This is on top of the hundreds, maybe a thousand or more laid off by LM earlier this year.

Defense contractor RIF. Not surprising...liberals always weaken us and we usually have to fight a war because of it.

I worked for LM (Martin Merietta back then) in the Space Systems group in Denver (Waterton facility) back in the 80s. It was/is mandatory that one join the UAW to work there unless you are in management. It really pissed me off that I had to join, but there was no way out if you wanted a job. There are allot of high paying union jobs being lost in aerospace due to the gobernments lack of interest in advancing technology. The UAW is going to take another big hit in it's member numbers over this. Union support for obumber is just another example of how out of touch union leaders are with what is good for it's members

Gates, Gibbs, and Obama creating jobs. Yep, I can see it. Cancel the F-22 RAPTOR. Great plan! Put our young men back in the seat of a Sopwith Camel and tell us how you are for support of the troops. Show us by actions, not words.

These layoffs are mostly in satellites and missile defense — e.g., satellites that provide communications for our soldiers, and defense against rockets from rogue dictators. Remember when the Lord Soetoro promised to stop spending money on “unproven missile technologies”? You know, like the “unproven” interceptor that shot down that rogue satellite?
Shuttle layoffs are in a separate layoff. A different LM company makes F-22’s.
BTW, the Raptor wasn't killed, it was just scaled back by a third.
