About 100 Iranian activists and political moderates went on trial Saturday to face charges related to massive protests following the controversial presidential election.

The semi-official Fars news agency published images of defendants sitting in a packed Tehran courtroom, some handcuffed in pairs.

The IRNA news agency says the detainees are accused of conspiring against the ruling system, among other charges.

Reports say some leading political figures on trial have retracted their claims that the June vote was rigged - the main rallying point of opposition demonstrators.

Confession are of course extracted by torture and beatings.

Pray for the defendants in this Kangaroo Court.

Damn, how frightened and sad I am for these people

In any other time we would have a freedom loving POTUS who would speak out and condemn the mullet head for being the barbaric scum of the earth that they are.

What the hell is the matter with some people in this Country that they haven't yet realized the mistake that was made electing this enemy of the US?

I just don't get it sometimes, damn.

So.. if they're on trial then they haven't been tortured and killed?

They had to keep some around for the show so the world can see how kind a benevolent the mullahs really are.

What's most frightening is watching those who fall for it, then defend it.

They were obviously tortured and beaten, but the ones on trial who are well known were not killed.

Do you have something against Twitter or Iranians?

Just because they are on "trial" in Iran, doesn't mean that they weren't tortured.

It’s very simple. A certain percent of the people are black, so they will vote for a black candidate no matter what. The other minorities (Latino) will also vote for him, because they sympathize with the minority status thing. Then there are the poor and unemployed who will vote for anyone other than the sitting president/party. Finaly you have the liberal coalition - the tree huggers, the loonies, the gays, the nonalligned, etc. - they voted for him. Total it up, and they had enough votes to outvote the other side. The GOP had better ramp up the voter registration campaigns, or its over in 2010.

After the crazies I saw during the Bush/Gore Presidential campaign. I was hoping some of them would have been in jail even today. They were disgusting to even consider protesting Bush. These guys who are on trial in Iran should be put in jail for life too, but being that the protesters in America got away with it, I suppose it is only fair that these wacko Iranians get away with it too. Liberals will destroy the Earth.

For the skeptic here is a very good video by Congressman McCotter made on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives.

U.S. Congressman McCotter made a statement to that effect on the House floor this past week and it was a powerful statement. I totally agreed with him.

First Twitter is not a “site” but a message system.

And yes there are kiddies chatting on it. Yes there are youth in Iran risking their lives to send information out of a country that is total media blackout.

Until this event I would have had NO interest in Twitter at all.

I have made a number of “friends” over there and truly am concerned for their safety.

If that makes me a “fool” then so be it. And since I am approaching 62 I guess that would qualify me for being an “old fool”.

Wow, talk about a dose of reality.

I wonder if we've reached the point where the takers outnumber the givers yet?

Short of a total collapse, which in my opinion is right around the corner and is not going to be pretty, I don't see us taking this country back. From there we have lots of rebuilding and reclaiming to do to prevent this from happening again in the near future.

You find a moral equivalence to those who risk their lives for freedom in Iran and the liberal idiots that protested against Cheney and Bush

Should the Founding Father been thrown in jail for life too?

Are you out of your mind?

Of course they have.

The progression is:
1. Arrest
2. Rape and humiliate
3. Brutal physical violence to obtain false confessions
4. Death from abuse or signed confessions.
5. Dead often thrown into the desert or dumped at home doorstep.
6. Kangaroo clerical courts which trot out the confessions.
7. Lawyers usually banned from restricted trials or not permitted to present a defense.
8. Harsh sentences at best EXECUTION most likely.
9. Mass hangings.
10. Some returned to prisons to serve sentences and continue to be tortured. (In any event you do not want to be a female prisoner or a young male).
11. Selection of one or more of the prisoners to be infiltrated into the West, preferably to the USA.
12. Chosen person like Akbar Ganji, Amir Abbas Fakhravar, even sadly brain damaged in prison, Ahmad Batebi, a genuine opposition student in the past, appear to be abused in prison, receive health furloughs and are then “spirited” with the blind eye of help of the Mala regime, into the West and then become spies and agents.

Their families are held hostage inside Iran.

Each of the infiltrated people were prepared with an exact same formula.

A similar case was Mohammad Mohamadi, whose brother died under duress in Evin prison which made him a perfect infilration candidate without any need to prepare a hardship/torture background for him.

The post you referenced is obviously not serious and probably the bad guys making noise.

Early on I sent a prayer in Farsi over twitter and got a response from one of them telling me to “eat $hit”

Your reference is laughable.

There are credible sources there, and there are few other avenues to pursue for info there.

Dead-on my friend.

Our resolve will be tested soon.

When the unemployment reaches 20% and we are currently nearing 14% real unemployment by some reliable standards, and the benefits run out. What are the Dem’s, who have total control, going to do in the cities.

They are deliberately sowing the seeds of chaos to cause us to collapse.

They will have hands full in the cites and will not be able to worry about us backward dudes in fly-over country.

Advice for them, stay away from Texas. Subjection has been tried before and the results were not very pleasant.

My prayer is that the Administration’s credibility will so self destruct that it will not come to that. But the clock is ticking.

Oh I know the Government of Iran needs to go that's why I support the people over there fighting against it.

I also know that their choice to replace dinnerjacket wasn't the greatest but he did at least show some promise for them.

What really irritates me is that our current leadership wouldn't support those people but I suspect he actually admires the mullahs and if he thinks he can get away with it will try the same with us....to which I say bring it on.

Sad to say you have no clue as to who these protestors are. They are fighting for freedom from the BRUTAL oppression of the Islamic Mullah regime. How can you support the bloodthirsty Mullahs and not the downtrodden people? Or are you just following what Obama is doing as the example to follow?

Drop by http://antimullah.com and spend some time getting up to speed on the seven sections of this site on what is going on and then decide if your comment is valid or off base. Or even on the radar of reality.

Are you for real or hallucinating? Teh progression separates from those who die and are dumped and some survivors who then end up in “court”.

I’m trying to figure out whether you are a fervent Moslem who does not want to face reality that the Mullahs are no longer popular, or have a political legitimacy and are shedding blood (AntiMullah posted the names of 700 of the couple of thousand who were killed - not all were identifiable) or have an inability to be informed and follow logic. Your protests are off key.

Shirin Ebadi is a total Mullah shill and has been since they broke her legs early on after she won the Nobel prize. She was then allowed to be an activists in Women’s Rights matters only to provide a “visible freedoon protest” aspect for the West.

Last time she came to speak in Los Angeles, Iranian opposition to the clerical regime boycotted her speech. Security had to be expanded to protect her from bodily harm from outraged diaspora..

Careful whom you support without knowing their backgrounds.

However, it is possible, encouraged by the courage of the students, that she has done a 180 recently. Not a reliable person.

Against the Bush bashers yes. If you want to follow a valid comment with an off the wall sarcastinc one, you need to show the change of pace or else have the second part of the Iranian demonstrators deserving taken in the same vein as the opening one.

A new sentence would help and maybe a “/sarc” added.

You cannot expect everyone to follow the twist and turn of your mind automatically when we are not inside your head and cannot hear your tone change.

That’s exactly how you come across, so don’t be astonished.

Probably how I would sound if I tried to expound on naval armament from hearing rumours or being misinformed by someone who has an axe to grind in misleading me.

Opinion normally has some rational, if not expert, basis not the kind of thing you have been propounding.

This level of naivete is what brought the Obama curse on us with voters not having a clue what they were bringing down on all our heads.

AntiMullah posted the official ID cards of Neda’s murderer that was taken off him by the crowd, which captured him on site right after it happened..

He has since been killed by the Mullahs to try to silence the matter.

Seriously, visit http://antimullah.com and get better informed about Iran. Read details on Neda. The site is in English in eight sections with only one in Farsi (Persian).

And is operated by an SME (subect matter expert)
