You can fool some of the people all the time according to Lincoln. I'll be generous and say it's possible to fool some of the people some of the time.

Are the birthers really saying that in 1961, the state of Hawaii knew that a small child born in Kenya or somewhere outside of the USA was going to become President 45+ years later so they better run a false birthing notice in the paper?

I don't think anybody was looking into the future. It was just a serendipitous concidence that he became president years after the birth announcements were published. Since there were at least 4-5 ways to register a birth in those days -- and the child didn't have to be born in Hawaii -- those announcements don't prove anything.

This is pure speculation but offers a scenario that, to the best of my knowledge, is possible...

1. Obama was born "somewhere" on July 4, 1961 (or any other date, for that matter)

2. A parent or grandparent (even) requested a CnOLB from the state on August 5, 1961

3. They state his birth was unattended and occurred "yesterday"

4. The state issues the CnOLB and sends the announcement data to the newspapers

This is based on what I've read, I don't claim it to be a carved-in-stone fact.

Don’t bother explaining it to that poster. He’s had it explained to him several times. He either has severe brain damage or is only interested in spreading his anti-American propaganda. Eventually he’ll just start lying about you.

Actually, I used to think along those lines....

But when Obama cannot produce a cheap copy of his Birth Certificate....to dispel the whole birther debate....it does demonstrate the birthers are, more likely than not, correct that Obama is not US born

When you think about it....your scenario posted is about as believable as a man from Kenya somehow making it to Hawaii in the early 60’s....and hook up with a white gal...getting her pregnant....you think the early 60’s (even in Hawaii) was so enlightened where it was OK for a young white woman to be pregnant out of wedlock with a black man’s baby?

Get thee to Kenya....

Have you expanded on this “verification letter” scenario anywhere?

Not sure what you mean. It is in the statute. She can’t get the birth certificate but she can ask for a verification letter. She needs to read the statute.

I think it costs 5.00

Someone needs to tell Cook about it and have him ask her why she hasn’t done it.

But the birth announcements were produced in two Hawaiian papers not years after but actually a week after he was born. That’s why all this stuff drives me nuts.

At any rate, Hot Air Pundit came out with another posting today, again saying that 95% of us get it...he was born in Hawaii but there’s always the 5%. Unfortunately the 5% are making conservatives look silly.

Interesting theory but I don’t think that is the problem. Blacks already know his supposed dad was from Kenya and his Mom was white so I don’t think a caucasian listing would matter.

Your post has some good information about dates being wrong and the location.

Since you have connections and you know how the Islands work let me ask you this question:

What do you think happened with their marriage. Was their really a marriage? No marriage license has shown up.

They couldn’t have legally been married because SR was already married so he would have had to lie on his application - which could have caused him to go to jail if found out.

They would have to go to Kenya to have a legal marriage.

One poster has an interesting theory that there never was a marriage in Hawaii and this was all concocted by Grandma Whitey. The divorce claims there was a marriage in Maui -which would have been illegal.

I theorize that maybe the divorce was really for a Kenyan marriage. If it was for a Hawaiian marriage then his father..and maybe his mother...broke the law.

If he was born in Kenya (it is possible and there is a very plausible reason for Ann to have gone there) they would want to make sure he was a US citizen.

Also, as other posters have pointed out...they might want to shore up information to keep the Black Daddy from taking away the child later. Although, if they were actually married (illegally) then Grandma Whitey already had the goods on Daddy Sr for breaking the law - except he might have dragged Ann down with him.

What drives me nuts is people who say something happened a week after Obama was born. Nobody knows -- for sure -- when he was born. He could have been six months old when that CnOLB was obtained and ten days older than that when the announcements were published in the newspapers.

(At least that's my understanding -- if my information is wrong, I'll retract what I've said.)

Not following. Why would a marriage in Maui have been illegal?

“It’s virtually certain that the birth announcements were called into the newspapers, by Obama’s American grandparents, who lived in Hawaii.”

*******************

The “announcements” aren’t paid vanity announcements. They are in the birth listings from the Hawaii Dept. of Health Statistics.

“Hawaii’s vital records office is alleged to have issued birth records at the request of American parents whose children were born while outside of the country. I’ve never seen that allegation debunked, and until it is I consider the possibility that Obama has a “problematic” birth record to be quite strong.”

***************

Do these-foreign born persons have COLB’s that declare their place of birth to be Hawaii? Doesn’t pass the sniff test. I keep reading this allegation but such persons are never brought forward. If you could, it would really impeach Obama’s COLB (and every other Hawaiian COLB). Still waiting......

Back in November '08, I copied this from the Hawaii Vital Records website. I'll have to go see if it's still there:

"Amended certificates of birth may be prepared and filed with the Department of Health, as provided by law, for 1) a person born in Hawaii who already has a birth certificate filed with the Department of Health or 2) a person born in a foreign country."

That still doesn’t answer the question: Do foreign-born persons get Hawaii COLB’s that declare them to be born in Hawaii? If not, the argument over foreign-born COLB’s is irrelevant. If you believe it to be true, bring forward such people and you have powerful evidence. Without such people, you have an unsubstantiated allegation. Still waiting.....
