We keep two different versions of our bug-out kits handy: one for late Fall, Winter, early Spring. The other for late Spring, Summer and early Fall. We adjust the clothing mix as needed. Weapons go in a locked hard case and the pack goes into a plastic tub with lid. Fits nicely in the back of an Avalanche.
When I get a chance, I’ll take some photos of an ‘exploded’ version of the pack and its load-out.

I’m poor, so I only have a SKS with some stripper clips and a .38 for the close’ns. And a .22 rifle for the wife ;).

Mine is similar—including lots of peanut butter and crackers. Also bottled water.
No no no! The pack WTIH all of the stuff that doesn’t go bang goes into a plastic tub. OTOH, some folks my just like hiking along holding a tub in front of them. That wouldn’t be me.
