Media Bias: Is it just us or is there something wrong with the White House dictating news coverage to advance the president's medical insurance agenda? We thought this sort of thing happened only in Venezuela.
For some, Emanuel didn't bother with mere newsmen. He went straight to the top, calling corporate owners such as Disney Chief Executive Bob Iger, whose company controls ABC, and General Electric CEO Jeffrey Immelt, NBC's boss.
"Whether this amounted to undue pressure or plain old Chicago arm-twisting, Emanuel got results: the fourth hour of lucrative network time for his boss in six months," wrote Howard Kurtz, who broke the story in Monday's Washington Post.
How's that again? Is this a free press in a democracy? Since when does prefabricated news from the presidential staff serve the interests of free citizens? The problems here are obvious — or should be.
First, heavy TV coverage gave an artificial boost to the White House's medical plan. It raised its profile higher than networks may have given on their own. In a world where there's no such thing as bad publicity, and where whoever spends the most cash wins the election, it doesn't take a genius to know that big, uncritical coverage of medical insurance equals outright support.

Rahm surely got the top White House job as Obama’s COS based on his Israeli training on how to organize a “Civilian Security Force.” Rahm has been trained to organize a civilian security force as a volunteer for “Sar’el”——the three-week Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) training program to train civilians. CIRCA 1991 Rahm volunteered for “Sar’el”——a three-week Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) training program (like US boot camp) where civilians are trained to assist the Israeli military. Civilians like Rahm lived on an IDF military base to get the proper training. s a civilian volunteer, Rahm assisted the IDF during the 1991 Gulf War, repairing truck brakes in one of Israel’s northern bases. Pres Obama campaigned on installing a “Civilian Security Force” on US soil. Looking at ACORN’s activities, and the BILLIONS Obama has given them, ACORN is primed for (and is already acting as) a “Civilian Security Force.”
WORKING THESIS Obama, Soros, and Rahm are seizing control of the US financial system for personal/political gain and to subsidize the takeover of the country via the "Civilian Security Force". (The money's there to make them as well-funded as the regular military).
Health care reform: another govt slush fund. Obama's obsessive reach for "reform" has America considering that there's plenty in it for Obama, Rahm, Soros.
WHAT HAPPENED TO THE STIMULUS TRILLIONS? Americans are awakening to the possibility that govt insiders are mishandling trillions in stimulus------that monies are being laundered in the states, and/or are being illegally directed to Democrat campaign coffers, or wire-transferred offshore into personal accounts.
Obama's vaunted "$787B stimulus package" is NOT working. Now his advisers are readying Plan B. Unfortunately, it's a repeat of Plan A.......this fits a definition of insanity: repeating behavior and expecting a different result. Much of the spending wouldn't take place for months, if not years.... it hasn't helped the economy, and has added hundreds of billions to the national debt.
Most of Obama's stimulus bucks are still in Washington, save for money used to bail out state and local gov'ts, that save public-sector jobs. Obama's pork-laden stimulus and other wasteful spending is poorly targeted and too slow out of the gate to do much good. US unemployment nears 10% -- a level not seen in decades w/ scant hope of a significant economic rebound. So now the Obamatons want a second stimulus package. They never learn.
We can safely conclude that creating jobs was apparently NOT the reason for Obama's trillion dollar stimulus. On June 9 Pres Obama called a press conference to announce, "Several financial institutions are set to pay back $68B to taxpayers."
While Mr. Obama's announcement was welcome news, it was assumed that any bank bailout money or profit givebacks would be returned to the govt's general funds--- from whence it had come--- in order to pay down the debt. The truth, however, is that the money returned by the banks is finding new life as part of what amounts to a Treasury Department-controlled slush fund.
Following reports that White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel has been orchestrating an effort to intimidate members of Congress and Governors who raise legitimate concerns regarding the effectiveness of the stimulus, House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Ranking Member Darrell Issa (R-CA) sent a letter to Emanuel saying:
“While this type of scare tactic may work In Chicago, it will not work to intimidate me or other Members of the United States Congress.” “I and others have dared to bring these facts to the attention of President Obama, the Congress and the American people,” Issa wrote. “You’ve unfortunately reacted by once again resorting to the playbook of the Chicago political machine.”
Last month, Politico reported that Emanuel had “launched a coordinated effort to jam” Senator Kyl and other Administration critics… “[A]fter seeing Kyl and House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) again paint the legislation as a failure on Sunday talk shows, White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel directed that the letters from the Cabinet secretaries be sent to [Governor] Brewer, according to two administration officials.”
Issa noted, “The fact that the letters were coordinated by you to maximize the level of intimidation is supported by the timing, structure, and content of each letter.
