Why Obama's Miscalculated Deceptions Will Backfire
Townhall.com ^ | 08.09.09 | Kevin McCullough

President Barack Obama, his staff and administration, are all in danger of making the worst political mistake of their lives. They seem unable or unwilling to recognize the damage it will cause. And this reality may be America's brightest reason for genuine hope and change.

Since the beginning of the August recess the actual "rulers" in this nation have been given their chance to speak. In high school gyms, in church basements, and in community college auditoriums the first real chance for accountability has been measured against the most tone-deaf administration of my lifetime. Retirees, stay-at-home moms, young professionals, and even a working bloke or two have shown up at the town-hall meetings to first hear from their representatives, and then to respond to the ideas put forth.

The report card for the administration in these town halls is reflecting the concurrent plummet in Barack Obama's approval rating on his signature issue--the universal federalized take-over of the health care given to patients in America. Now only 36% of Americans trust the President on the issue, 53% do not.

Every one on the President's team was taken by surprise at the response, primarily because of the biggest mistake an elected official can make. They believed their own press.

The Democrats have to do two things:

1)Ram healthcare reform through, and get everyone on the government teat. Once put in place, this cannot be dismantled.

2)Ram immigration reform through and get 15 million additional Democrat voters.

I don't see these tasks as difficult -- provided the Dems aren't worried about seeking re-election. And if they manage both of these tasks, they DON'T need to worry about re-election.

I think they are going all-in, and I don't think any of the standard political rules or calculations apply any more.

Clearly Obama over reached but do enough citizens realize this? ACORN is busy intimating opponent of Obama’s death care health plan.

This is the beginning of the end for Obama.

By Spring 2010 his approval rating will be about 35%.

If the USA turns into Zimbabwe, they don't care as long as they're in charge.

They are the poker table and have gone all-in but they are stealing the chips of everyone at the table to go "all-in." Now will the people that they are stealing the chips from beat the livin' crap out of them for stealing their chips? Or will those people that are being ripped off cower in the corner of the room and tell them to take their chips?

In the liberal polker game, clearly the people with more chips need to redistribute them to the people with less chips. Then everybody wins. If those with more chips do not want to redistribute them they are racist. If anyone has been at the game for too long and has too many chips they need to leave the chips behind and gracefully step aside and give the new players who just arrived illegally in the country a chance to play. The new players are good...the Americans are bad.

” primarily because of the biggest mistake an elected official can make. They believed their own press."

In their defense though, their own press is pretty much the only press available.

Don't believe that nonsense...

We the people can dismantle anything....including the United States. Maybe Lincoln didn't understand this, but our founders understood this intimately.

Oh, we'll have elections again. At least one more, in 2010. Further elections beyond that depend on the People defeating the forces of tyranny, corruption, and Marxism--i.e. the Democratic Party.

The 2010 Congressional elections are for all the marbles. The Republic will stand, or it will fall in November, 2010.

I trust the People. I fear the government.

This from the comments...had me ROFLOL!!!

From The Kommissar - I

The Kommissar advises: Reporting dissent is the highest form of patriotism! Is your neighbor suspiciously “well-dressed”? Is he mouthing off about cancer-survival rates under socialized-medical systems while wearing a cravat? Give us his name, and we’ll give you his spats!

Just go to flag@whitehouse.gov, not to be confused with flagging@whitehouse.gov, which is the e-mail address for reporting President Obama’s latest approval rating.

Go to flay@whitehouse.gov if you’d like Speaker Pelosi to walk across your back as a whip-wielding SS dominatrix barking “Vee haff vays of making you tokk less casually, dummkopf!”

Go to flange@whitehouse.gov if you need parts for your new government car, or your new government hip replacement.

Go to flaunt@whitehouse.gov if you’d like a special preview of President Obama’s latest bare-chested pictorial for Vanity Fair.

Go to flatulent@whitehouse.gov if you’d like to report your neighbor’s cow for excessive CO2 emissions.

Go to fclip@whitehouse.gov should you wish to get an extra-special Fed-clip to use with your medical marijuana.

Go to fruitty-tutu@whitehouse.gov and send Rahm Emmanuel a photograph of a f*cking (his favorite word) dead fish. Make sure you flip your computer screen the bird as you hit send. Rahm's wave, always, consist of only his middle finger.

Cutting and pasting a few of the wonderfully succinct comments here sums up, IMHO, the entire scenario:

”If the USA turns into Zimbabwe, they don't care as long as they're in charge.”

”I think they are going all-in, and I don't think any of the standard political rules or calculations apply any more.”

“I have believed from the start of this that we are in a post-political era. We’ll never have elections again.”

”We the people can dismantle anything.... including the United States. Maybe Lincoln didn't understand this, but our founders understood this intimately.”

”We have seen the beginning of a new and second civil war.”

Did I get that about right? My only point of clarification is that I think they DO care - very much - whether we turn into Zimbabwe, and that it is their clear intent to dismantle and ruin the United States, which they loath, and which has stood in their way for almost a century.

It would be real interesting for scientists to study the brains of the 36%.

I agree as well!! I don’t think that most Americans understand what has really happened and they certainly don’t see what’s coming at them. It is going to be ugly!!

IMHO, they knew exactly what to expect, because they saw the escalating reactions against all the earlier pork-barrel boondoogling bills they've pushed through. They simply don't care about you and me, or about anything we say, nor about anything anyone says for that matter. This so-called health care so-called reform will pass by a gnat's whisker, but it will pass. That will not be a good day for anyone.

Throwing in your crying towel at this point is ridiculous. First of all, the healthcare "reform" bill won't go into effect until 2013, so there is plenty of time to dismantle it and any other lame brain bills the dems pass that don't go into effect immediately with a newly elected conservative congess.

The electorate will go balistic on the dems if the try to ram through automatic citizenship immigration "reform" after this healthcare debacle. Their heads are already on the chopping block and know damned well it would be political suicide.

We have the dems running scared and we need to stay on the offensive and not concede defeat EVER!!!
