Another liberal hippie unsuspectingly "touring the world" on the search of peace... sheesh. Who told them it's a good idea to hike around the Iraq-Iran border these days!?

"He's a very thoughtful, caring person, soft-spoken, smart, bright. Has lots of travel experience and is someone that I would expect to be an experienced camper," Tiffany said.

Oh yes! As we all can see!

So he went over there thinking that they would embrace him and treat him kindly because he was reporting their side of the story. Hey, I'm sorry for the mom, but the reporters that go there thinking they are for some reason immune get a rude awakening. As much as it has happened they continue to keep making the same mistake.

Well now these liberals are going to get a first-world education in “Peace and Conflict”. No longer will they be guided by liberal Berkley professors espousing hatred for war-mongerers Bush and Republicans, they will get a first-hand look at whether their liberal philosophy of “if-they-only-know-us-they-will-love-us” works.

It is hard to be sympathetic to these Al Franken Minnesota types who despised Bush and were certain he was wrong. These people really believed that going hiking in Iran was a risk that was overblown by some corporate type in the evil Bush CIA. And now thy will pay for that naivete

...graduated from the University of California-Berkeley with a degree in Peace and Conflict Studies...

Oh, brother. Well, it will give him an opportunity to see what happens when two sides with different narratives attempt to come together. His is "I'm on your side, I hate Bush too." Theirs is "So are you worth more to us as a hiker with a BS degree, a hostage, or a corpse?"

In this particular conflict of viewpoints it is important to deconstruct the two meta-narrative texts and reveal the underlying motivations, coming to the synthetic position that the fellers with the guns win. That'd be the way to bet, anyway.

How much of the school he attended gets State and Federal funding??? No student’s tuition pays the whole cost of going to school. There is always additional funding from other sources.

What kind of “education” and “degree in conflict resolution” gets you a job doing what??? Playground supervisor for 2-8 year olds???? Who sets the curiculum for that school??? Maybe this jerk could get a job in the near future telling us old folks why we have to die under Nobamacare...

Sure would be absolutely beyond tickled to have had a job applicant tell me that they had a degree in such a topic and that I should hire them.

I haven’t had to hire and fire since the mid-80’s, but I would still be laughing.

Folks, believe it or not there are still some normal people in Minnesota.

Please remember Jesse Ventura was a one term governor and Al Franken lost to Norm Coleman 3 times before the final fix was arranged.

(The problem is mostly with the Norwegians. The Germans and the Finns are fairly conservative... And, of course, there is that whole big ugly bunch in Minneapolis!)

This kid, through no fault of his own, has been fed a bunch of fantastic lies and horrible misconceptions concerning the hard, timeless realities of the human condition. His idiotic, jackoff, self-hating professors — not him — should be in his current predicament. If his blood is shed it will be due to the leftist scumbags who, for at least four years, poured their poison into his head. I hope to God he gets out alive, and undamaged.

I'll bet they decided to have a little adventure by pow-wowing with the Iranians, smoking a little crack.....oops........peace pipe and settling all middle eastern conflicts by the power of their personalities and Berkeley tutorials.

No doubt they carried letters of introduction from Gov. Jesse Ventura and Sen. Al Franken.

graduated from the University of California-Berkeley with a degree in Peace and Conflict Studies,

I'm terribly sorry this woman's son is missing, but damn! What was she thinking paying for a degree in that BS from Berkeley? Whatever happened to getting a degree in Civil engineering from Texas A&M followed by a stint in the Army? Or even a degree in International Relations from UConn followed by a tour as a Surface Warfare officer in the Navy?
