Election 2010: Florida Senate (Conservative Rubio beats Democrat Meek 43% to 30%)

Republican Governor Charlie Crist continues to maintain a sizable lead over his chief Democratic opponent, Rep. Kendrick Meek, in Florida’s 2010 race for the U.S. Senate.

A new Rasmussen Reports survey of Florida voters show Crist with a 19-point lead over Meek – 48% to 29%. Ten percent (10%) like some other candidate, and 13% are not sure.

These findings are little changed from June when Crist held a 50% to 29% lead over Meek.

But the African-American congressman from the North Miami area doesn’t fare much better when pitted against the other prominent Republican seeking his party’s Senate nomination, Marco Rubio. The former state House Speaker defeats Meek 43% to 30%, with eight percent (8%) opting for some other candidate and 19% undecided.

Now there is no excuse. It is clear that Rubio, a clear conservative, can win against the Democrat. Now the question is whether we are going to let this opportunity to elect a truly conservative Republican to the Senate or another Republican who is a mixed bag.

Here is your choice. A Real Conservative.

Nothing would be as good as for the dems to run a bunch of liberal pansy ass blacks or half blacks to remind voters of the disaster occupying the oval office right now.

Even better is if the GOP doesn’t run a bunch of limp wristed RINOs like Charlie Loafers.

It’s odd that Hispanics in FL don’t want Rubio — they are turning Democrat for Obama.

Problem is, he has to defeat Chuck Cristie first. He isn’t doing too well in that poll - although it is very early. I hope Rubio doesn’t get discouraged.

My worry is his fundraising. It has been atrocious.

Welcome. I hope Macro gets out there and just speaks to the heart of the founding of this country. That is what people want to hear and if he’d just get some more videos out there with him expressing founding principles he’d find his support growing by leaps and bounds.

Well this should give any Florida conservative who is worried that maybe they should go with a perceived sure thing (Crist) because Marco is a long shot. Marco is doing good at this point and the only mistake I see him making is not providing enough video of his speeches. He needs to feed his troops so they can pass on the word and earn more support. People are hungry and open to his kind of message more now than they have been since 1994. Also the high profile people who support Rubio need to start walking the walk and raise some cash for Rubio.

Well I don’t care who they run black or white. I just don’t want us to run someone who will vote incorrectly on issues like energy, on taxes, on health care, on education, on social issues. Crist’s major advantage is his blandness. My problem with him is he seems to be an unprincipled man. I want an everyman not someone who is everything to everyman.

“It is clear that Rubio, a clear conservative, can win against the Democrat.”

True. But Crist’s candidacy could be a blessing in disguise. He intimidated all strong Democrats out of running. So if Rubio defeats Crist in the primary, Rubio can defeat the second-tier candidate whom the Democrats nominate.

Yeah many complain but too many retreat into fear and indifference. It doesn’t take a fortune to make a difference.

I just gave another $50 but even those who only can give smaller amounts should not be deterred. There is strength in numbers.

From Marco Rubio's website..in his own words on the Issues:

IMMIGRATION: “Legal immigration has been a great source of strength and prosperity for America, but I believe illegal immigration threatens the foundation of this system. If I had been in the Senate at the time, I would have opposed the McCain-Kennedy bill. I believe we must fix our immigration system by first securing the border, fixing the visa and entry process and opposing amnesty in any reform.”

You may be right but here is the problem. Crist is sucking the air out of the room moneywise but I still think Rubio can win. The more people get to know him the more he rises.

Just because Marco Rubio and Mel Martinez are both Cuban-American doesn’t mean that they have the same views on immigration. Marco Rubio has conservative positions across the board, including on the issues of illegal immigration and amnesty, and has the public record to back up his conservative positions.

Martinez was a bit of an unknown quantity when President Bush sent him back to Florida to run for the Senate, but Rubio is the real deal.

Charlie is more liberal than a few of the Dems in the Senate. Democrats are content with letting Charlie win this thing. He would be like a Chafee, Snowe, Collins, ect.

Yup. Now that he installed his ex-Chief of Staff hack in the seat instead of someone qualified, we should double our efforts to remind FL Republicans that the Orange Menace does whats good for him and not what’s good for FL (or Conservatives).
