| KABUL Sen. John McCain called Tuesday for more American troops in Afghanistan, saying that doubling the number of Marines in one southern region could lead to "significantly more success." The group's two-day visit included meeting with Marines in southern Helmand province, where U.S. and Afghan forces are staging a major offensive aimed at clearing out Taliban militants ahead of Thursday's vote. |
“Our goals have to be clear to destroy al-Qaida and the terrorist network that will attack America if we let them escape.”
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
That is precisely the problem. the obamanation’s goal is not “our” goal which is to protect the United States. They are not “his” enemies. He is already attacking the United States from within.
DemocRATS are clueless when it comes to fighting wars. Those yellow stripes they all have only make matters worse.
Obama is also snatching defeat from the jaws of victory in Iraq too!
Pray For Our Troops! If Obama is going to refuse to allow them to fight to win in Afghanistan, we need to pull them out ASAP imho.
“Change we/you can believe in”
In March, The One had our Air Force begin dropping non-explosive concrete "bombs". Now, he's got them making noisy low passes instead of dropping anything. It's obvious that our klutz of a President knows nothing about winning wars. I feel sorry for any brave soldier who has to serve under Obama.
And Waxman is the worst. He reminds me of one of Hitlers henchmen. I will agree with supporting our troops no matter where they are. But...........we will accomplish nothing in Afghanistan. We will never change those people. They have lived that way for a 1000 years or more. We need to get our people out of there as fast as we can. They may be needed here.
He’s the globalist elite sock puppet, being told to do by his Rockefeller and CFR paymasters: Under the United States internally, while ‘preparing’ for another attack on the CONUS that would bring in martial law. Aiding and abetting the enemy = treason, which is a capital crime that warrants execution by hanging.
Would you want to hang the usurper?
I agree.
I am to emotionally involved in all of this stuff to be a credible person to venture a yes/no reply. Crimes against America, though are right up there at the top of the list of hanging offenses. In my view, he is trying to wipe out our Country as we have known it since 1776. A free Country.
the obamanation seems to have a special hatred for people he can’t control and play god over. America is one of those “people”. God Bless America!
Did you know Melanie Morgan is back with a talk radio program with John McCaslin of the Washington Times?
http://www.freedom570am.com/ 6 to 9 a.m. Eastern.
Sorry, but my policy will not please most people, no matter which side of this issue they are on.
I think the U.S. needs to redirect the most massive amounts of its military aid to building up, training and supplying a very large, internal Afghan military; as its number one priority, in time and money.
The Taliban attacks ARE going to continue, no matter what our policies and tactics are.
The sooner this becomes the Afghans own war, big time, the sooner millions of Afghan families are invested in winning it themselves, with us providing the means, then the sooner they will willingly supply the eye-for-an-eye brutality against the Taliban needed to defeat them - a necessary event but one our public and political class won’t support if we are the ones carrying it out and taking most the casualties;
because it is a needed brutality in a situation where the enemy IS living and hiding in the civilian population, making big civilian casualties a natural consequence of what it will take to defeat the Taliban.
Unless the Afghan’s have the stomach for achieving this victory themselves, it is already lost because no one can help them long enough to make that victory for them.
Barry wants the military tied up and destroyed.
That way he won’t have to worry about coup.
In fact, she promoted the Tea Party Express on her show this morning.
It's mentioned in this Post Here
I listened to a few of her first shows, but had a hard time finding it on the radio out here in her old stomping grounds.
We should put money into the building of roads and highways. That was the way that the Romans managed to hold their empire together.
Great!
“We should put money into the building of roads and highways. That was the way that the Romans managed to hold their empire together.”
No. They first built a military big enough to do the job, and then, as needed, built roads to take it where needed. Even without the roads, at this point, a bigger and better Afghan military could at least do a better job of defending the population in the areas where that military was present.
Until they build their own military and it and the population has the will to do what’s needed, the roads would just help the Taliban move around the country.
Ostammer is also screwing up all the successes in Iraq that we’ve made. He’s doing nothing to negotiate with the Iraqi government to re-assert control there as the Iraqis slowly lose their grip on the situation.
Ostammer’s ROE is getting our guys killed.
he never even talks about national secuirty. All he wants are reparations.
Obama has never managed anything in his life. So why would anyone expect him to be able to manage a war in Afghanistan?
I say pull out all the stops to win or bring our people home.
Road building is a singular art. The Afghans are not Romans, so they don’t know how to build roads. We do. Maybe I shouldn’t give the example of something that ended in disaster, but When Braddock was moving on Ft. Duquesne, he cut a road through the woods almost to the forks of the Ohio. It repeated what the English had to in putting down the rebellion in Scotland. We bound the Ohio Country with the East when we built the Cumberland Road. Transportation unites a country. In this case, it would give the Afghani forces tremendous mobility. It would also bring the mountainous areas in communion with the citiies and towns.
You got that right. he could not manage a McDonald’s restaurant. Of course, neither could I. That requires considerable management skills.
I always took roads for granted and never thought about it until now but that is an amazing point. Thats why I love this site.
A lot of us don't click on links if there isn't a little bit of a clue about what they are.
Thanks
There is no way with Obama as CIC that we can come out on top in any foreign war or skirmish.
Communtity organizers just aren't trained to obtain victories for the Untited States. Just ask Saul Alinsky, B. Hussein's daddy.
Isn't it "man-made disasters"?
Speaking of disasters....
“In this case, it would give the Afghani forces tremendous mobility.”
1st - They don’t yet have enough forces or enough quality in the forces they do have, to fight this war on their own now, no matter how many roads you built today.
2nd - The asymmetrical warfare of terrorism and counter-terrorism is not about moving forces around in large blocks at a time (that’s how the Russians lost and they built a ton of new roads).
The main focus of our time and investment must be getting the Afghan population invested in winning this war, themselves. Once they become invested, counter-terrorism can succeed because more and more civilians will rat them out.
How do you get them invested?
You get more of THEIR sons killed by the Taliban fighting for them.
How do you do that?
Build roads?
No. You draft as many Afghan men as you can and you train them well and equip them superbly and advise them with our experts. The more funerals that then are held for them the more the Taliban will begin to lose the war - the population will quit sitting in the middle and want revenge on the murderers of their sons.
Roads can also be used for commerce and to tie the nation to the Capital Remember the expression: all roads lead to Rome? IAC, you are talking about tactics. I am talking about politics.
“IAC, you are talking about tactics. I am talking about politics.”
No, you are talking about tactics - building roads to move masses of soldiers around the country.(like the loser Russians did)
I, not you, are talking about politics, particularly the domestic politics that wins all asymetrical insurgency/counter-insurgency campaigns - getting the population to fight and die for your side.
Until the Afghan army is massive enough, well trained enough and well supplied enough, their sons are not the majority of Afghan soldiers getting killed. There are more Afghan Taliban soldiers getting killed and their families out number the families of Afghan soldiers killed by them. Until those numbers are reversed, the Taliban have more of the population seeing them as the nationalists and the coalition forces simply as the foreigners.
The Afghan government does not need more roads. It needs more Afghan soldiers and more of them doing the fighting and dying. Then those soldiers families will provide the change in the population that will support defeat of the Taliban. Until then, the rest are mere tactics that in centuries of fighting have never won anything in Afghanistan.
Once the nation has much much greater security, the security that must precede good commerce, there will be plenty of time and resources to build lots of roads for commerce.
The “country “actually a bunch of places side by side. A system of roads would tie the pieces to gather and enable Kabul to extend its authority into the mountains and allow trade to move more smoothly from place to place. As for moving “masses” of troops, you don’t need to move more than a few battalions in order to bring enough force to bear. Roads would also allow police and other services to reach the people.
and terrorist attacks to...Thanks! It was on the tip of my tongue but teflon'd out of my brain...Isn't it "man-made disasters"?
