California lawmaker picking Rahmsian beef
Chicago Tribune ^ | 8-6-09 | John Kass

Darrell Issa, a Republican congressman from Southern California, has sent a stern letter to Rahm Emanuel, chief of staff of the Chicago Way White House.

Issa's letter asks Emanuel to stop using Chicago-style political rough stuff against Republican critics of President Barack Obama's gazillion-dollar economic stimulus program.

*snip*

"These tactics have been characterized as a 'fist to the nose' and a message to 'back off,' " wrote Issa to Emanuel. "While this type of scare tactic might work in Chicago, it will not work to intimidate me or other members of the United States Congress."

"Oh, really?

It's painfully clear that Republicans don't know much about the Chicago Way, where citizens, even Republicans, are expected to take what big government gives them. If the political boss suggests that you purchase some expensive wrought-iron fence to decorate your corporate headquarters, and the guy selling insurance to the wrought-iron boys is the boss' little brother, you write the check."

All that’s left is for Rahm to make the anti-Obamacare protesters an offer they can’t refuse. We are living in a country run by thugs and vulgarians.

When the horses a$$ in the white-house doesn't stop “punk” politics, he's going to be the one waking up with the horses head in the bed, not the other way around.

I applaud Congressman Issa.

Have you ever EVER heard of another instance is U.S. politics where such a letter was written or needed to be?

Thanks a pantload, Obama voters, this is the regime you ushered in.

Are you under the illusion that Northeastern liberals are going to awaken to the error of their liberalism and be transformed? ... Liberalism is a disease. Beantown is so diseased with liberalism, there is no leftist too disgusting for these people. They are the same folks who keep placing the feckless Kerry and the murderous Teddy in the Senate, and socialist like Markey and the sexual degenerate Frank in the House. And they’re proud of it!

People in the city don’t like the liberals at all and the people have tried to get rid of the politicians every election for years but for some odd reason they always win.I have many friends and business associates that despise the democrats agenda even the people in the suburbs hate their agenda.Everyone always says I can’t believe the idiots won again so what do you do?Personally,I think the elections are rigged.

~~~~~
Well, history seems to illustrate that there IS a ‘Chicago Way’
Everyone always says I can’t believe the idiots won again so what do you do?
~~~

Maybe and probably those to whom you speak are not ‘connected’ to the Machine and their network, nor do they have the inside knowledge of how the game is played.

Personally, I think the elections are rigged.

~~~~
LOL .. the understatement of the century .. seems the facts and the history of corrupt politicians in jail indicate that is highly likely.
The Machine appears to be terminally embedded in the culture there and apparently unstoppable, which IS what Kass knows and from which point of view he describes events and characters in his articles.
What do you see so funny about it?I don’t think it so funny when you have a hand full of people pulling the strings to people’s lives?It’s not funny in the least bit.
Politics has become so dirty that it’s time for some sort of change.
Some places it’s worse than others, but it’s everywhere.
Here in my teeny little county, the city manager or whatever the heck his stupid title is was fired. He just refused to leave his office. THere were all kinds of shouting matches. I don’t even know what the outcome was because they’re all idiots. Now a whole bunch of the thugs are being recalled.
Let’s just say things can always get worse.
I’m going to re-read the Gulag Archipelago.
I think it’s funny that STARWISE is writing like Star Traveler. Do ya suppose there is a ‘Star chart’ which can be accessed for posting at FR, first come first serve? Wonder how many ‘Star’ sign up names we have at FR? ... Can you tell us, Admin Mod?
