I’m a little ashamed to admit it, but despite my constant mockery of everything Obama during the presidential campaign (what can I say, I’m a partisan hack), I now realize how much I actually bought into some of his absolutely empty hope and change rhetoric.
When Barack Obama said he was a post-racial candidate, I initially believed him. He seemed different from Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, who are incapable of seeing any issue as something other than a conflict between two races. I thought that while his election would be bad for a lot of issues I cared about, it might actually be worth losing on those issues just to move past silly race issues.
Yes, quite naive.
For me, the first indication that Obama was not at all post-racial was finding out what a racist loon his preacher for twenty years was. While I never actually thought Obama hated white people, it was disturbing how easily he tolerated that issue to gain street cred in Chicago. And what should have been obvious is that someone who is that cynical and opportunistic about race issues is going to be even more so when fighting for and wielding more power. Except now he has the entire national media with him....

This man attended a racist church for 20 years, referred to his Grandmother as a “typical white woman”, attacked a white cop without knowing the facts, endorses openly anti-Semitic persons and policies, and recently appointed a racist Latina to the Supreme Court.

I had no idea it would get this bad, this fast. I figured BO would have at least six months of being "The First Black President (ooooh! ahh!) To Do (whatever)"
Instead, we're about 6 months in, and we have the First Black President With Approval Ratings Lower Than Jimmy Carter.
Likely, a quickly neutered president and congress are about the best I could hope for out of the 2008 elections, as a Conservative.

Its really too bad that the first black man elected as POTUS was not a conservative who believed in the Constitution and the greatness of America. The left would be falling all over themselves trying to explain how a black man could garner so much support in white America. They just don’t understand it’s not about race but about policy.

The problem for them is that 79% of the American voters are sick of hearing it.
Since he and his ilk probably weren’t read the moral based fables as children, it’s no wonder they don’t know the story of “The boy who cried Wolf”.

If leftists couldn’t call their opponents “racists”, they would lose one of their major talking points. Then they would only have “Nazi, homophobe, anti-immigrant, sexist, bigot”, etc., etc. They can’t argue facts, so name-calling is their only “argument”.
