Artist Shepard Fairey, whose iconic HOPE campaign poster of Barack Obama was a global sensation, is back with a new image that both questions and deifies the President.
Appearing on the cover of the Aug. 20 Rolling Stone, the portrait depicts Obama with a brow knit in determination, surrounded by a halo of stars.
"Will he take bold action or compromise too easily?" asks a headline enshrining the President's head.
Fairey said it wasn't meant to be a halo. Rather, the picture he worked from showed Obama standing in front of the presidential seal, he said.
"It's one thing to be running for president and it's another to be President and I think this new illustration that I did hopefully captures the complexity and the weight of his new role," Fairey said.
"Not only will we see how he performs, but also whether we as Americans will now help him and continue to push for the changes we asked for."

Oh, barf.
I’m gonna buy a copy. Then I’m gonna pee on it.
Oh look, cover also got the name of 3 of his disciples
“Will he take bold action or compromise too easily?”

In other words...he’s asking the dear leader to ‘screw the American people’....and not listen to us.
Saint Barack of Alinsky, Patron of the Hopelessly Deluded. And lookie who’s writing about him.
The “question” frames his head like a nimbus.
That image is sooooooo exploitable. Just sayin’. ;-)
'Bama got a big ol' head. Mmm-hmm, sure does. Saw it rollin' down the highway on a flatbed in East St. Louis. Yep.
Since Fairey is a communist, it doesn’t take much imagination to guess what sort of “bold action” he has in mind.
I wanted to make an art piece of Barack Obama because I thought an iconic portrait of him could symbolize and amplify the importance of his mission. I believe Obama will guide this country to a future where everyone can thrive and I should support him vigorously for the sake of my two young daughters. I have made art opposing the Iraq war for several years, and making art of Obama, who opposed the war from the start, is like making art for peace. I know I have an audience of young art fans and Im delighted if I can encourage them to see the merits of Barack Obama.

See? It's all about "peace, love, togetherness" and "change".
Here are some of Fairey's other masterpieces. No joke. Most of his works are along these same lines (anti-American, pro-communist propaganda). Check the link.

Check it out! I got a thank you note from Barack Obama. If he is elected, maybe I have a get out of jail free card. All kidding aside, Im honored to be acknowledged by someone so important to the future of our country. Also, the Obama campaign asked me to do a poster illustration for sale on their site. It should be out next week on barackobama.com.-Shepard

Here is the 'thank you' letter Barack Obama sent to Shepard Fairey:
"Dear Shepard, I would like to thank you for using your talent in support of my campaign. The political messages involved in your work have encouraged Americans to believe they can help change the status quo. Your images have a profound effect on people, whether seen in a gallery or on a stop sign. I am privileged to be a part of your artwork and proud to have your support. I wish you continued success and creativity.
Sincerely, Barack Obama.'"

Make dozens of copies and use them for urinal targets.
Another one of those darn halo pieces. Good grief.

And here is Obama's letter of praise to someone he knows to be a propagandist and street vandal...

Shepard Fairey loves Big Brother.
Big Brother is pleased.
Oh, Phil, you’ve really outdone yourself this time!
Your best one yet!!
*shrug* It’s the genre he works in. I don’t see a lot of use being shocked or outraged by it. I’m not shocked when the sun rises in the morning. Work like this from Shepard is just as predictable as that.
“A Roundtable with David Gergen, Paul Krugman and Michael Moore”?????
Kind of like a panel discussion between Marx, Lenin and Stalin.
Brought to you by the folks who would like to reinstitute the fairness doctrine.
Suggest: Why so Stalinist?
Why Rolling Stone continues to push with the left wing politics day in and day out boggles the mind. If they stuck to music and movies their magazine might actually sell.
Otherwise it is utter shit in every sense of the word..and smell.
It is so inscribed.

Michael Moore (quote), from his website, April 14, 2004...

"The Iraqis who have risen up against the occupation are not 'insurgents' or 'terrorists' or 'The Enemy.' They are the REVOLUTION, the Minutemen, and their numbers will grow -- and they will win. Get it, Mr. Bush?"

The Communist Party USA (CPUSA):
"We are a party of unity in action. We are an integral part of every struggle and movement for change to eliminate poverty and joblessness, against racism and for full equality. We are participants, initiators and leaders of every movement to make life better now and much better in a socialist future." Yeah, so they supported an oppressive dictator, like the Repubs and Democrats haven't? The CP is still around, has apologized for that whole Stalin thing, and has a quickly growing youth section.

My Vote's for Obama (if I could vote) ...by Michael Moore
Friends,
I don't get to vote for President this primary season. I live in Michigan. The party leaders (both here and in D.C.) couldn't get their act together, and thus our votes will not be counted.
So, if you live in Pennsylvania, can you do me a favor? Will you please cast my vote -- and yours -- on Tuesday for Senator Barack Obama?
http://www.michaelmoore.com/words/message/index.php?messageDate=2008-04-21
I thought about shredding your post, then I read your profile. I'm glad to see you feel strongly in what ever way the wind blows......*shrug*. Your apathy is why you fail....grasshopper.
Re: Angela Davis. I remember when she tried to speak at U of Miami, and Alpha 66 (Cuban exiles) tried to blow her up. This was around the same time a bunch of Bay of Pigs veterans attacked a bunch of commies who were protesting in support of the Sandanistas in Bayfront Park. Those were the days...

“Not only will we see how he performs, but also whether we as Americans will now help him and continue to push for the changes we asked for.”
We’ll indeed see how he “performs”, but what we’ll actually see is how many Americans are actually paying attention to what’s left of the country circling the drain.

Don't give them the satisfaction of paying for it.
A roundtable with those three is more like a “circle of jerks.”
This is obscene.
It all looks like blotter art to me. (Blotter paper being one packaging method for LSD, frequently with artwork)

Just pee on it while it’s on the magazine rack. No sense in paying for it.
Well said, JJ
LOL!!
I bought some stuff at a Best Buy recently and they offered me a free subscription to any of about a dozen magazines, including the ones Wenner owns. I turned them down. I don't even want the junk clogging my mail box. Everything I can read in a magazine or a newspaper is a condensed version of what I found on the net a week or two ago.
On the true believers, the ones who think Zero is going to save their children, I've never figured out if they're just stupid or if they think they'll be part of the political elite that get the good stuff.
Communism (socialism, same thing) reminds me of the old thing Hugh Hefner used to do with the Playboy clubs. Because of problems with prostitution, it was against the rules for Bunnies to date members of the Playboy Club. However, Hefner didn't want his buddies to have to refrain from taking advantage of the girls. So, he created a #1 Club card, and Bunnies were allowed to date members of the #1 club. Same thing with socialism.
That looks like Fat Val Kilmer.
