to make the prisoner believe another suspect had been killed, according to the report, which a federal judge has ordered to be made public Monday in response to a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit filed by the American Civil Liberties Union.

My only question is, "Why not?" It appears that it was effective, with no physical harm coming to the detainees murdering Islamic psychopaths.

I don’t believe the “mock executions” were ever carried out to fool a prisoner into believing he was personally being put to death. This was making it look like other prisoners were being put to death.

I agree with the CIA approach, except for the “mock” part.

The torture laws, even the loosened up ones put forward during the Bush administration, specifically prohibit death threats and fake executions. I do not have a moral problem with this kind of conduct, but it is specifically against our laws. As long as we are a nation of laws, law breakers may have to face the possibility of prosecution under those laws.

Am I shocked? Am I outraged? You damn betcha! I’m outraged that we didn’t actually use those items (and more)on those rabid dogs posing as humans. When each of them shows up in Paradise I don’t want them to have eyes to see, hands to hold, nor pecker to screw any virgins still attached to their mangy carcasses.

Yeah, it was really hilarious went the locals though they might sneek up the hill and kill a few of us after they shut our water off. Turkish arty made a few live round practice shots and that was that - we had water again. The power of persuasion.
Things took a turn for the worse when the locals in Ankara decided to riot - Turk AF got lots of pratice on their straffing runs - polishing off whatever the naplam left...
