The state run media has recently become obsessed with the so-called birther movement ('Birther' Coverage Hits Fever Pitch, Politico 8/10/09. In an effort to paint as kooks those who question Barack Obama's constitutional eligibility to be president or who just want Obama to be more forthcoming about his background, the media compares them to the 9/11 truthers.
This same media, (especially Politico and MSNBC) which puts pressure on Republican officials and conservative commenters to distance themselves from birthers, was silent when it came to the Democratic party and Barack Obama embracing a prominent 9/11 truther and Osama bin Laden sympathizer.
Jodie Evans, a co-founder of the anti-American pro-terrorist group Code Pink, was a bundler and top donor for Barack Obama's presidential campaign even though she was a signator to a statement accusing the U.S. government of having foreknowledge of the 9/11 terrorist attacks and allowing them to happen.
Evans was listed in the 28th position of endorsers in a press release issued October 26, 2004 by 911Truth.org.
The opening paragraphs of the release state:
An alliance of 100 prominent Americans and 40 family members of those killed on 9/11 today announced the release of the 911 Truth Statement, a call for immediate inquiry into evidence that suggests high-level government officials may have deliberately allowed the September 11th attacks to occur. The Statement supports an August 31st Zogby poll that found nearly 50% of New Yorkers believe the government had foreknowledge and "consciously failed to act," with 66% wanting a new 9/11 investigation.
Focusing on twelve questions, the Statement highlights areas of incriminating evidence that were either inadequately explored or ignored by the Kean Commission, ranging from insider trading and hijacker funding to foreign government forewarnings and inactive defenses around the Pentagon. The Statement asks for four actions: an immediate investigation by New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer, Congressional hearings, media analysis, and the formation of a truly independent citizens-based inquiry.
The Statement's list of signatories includes notables spanning the political spectrum, from Presidential candidates Ralph Nader, Michael Badnarik, and David Cobb to Catherine Austin Fitts, a member of the first Bush administration, as well as Washington veterans like Pentagon whistleblower Daniel Ellsberg and retired CIA analyst Ray McGovern. Other signers range from peace activists like Code Pink co-founder Jodie Evans and Global Exchange's Kevin Danaher to former US Ambassador and Chief of Mission to Iraq, Edward L. Peck; from environmentalists like Randy Hayes and John Robbins to business leaders such as Paul Hawken and Karl Schwarz, CEO of Patmos Nanotechnologies; from populist journalist Ronnie Dugger to renowned investigative reporter Kelly Patricia O'Meara.
The Statement also includes 43 noted authors, including New York Times #1 bestseller John Gray, as well as 18 eminent professors, historians, and theologians. Other notables include five-term Georgia Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney, singers Michelle Shocked and Michael Franti, and actors Ed Asner and Mimi Kennedy.
The Statement was facilitated by 911truth.org, a leading coalition. The organization has also announced a press conference outside of Eliot Spitzer's Manhattan office (corner of Cedar and Nassau) at 2:00PM on Thursday, Oct. 28th where 9/11 family members and victim group representatives will file a formal complaint demanding the first criminal investigation of 9/11 events by the New York Attorney General.
The media has attacked one of the birther attorneys, obscure Democrat Philip J. Berg, for being a 9/11 truther while ignoring Obama's alliance with the more prominent Evans. Berg is listed in the 8th position on the 911Truth.org statement.
Evans was a founding member of Obama's finance team, co-hosting his first major Hollywood fundraiser in February 2007 just weeks after Obama announced his candidacy. Evans was vetted by the Obama campaign to be a top fundraiser, being listed as a bundler on the campaign's website.
Evans attended several top dollar Obama fundraisers, contributing the maximum total $4600 for Obama's primary and general election funds as well as thousands of dollars to a joint Obama-DNC committee.
In June 2008, Evans voiced her sympathies for Osama bin Laden over his reasons for the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
The news media never asked Obama or his campaign about Evans being a 9/11 truther, her sympathies for bin Laden, nor her support for the terrorists in Iraq. In fact it was never an issue for the mainstream media at all.

When are we gonna stop whining about the MSM and do something about them?
had to move, really had to move,
That’s why if you please, I am on my bendin’ knees,
Birther don’t you come around here anymore.
Pointing out their flaws and hypocrisies, as this article does, is part of that effort.
This isn’t about birthers, it’s about the media and their failure to hold Obama accountable for his relationship with a 9/11 truther and terrorist supporter.
Good work FRiend.
Great report, kristinn, and your previous report indicates you have been researching this for awhile. Both are a sad commentary on the failure of many Americans to truly understand who B.O. is and what he stands for. America-haters who are not friends with B.O. are the exception.
“FREE THE LONG FORM!”
There has never been a peep out of Dems and media about the orchestrated disruption by Code Pink.
The double standards are staggering.
