good for her! adoption is just a wonderful experience, it can be challenging, frustrating, and tiring, but it is worth every bit of that.

No, Laura is not married. She was engaged to be married when she found out she had breast cancer. I think I remember the guy broke off the engagement after that but I’m not for sure.

It's too bad that people have to go to other countries to adopt children when we have so many here. But, I understand. Our country gives far too many rights to the birth parents to change their minds.
Good for her, though.

You’re right. She was engaged to someone named “Jimmy” (I think that’s his name). Poor fragile flower Jimmy couldn’t handle her being ill so dumped her a$$. Jerk. So she had to deal with a broken engagement along with cancer.
To: BigEdLB
Laura lived in Russia for four years she said.
She started the adoption process a long time ago.
No, as someone stated above, we didn’t run out of children here to adopt. BUT, as usual, it’s harder to adopt a child here. People need connections like Rosie O’Donnell. In other words, the adoption process here is like everything else, POLITICIZED!
If you are connected (with money) you will have no problem adopting here.

Well, I guess being raised by the nanny is better than still being an orphan in Russia.
But I’m not surprised that Laura managed to make her show all about herself again. Last time I listened to her show it was all about her insufferable pooch. I guess she has that in common with Savage.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
There is a severe shortage of children to adopt in the USA (thanks to abortion on demand.) The bottom line is there simply just aren’t that many unwanted, needy children in the USA.
That’s why you see so many foriegn adoptions. People that want to adopt simply don’t have the option of adopting a “needy” child.

I'm not for it, either, but neither of these children is an infant. Also, once a child is older it becomes much more difficult to place them in a two parent family.

So very true. And single parent adoption within the US for a baby is next to impossible. many agencies ask singles to adopt older children. My home study agency (a Catholic one) actually tells singles to think twice about that because most of the older children up for adoption have emotional / psychological issues that are best suited for two parent homes.

I wholeheartedly agree, but when it comes to children living in orphanages with no parents, I think single women who want to help should be lauded.

Get over yourself.
Laura’s shows have more substance than most. Yes, she likes to have fun unlike so many complaining about her.
People were asking where Laura went on vacation. That’s why she was talking about it. Besides, it is big news to adopt a child.
Another reason she was talking about it is the MEDIA/left wing kooks said she had a face lift, breast implants, etc. because she wouldn’t say where she was ‘on assignment’.

Agree, but it's a tough call. What life would these children have otherwise? Laura is wealthy and can introduce male role models to them -- though not as good as a father in the home.
Laura was engaged to a notorious Lothario who took advantage of her breast cancer to dump her. I feel for Laura, but she has a horrible temper & is her own worst enemy. No real man is going to put up with her wearing the pants & ordering him around. Sorry, it's true.

Most foreign adoptions of babies is between the ages of 6mos to 18mos. I don't know of a single country that has newborn adoption. Her son looks to be 12-18mos. old.
My daughter from China will be between 8-12mos. old when I receive my referral.

Laura’s show would put my coworker and I who carpool to sleep. And if “having fun” is having a segment on her dog for an hour a week, then label me a bore.
To be fair, we haven’t listened to her in over 2 years. So maybe she’s moved on past the antics of her Golden Retriever(?).

I know! I've been waiting 2 years now because China has become so slow in their process. When I started in late 2006, the wait time was 24mos. I should have had her by now. But, good things come to those who wait!
Can wait to raise a strong conservative voice!

Is it better for this child to be in a single parent home with a mother who loves and cares for him OR
For this child to remain in a Russian orphanage with no father, no mother, no extended family, and no future?
It would be nice if the whole world was perfect but it’s not.
If Laura has love to give she should (and is). She is giving a child with no future a future.

Laura has had a tough life. She was engaged to be married when she got cancer. Her fiance then canceled the engagement (nice guy, eh?) and she lost her ability to have children from the cancer treatment. But she has the love of a mother and will teach her belief in Christ to two beautiful children from opposite parts of the world. Bless you, Laura!
