Academics and students exhibit a pervasive amnesia toward the pro-Stalin actions of the Abraham Lincoln Brigade (ALB), a group of American volunteers who fought against General Francisco Franco and his Nationalists during Spain's civil war. Recent Boston University graduate-turned Associated Press reporter Kelsey Abbruzzese did little better than her college peers this July, publishing a story that lauded ALB veteran John Hovan's career.
"In 1937, John Hovan volunteered to travel to Spain and fight on the side of democracy against Gen. Francisco Franco's fascist forces in the Spanish Civil War," wrote Abbruzzese on July 9. "Now, at age 93, he has been honored with Spanish citizenship for his service as a transport driver...His Spanish passport should arrive in a few weeks."

The Lincoln Brigade was a collection of “useful idiots.” Spain was merely a proxy war between Hitler and Stalin. Most of the officers Stalin sent to Spain, who gained valuable experience in fighting the Germans, were “purged.” Oh well...
Does anyone know if the Lincoln Brigade was ever accused of war crimes?
It's likely that the internationals did more damage to themselves, and were more damaged by the communists, than to or by their enemies.

I find the communist Lincoln Brigade fascinating as a history lesson.

We have this racist ghetto thug in the Whitehouse and his loud-mouth supporters holding up a crumbling edifice. The ghetto thug has insulted the military, veterans, police, every citizen in rural America, the Christian church and even the Secret Service.

Case in point: Recall back in early spring when obuma called for his supporters to knock on doors and demand that citizens sign a pledge to obuma. It was all over the media and FR. Well, nobody showed up, proving that obuma supporters are lazy and cowards. No “Lincoln” brigade exists any longer amongst leftists.
About all that’s keeping the Chicago thug in office is the ordinary American’s respect for law and the office of the president, and obuma is quickly using up that respect. I’m encouraged by that respect for law and liberty.
Watch for a “Guatemala” solution.
