White House Blames E-Mail Controversy on 'Sinister Conspiracy Theories' After confirming to FOX News over the weekend that third-party groups could be responsible for official White House e-mails that have been sent to people who never signed up for them, President Obama's new media director took to the official White House blog to "clear up" the confusion, and pointed the finger at "outside groups of all political stripes."

The White House is blaming the controversy over its Web site and mass e-mails on viral rumors, "fear-mongering" and "sinister conspiracy theories" even as it acknowledges problems with its online practices.

After confirming to FOX News over the weekend that third-party groups could be responsible for official White House e-mails that have been sent to people who never signed up for them, President Obama's new media director took to the official White House blog to "clear up" the confusion.

In a posting Monday night, Macon Phillips again pointed the finger at "outside groups of all political stripes" but downplayed the backlash over the unwanted e-mails.

"An ironic development is that the launch of an online program meant to provide facts about health insurance reform has itself become the target of fear-mongering and online rumors that are the tactics of choice for the defenders of the status quo," he wrote. "Despite reports by some bloggers and others in the media that have invoked a variety of sinister conspiracy theories, more people signed up for updates last week than during the entire month of July."

Hear me out on this one -

It very well COULD BE that they were only wanting to see what rumors and counter-arguments were out there so that they could develop their talking points (lies) to address the genuine concerns of the people.

They, however, have a tin ear when it comes to the state.

It has to do with their idea that when “their people” are in charge, gov’t can only be benevolent, and why doesn’t everyone else see it that way.

Leftists historically have this blindspot when it comes to their elites. It’s because they don’t believe in the doctrine of the innate depravity of the human condition.

Here are some REAL conspiracy theories:

Nationalized health care by stealth--i.e. Declare it dead and sneak it in incrementally in huge unread bills.

Gain control over all power (utilities, travel)by embracing nonexistent global warming.

Eschew "reparations" because "they do not go far enough"--instead, totally dismantle America as we know it and redistribute EVERYTHING.

Declare post racism and push every racial issue button available.

So let's FOIA the WHOLE thing, fishbait account and Axelrod's signup pages, and see who is telling the truth.

And isn't it incumbent upon the mailer to make sure the addressees want the information? Allowing a third party to submit names is pretty lame. Even if I authorize a third party to send in a petition message on my behalf, why would the White House assume I wanted to be on Axelrod's mailing list as a result. No, I DIDN'T CHECK THE BOX to say "I'd be interested in other exciting offers" - never do. Was such an option even offered?

It seems Macon “Big Mac” Phillips is blaming 3rd party political groups for the problem, as though the 3rd party groups managed to send out the Axelrod email from a WH email address. Is that what happened? In that case, the 3rd party political groups would be guilty of email spoofing, which is a crime, right?

Or, did the WH take the email addresses the 3rd party groups sent to them at some point in the past when they sent the WH faxes or emails either supporting or opposing an issue, and add those addresses to the list that got sent the Axelrod email?

Because they are also claiming they have NEVER merged email lists, the WH can not credibly have it both ways.

Can anyone here give me a clue about this, because IMO the WH explanation isn’t passing muster?

Um, just who is it that's peddling the conspiracy theory?

Macon Phillips again pointed the finger at "outside groups of *whooo* all *whooo* political stripes" ...despite reports by some bloggers and others in the media that have invoked a variety of sinister conspiracy theories.

So in essence, Macon Phillips is saying that the paranoid conspiracy-freak nutters who think this WH out to get them are out to get the the paranoid conspiracy-freak nutters like him working in this WH!

Oooooookay, Macon!

LOL!
