Foreign porn producers sue SKorean Internet users
Posted on - Thu Aug 13, 2009 2:35AM EDT
SEOUL (AFP) - Foreign pornography producers are suing South Korean Internet users for breach of copyright by uploading their content onto local websites, police said Thursday.
In an unusual case, a local law firm representing 50 US and Japanese porn producers has filed suit against about 10,000 heavy uploaders.
The lawsuit was filed simultaneously through 10 police stations in Seoul and the adjoining Gyeonggi province, a National Police Agency spokesman said, refusing to give details.
One officer at the agency said the foreign porn producers had asked for a police investigation into breach of copyright, which is punishable in South Korea by jail terms.

the lawsuit calls for swift legal action, saying the unlimited distribution of pornography is "very harmful to juveniles" This is like Wall St. claiming that they are looking out for investors. Anyway, this should be interesting.

Perhaps something can be worked out where South Korea makes available some of their succulent pornography, free, to the rest of the world?

"Some of the local Internet users allegedly earned up to 30 million won (24,170 dollars) a month from other users who clicked on the content."
Not too bad for a side job.

If they have loser pays in South Korea, does that mean every party involved in this case has to pay full court costs?

Don’t forget “Love Actually”.
Bill Nighy is one of my favorites.
He was great as the engineer in “Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”.
His stuttering made me think of Hugh Grant’s father.

Love Actually was a pretty good movie overall. New HHG was an OK movie but I love the old series more.
