Comeback kids? Clintons surge in polls, Obama falls to new low
Fox News ^ | August 18, 2009 | Kimberly Schwandt

Posted on 08/19/2009 3:05:51 AM PDT by Zakeet

Today President Obama has separate meetings at the White House with his former rivals, Bill and Hillary Clinton; and while the topics of discussion may be about diplomacy, one issue not likely to come up is that recent polls show the Clintons are surging in job approval polls, and the president’s are hitting new lows.

The numbers represent a striking reversal of fortune for the Clintons, whose were supposed to have been eclipsed by Obama’s historic presidency. Instead, their stature has grown as Obama’s has shrunk

Just 53 percent of Americans approve of Obama’s job performance, compared with 66 percent who approve of Mrs. Clinton’s, according to a recent survey of registered voters by Fox News and Opinion Dynamics. That’s a new low and a 12-point drop for Obama from January and a 10-point jump for Mrs. Clinton since April. Mrs. Clinton has even seen movement in Republican approval, increasing 11 points to 39 percent.

Meanwhile, a Rasmussen poll shows former President Bill Clinton’s favorability increasing by 26 percent since he left office in 2001.

President Obama’s slide in the polls can be blamed in part on his increasingly unpopular health care reform plan.

By contrast, Mrs. Clinton has been helped by flying around the globe talking tough to North Korea and declaring “The United States is back!” And her husband’s reputation improved after he negotiated the release of two American journalists from North Korea.

The new numbers beg the question, could the Clintons could be having the best year ever? And an even bigger question, what would this mean for a potential 2012 Clinton/Obama rematch?

Separate meetings? Sounds like Hillary's still mad at Bill for that little trip to North Korea.

The Clintons are every bit as bad as Obama. Soros is betting on one or the other. Soros supports the party of stupid.

Wow! Wouldn't it be nice if the DEMs nominated Clinton to run in 2012. Then we could put up Jeb Bush, and the American people would win either way.

Billy bob will offer to save America and Obama from the evil right attackers because he still remembers waking Hillary up and saying “you will never believe what they are saying about me today” to Hillary (before the Monica story hit and the new definition of “is”). Billy will “Help” Obama out.......but Clinton never do anything with out a price

I think Bill got those women out because, well, they were cute little Asian chicks that had been in prison. . . . He was no doubt hoping they would be "grateful."

Obama pulled the black support base out from under the Clintons and they ain't gettin it back

Without it they have ZERO chance at anything

I couldn't vote for Jeb Bush. I just don't believe in American "royalty".Regardless, after the last part of GW's term, I wouldn't chance it.

Hillary has been relegated to the dust bin of history. Obamessiah has totally made her irrelevant and she has let him do this to her! She should have resigned when she saw the hand writing on the wall but she appears to love the power of position too much even though he has disgraced her.

Next week Obama will probably send her off to the Antarctic on a "fact finding mission" to gauge the pulse of the penguin population. Or maybe to Zambia to broker a "peace deal" over a game of dominos with the natives.

How far the so-called "mighty" have fallen.

Is she still looking for Dr. Livingstone or have they sent her on a snipe hunt somewhere else?
