(AP) WASHINGTON - On a seven-nation tour of Africa this week, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton will pledge more U.S. assistance, including military aid, to Somalia's shaky government as it fights for survival against Islamist extremists.
U.S. officials say the Obama administration plans to go ahead with additional weapons supplies to double an initial provision of 40 tons of arms.
The U.S. also has begun a low-profile mission to help train Somali security forces in neighboring Djibouti, said the officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivities surrounding U.S. involvement in the program.

Hmmm I wonder if she’ll stop off in Kenya and make sure certain documents are all accounted for so they don’t see the light of day. I still think Hillary is being blackballed into carrying Obama’s water in exchange for a payoff of campaign debts.
Aid for what and for whom...to feed the grey and balck markets?
The defacto government in/of Somalia is not a functioning government capable of dispersing large amounts of aid.
Said aid will invariably be lost in rampant corruption prevalent in this defacto governmnet, as well as Somalia itself.
More weapons, violence and killing. I weep.
We should give them humanitarian aid instead, like more, faster fishing boats.
Just what the pirates in Somalia need — more money.
Could be; but she has the money to pay off campaign debts. It’s more like being convicted of campaign fraud that she’s afraid of. So far; she has been able to get the courts to go along with her.
Maybe when Klinton gets to Somalia he can review why he didn’t send more Troops in to help the Rangers in 93. Better yet maybe then can keep him.
As if we have unlimited money to pour down the sewer. Africa will not improve in a thousand years.
