Palin Formally Steps Down
AP via Breitbart ^ | 7/26/2009

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) - Sarah Palin stepped down Sunday as Alaska governor to write a book and build a right-of-center coalition, but she left her long-term political plans unclear and refused to address speculation she would seek a 2012 presidential bid.

In a fiery campaign-style speech, Palin said she was stepping down to take her political battles to a larger if unspecified stage and avoid an unproductive, lame duck status.

"With this decision, now, I will be able to fight even harder for you, for what is right, and for truth. And I have never felt that you need a title to do that," Palin said to raucous applause from about 5,000 people gathered at Pioneer Park in downtown Fairbanks.

Her first order of business as a private citizen is to speak Aug. 8 at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in California. She also wants to campaign for political candidates from coast to coast, and continue to speak her mind on the social networking site Twitter, one of her favorite venues to reach out to supporters.

Palin will attend one more picnic in Fairbanks on Sunday where she will resign as Alaska's governor. AP Photo/Al Grillo

This is a sad day for America and Alaska. The ObamaComs and their eunuchs in the MSM drove a decent person from American politics. It’s what Communists do. All Americans should be ashamed.

I don’t know what’s wrong with me but I still love this lady...someone please explain to me what’s my condition. Is it a bad case of DeRepublicanitis (loss of true Republicanism, hence this condition as a result of her leaving politics for the time being?) Is there a cure? Any MD’s out there with advice? Please provide.

LOL, what pathetic rot. Of course, we can't take Palin's own exuberance over her intentions to actually increase her political power, now can we?

She's brilliant!

After McCain lost the election, the democrat lawyers headed right to Alaska. Their goal was to create "imagined" scandal after scandal, and a huge legal fee for Alaska, in order to defeat her in 2010. They thought if they could spend millions to destroy her, the democrat opponent would be a shoe in.

She resigned and stole their fire. Now, Alaska has another scandal free candidate - an incumbent on the Republican side. After millions spent, the democrat trial lawyers have to start all over. This time, people in Alaska are going to want the democrats to get the heck out of the state and leave them alone.

In the mean time, Sara doesn't have to worry about anything she says. She can open up, and the nation, which has proven itself to be conservative leaning, will eat it up. She can start campaigning for 2012 right now if she wants to. They can't stop her. They can't even force her to obey campaign laws, because technically she's not "on the campaign trail."

What is sad about it? Sarah Palin is in much better position to do work on a national level without her hands being tied. This is a joyous occasion.

Let not your heart be troubled. They didn’t drive her out. Instead, they just elevated her to heights before hand unforseen.

I’m a roller coaster freak and a sports car racer. I have never looked so forward to the ride coming up that Sarah will take us on into the future.

Just heard this at the bottom of the hour news.

And they threw Palin's soundbite in there....

We eat, therefore we hunt

You libs, you must hate her for that. You'd rather get your meat from the grocery store, or pretend that you are more self-righteous because you only like killing plants for your food.

Yep. A squeaky clean (now an incumbent) Republican Governor is taking her place. All that left wing legal money wasted trying to guarantee a democrat Governorship in Alaska in 2010.

I'll bet the democrats are furious!! They really wanted the money from that natural gas. Just think of all the welfare votes they could have bought with that.

I am a MD, but it doesn't take one to know the diagnosis. I too have SP-itis. Unfortunately, it is a delusional state whereby starving Americans look to a pretty face, and see hope from the the long travail of the desert. We want hope so badly that even the mirage of this easy answer will quench the thirst.

Don't expect rational arguments from your fellow vanquished, as they taste the sand and claim an oasis...

I would love for her to be the answer, the Neo, but she just isn't anything more than a resonating reed in a parched earthware we call American Conservatism.

All the evidence regarding Gov Palin shows that she is not stepping aside because of the ‘heat’ that her office is experiencing but rather to get ‘involved’ in this war we find ourselves in. Her love of state and country compelled her to do so. She’s strong (who else can stand, deliver a farewell speech and smile with all this swirling around her?)
YES....shame on SOME Americans. But the rest of us MUST make our voices known. I hope you do that.

It isn’t a sad day, it’s a new beginning. The conservative movement has a new voice and ready to take back our nation. If they’d have left Palin alone, she would have probably finished out her term and went into obscurity. Once again the left overplay their hands.

Sarah will now get her book out, go on tour, give speeches and promote conservatie principles all over this country in the midst of the Obama administration disaster and gain great political capital in the process. Then she will support conservative candidates in 2010 and help them win, amassing much more political capital. She will then take all of that and make an awesome, stunning run for the Presidency in 2012.

It is a shame that she was treated as she has been, but it may turn out to be the best thing that has happened, not because the MSM “drove a decent person out,” but more akin to what the Japanese did in 1941.

I am not sure if the quote is accurate, but Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto supposedly said, after Pearl Harbor, “I fear we have awakened a sleeping giant and filled him with a terrible resolve.”

Also Britain’s Winston Churchill reportedly said, upon hearing of Pearl Harbor, “This is great news, that means we will win this war.”

Sarah Palin is the one person who could hold a rally in the new Cowboy Stadium (you gotta see that place, it is HUGE) and draw a bigger crowd than Obama could, right now.

If she decides to campaign for decent conservatives around the country next year, she will almost certainly be more benefit to them than Obama will to any socialist (oops “democrat”) he can get to let him endorse. Unless the MSM can lie a lot more effectively than they have been lately about how the economy is being saved by throwing away all the money he is pulling out of his .... hat (you expected something indelicate?) — an Obama endorsement will be the kiss of death by next summer.

Just having the right enemeies isn’t going to be enough. Her spirit is completely satisfying. Her brain — the tough stuff is still an unknown or unfavorable.

A paltry example of where I am is that I would hardly call Title IX a conservative victory. But, then again, I am a racist, homophobic, Christian and Western Supremacist.

Doc, I sense some comraderie (I have a brother’s who’s an MD, although he doesn’t surf these waters much); I concur with your diagnosis and would hope she will some how assist in the future as more than a pretty face to draw conservatives to the oasis. Time will tell. In the meantime, the search remains in earnest for more qualified candidates, but the drought appears to be deeply entrenched....not a lot of time left with the divining rod, is there? Although the Obamaites continue to step in their own fecal matter lately which provides some comfort.

If they’d have left Palin alone, she would have probably finished out her term and went into obscurity.

The goal was to use the legal system to destroy her run in 2010 and make the democrat running against her look like a saint. The democrats could have taken Alaska.
She stole that away from them. They did all that and ended up with egg on their faces. That's why they're furious! They're calling her a quitter because "she can't quit. Not now. Oh no." The democrats have too much invested in her defeat!

Now, she's free to nail them all she wants. She's even going to write a best seller. She can hurt them now more than ever, and they can't stop her using the DNC paid lawyers anymore.

Not necessarily. She is a smart one and she may have out maneuvered the left. By taking herself out of the Governor's office, she enables herself to campaign, raise funds, support other candidates, write a book or two, get deeply involved with world affairs, speak freely about the dangers of socialism . . .in other words . . be a thorn in Obama's presidency.

Let's give her time and she will show us what happens next.

Did anyone else notice the very subtle, but profoundly accurate, slam Sarah Palin got at Obama — without even saying a word!

She only glanced at her notes occasionally, and although there were teleprompters on the stage, BUT they were covered with green canvas slipcovers throughout her speech! [You could see the surface rippling in the breeze]

A lot of her fans might have missed that little touch, but I bet Obama noticed.

She pulled the rug out from under them so fast they didn't know what hit them.
At first I was saddened and didn't get it, but when I saw the democrats scrambling for a way to get back on their feet, it was easy to figure out. They need her as a punching bag, and they need her bad. The democrats are digging their own graves and they desperately need her as a distraction right now. All of a sudden, they need a target, but the Republicans aren't giving them one. "Oh noooooo".
I'm in awe. She's good. Very good.

Vet,

She prefaced those remarks with (paraphrasing), "Hollywood sends those cute little actresses to Alaska to tell us about guns." Meaning Ashley Judd. kA-POW!

That's not her exact words but it's her meaning. Worth reading the transcript.

I have dreams of her touring the nation and kicking some lib ass.

The person quoted at the end of this story, Larry Landry is not an innocent “Independent”. He has a long history of working for Democratic causes, including having been the Executive Assistant to Governor Bruce Babbitt (D). Please update this article to correct this issue.

For verification, google his identity and bio at Landry, Creedon and Associates.

Help me distribute this so that AP will pull this part of the story. If they want to quote an Independent then find an “Independent” not a Democratic Operative.
