She’s totally right, incidentally: It’s certainly possible that we halfwit proles with private insurance might have misjudged where our true self-interest lies. But the same could be said of virtually any group involved in any issue — e.g., anti-war types “may not know what’s good for them” in opposing the effort to counter jihadism with democracy — and yet, curiously, it isn’t. To think, Megan McArdle was worried about elitist liberals using health care to dictate to the masses what’s in their best interest.
As for the current state of the House bill, it’s almost impossible to keep up. Last night liberal Democrats were warning the Blue Dogs they’re prepared to join the GOP in torpedoing a center-left compromise. Then, a few hours ago, Waxman announced a compromise on the Energy and Commerce Committee by which Blue Dogs would get to keep subsidies for middle-class families to buy their own insurance in return for liberal Dems getting lower premiums for the uninsured and a floor vote on a single-payer government takeover (which won’t pass). Meanwhile, in the Senate, Reid and company are preparing for “plan B,” i.e. abandoning the GOP entirely and ramming the bill home on a strict party-line vote, which is fine by me. Will Snowe, Grassley, etc., blink anyway? The only thing that’s certain at this point: If, as Krauthammer said, you’re young and healthy and not interested in paying for insurance right now, you’re about to get soaked. But that’s what you get for not knowing what’s good for you.

Last year I had a six-digit medical bill. Ten days flat from diagnosis to recovery room via two surgeries. Medical insurer covered everything with no hassle, no complexity, no bureaucracy, no waste. Mere months later I felt _great_ - thanks in big part to an insurance company that knew what was good for me.

I am about a third of the way through “Rules for Radicals”, and I can assure you, reading it tells volumes about the people who profess to following it as a bible, especially the ones pushing this health care bill.
It explains a lot. And none of it is good.
I was going to dictate the entire thing and make an audiobook out of it to give to people such as myself who don’t want a single red cent to go to anyone associated with writing, printing or distributing that hideous work, but I couldn’t stomach hearing myself read it in a way that would make it easier on the ears to listen to (To put the inflection in the right places means you have to read it as if you believe it, and I gave up after one chapter.)
It is probably one of the most amoral, twisted works I have ever read. Given that Alinsky wrote a dedication to Lucifer, I shouldn’t be surprised. The dedication was taken out of later editions so as not to offend the clergy he was attempting to recruit, but the version I have still carries it.

Sure it got out Waxman’s committee but read DU they are furious and are working from the other end to defeat any compromise. This is still going to wind up like Krauthammer said, dragged out, beaten up and watered down and Obama signing it.
You can always tell a lib in that they think people aren’t very bright or capable. And have to be told what we need or want.
I just had some troubling symptoms that sent me flying to my Family Physician.
I called at 9:30 am and was in his office 30 minutes later. I had a checkup and told to get an ultrasound which was done the next morning at 8 am. ...results by the end of the day. I then needed a biopsy which I had in 5 days and a result in 2. All is well but there’s no way this will be standard care under Obamahellcare.
By the way, I’m 63 so I would have been told to go home and take a pill. Actually, I would have never gotten to see my my Dr. at all.
Under Obamacare will Andrea get treatment for craterface?

I've always been amazed that this simple concept of individual freedom to choose and to produce according to an individual's own efforts has been so poorly articulated, and worse, so poorly promoted - and that's the key...promotion!

I think it may be too late. There is only one way left, because let’s not kid ourselves, it’s not just the Democrats. Granted they are worse, but the Republicans are spineless and can’t fight them. Maybe they are afraid. If not, then they are in on it. I am beginning to feel detached and fearful in my country and each month that passes, more and more, I just want to get out. If people are going to willingly accept this because they are afraid and have no courage, then I don’t want to live here anymore.
